Jeremiah 13

NEW JERUSALEM	DIODATI
1 Yahweh said this to me, 'Go and buy a linen waistcloth and put it round your waist. But do not dip it inwater.'	1 COSÌ mi ha detto il Signore: Va’, e comperati una cintura lina, e mettitela in su i lombi, e non metterla nell’acqua.
2 And so, as Yahweh had ordered, I bought a waistcloth and put it round my waist.	2 Io dunque comperai quella cintura, secondo la parola del Signore, e me la misi in su i lombi.
3 A second time the word of Yahweh came to me,	3 E la parola del Signore mi fu indirizzata la seconda volta, dicendo:
4 'Take the waistcloth that you have bought and are wearing round your waist. Up, go to the Euphratesand hide it there in a hole in the rock.'	4 Prendi la cintura che tu hai comperata, la quale tu hai in su i lombi, e levati, e va’ all’Eufrate, e nascondila quivi in una buca di un sasso.
5 So I went and hid it by the Euphrates as Yahweh had ordered me.	5 Ed io andai, e la nascosi presso all’Eufrate, siccome il Signore mi avea comandato.
6 A long time later, Yahweh said to me, 'Up, go to the Euphrates and fetch the waistcloth I ordered you tohide there.'	6 E dopo molti giorni, avvenne che il Signore mi disse: Levati, va’ all’Eufrate, e togli di là la cintura, che io ti avea comandato di nascondervi.
7 So I went to the Euphrates, and I searched, and I took the waistcloth from the place where I had hiddenit. And there was the waistcloth ruined, no use for anything.	7 Ed io andai all’Eufrate, e cavai, e tolsi la cintura del luogo dove io l’avea nascosta; ed ecco, la cintura era guasta, e non era più buona a nulla.
8 Then the word of Yahweh was addressed to me as follows,	8 E la parola del Signore mi fu indirizzata, dicendo:
9 'Yahweh says this, "In the same way I shal ruin the pride of Judah, the immense pride of Jerusalem.	9 Così ha detto il Signore: Così guasterò la magnificenza di Giuda, la gran magnificenza di Gerusalemme;
10 This evil people, these people who refuse to listen to my words, who fol ow their own stubborninclinations and run after other gods, serving and worshipping them -- this people wil become like this waistcloth,no good for anything.	10 di questo popolo malvagio, che ricusa di ascoltar le mie parole, che cammina nella durezza del cuor suo, e va dietro ad altri dii, per servirli, e per adorarli; e quella diventerà come questa cintura, che non è più buona a nulla.
11 For just as a waistcloth clings to a man's waist, so I made the whole House of Israel and the wholeHouse of Judah cling to me, Yahweh declares, to be my people, my glory, my honour and my pride. But theyhave not listened."	11 Perciocchè, siccome la cintura è apposta in su i lombi dell’uomo, così io mi avea congiunta tutta la casa d’Israele, e tutta la casa di Giuda, dice il Signore; acciocchè fosse mio popolo, a fama, ed a lode, ed a gloria; ma essi non hanno ubbidito
12 'You wil also say this to them, "Yahweh, God of Israel, says this: Any jug can be fil ed with wine." And if they answer you, "Do you think we do not know that any jug can be fil ed with wine?"	12 Di’ loro adunque questa parola: Così ha detto il Signore, l’Iddio d’Israele: Ogni barile sarà ripieno di vino. Ed essi ti diranno: Non sappiam noi bene, che ogni barile sarà ripieno di vino?
13 you are to say, "Yahweh says this: Look, I shal fil al the inhabitants of this country, the kings whooccupy the throne of David, the priests, the prophets and al the citizens of Jerusalem, with drunkenness.	13 E tu dirai loro: Così ha detto il Signore: Ecco, io empierò d’ebbrezza tutti gli abitatori di questo paese, ed i re del legnaggio di Davide, che seggono sopra il suo trono; ed i sacerdoti, ed i profeti, e tutti gli abitanti di Gerusalemme.
14 Then I shal smash them one against the other, parents and children al together, Yahweh declares.Mercilessly, relentlessly, pitilessly, I shal destroy them." '	14 E li sbatterò l’uno contro all’altro, padri e figliuoli insieme, dice il Signore; io non risparmierò, e non perdonerò, e non avrò pietà, per non distruggerli.
15 Listen and pay attention, do not be proud: Yahweh is speaking!	15 Ascoltate, e porgete l’orecchio: Non superbite; perciocchè il Signore ha parlato.
16 Give glory to Yahweh your God before the darkness comes, before your feet stumble on the darkenedmountains. You hope for light, but he wil turn it to shadow dark as death, wil change it to blackness.	16 Date gloria al Signore Iddio vostro, avanti ch’egli faccia venir le tenebre, e avanti che i vostri piedi s’intoppino sopra i monti di oscurità, e che voi aspettiate la luce, e ch’egli l’abbia cangiata in ombra di morte, e mutata in oscurità.
17 If you do not listen to this warning, I shal weep in secret for your pride; my eyes wil weep bitterly andstream with tears, for Yahweh's flock is being led into captivity.	17 Che se voi non ascoltate questo, l’anima mia piangerà in segreto, per lo vostro orgoglio; e l’occhio mio non resterà di lagrimare, e si struggerà in lagrime; perciocchè la greggia del Signore è menata in cattività.
18 Tel the king and the queen mother, 'Sit in a lower place, since your glorious crown has fal en fromyour head.	18 Di’ al re, ed alla regina: Umiliatevi, e sedete in terra; perciocchè il vostro principato, la corona della vostra gloria, è caduta a basso.
19 The towns of the Negeb are shut off with no one to give access to them. Al Judah has been deported,deported wholesale.'	19 Le città del Mezzodì sono serrate, e non vi è alcuno che le apra; tutto Giuda è menato in cattività, egli è menato in una intiera cattività.
20 Raise your eyes and look at these now coming from the north. Where is the flock once entrusted toyou, the flock which was your pride?	20 Alzate gli occhi vostri, e vedete quelli che vengono di Settentrione; dove è la mandra che ti era stata data, la greggia della tua gloria?
21 What wil you say when they come and punish you, you yourself having taught them? Against you, inthe lead, wil come your friends. Then will not anguish grip you as it grips a woman in labour?	21 Che dirai quando egli farà punizion di te? conciossiachè tu stessa abbi loro insegnato ad esser tuoi principi in capo; non ti stringeranno dolori, a guisa di donna che partorisce?
22 And should you ask yourself, 'Why is al this happening to me?' it is because of your great guilt thatyour skirts have been pulled up and you have been manhandled.	22 Che se pur dici nel cuor tuo: Perchè mi son avvenute queste cose? Per la grandezza della tua iniquità i tuoi lembi sono stati rimboccati, le tue calcagna sono state calterite.
23 Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? And you, can you do right, being soaccustomed to wrong?	23 Potrebbe il moro mutar la sua pelle, o il pardo le sue macchie? potreste altresì voi, assuefatti a far male, far bene?
24 'I shall scatter you like chaff on the desert wind.	24 Io dunque li dispergerò come stoppia, che è trasportata via al soffiar del vento del deserto.
25 This is your share, the part allotted you, from me, Yahweh declares, because you have forgotten meand put your trust in Delusion.	25 Quest’è la tua sorte, la parte delle tue misure, da parte mia, dice il Signore; perciocchè tu mi hai dimenticato, e ti sei confidata in menzogna.
26 I am the one who pul s your skirts up over your face to let your shame be seen.	26 Laonde io altresì ti rimboccherò i tuoi lembi in sul viso, e il tuo vituperio apparirà.
27 Oh! Your adulteries, your shrieks of pleasure, your vile prostitution! On the hills, in the fields, I haveseen your Horrors. Jerusalem, disaster is coming for you! How much longer till you are made clean?'	27 I tuoi adulterii, ed il tuo ringhiare, e l’infamia del tuo fornicare, è stata sopra i colli, per li campi; io ho vedute le tue abbominazioni. Guai a te, Gerusalemme! non ti netterai tu mai? dopo quando ancora?
