Jeremiah 13

1 Yahweh said this to me, 'Go and buy a linen waistcloth and put it round your waist. But do not dip it inwater.'	1 Il Signore parlommi in tal guisa: Va, e comprati una cintura di lino, e mettitela a' tuoi fianchi, e non le farai toccar l'acqua.
2 And so, as Yahweh had ordered, I bought a waistcloth and put it round my waist.	2 E comperai la cintura secondo la Parola del Signore, e me la cinsi a' miei fianchi
3 A second time the word of Yahweh came to me,	3 E il Signore parlommi di nuovo, dicendo:
4 'Take the waistcloth that you have bought and are wearing round your waist. Up, go to the Euphratesand hide it there in a hole in the rock.'	4 Prendi la cintura, che hai comperata, e porti intorno a' tuoi fianchi, e sorgi, e va all'Eufrate, e nascondila nella buca di una pietra.
5 So I went and hid it by the Euphrates as Yahweh had ordered me.	5 E andai, e la nascosi vicino all'Eufrate, conforme mi avea ordinato il Signore.
6 A long time later, Yahweh said to me, 'Up, go to the Euphrates and fetch the waistcloth I ordered you tohide there.'	6 E dopo un gran numero di giorni il Signore mi disse: Sorgi, va all'Eufrate, e prendi la cintura, ch'io ti ordinai di nasconder cola.
7 So I went to the Euphrates, and I searched, and I took the waistcloth from the place where I had hiddenit. And there was the waistcloth ruined, no use for anything.	7 E andai all'Eufrate, e scopersi la buca, e cavai la cintura dal luogo, dov' io l'avea nascosta: ed ecco, che la cintura era marcita in guisa, che non era più buona a nulla.
8 Then the word of Yahweh was addressed to me as follows,	8 E il Signore parlommi, e disse:
9 'Yahweh says this, "In the same way I shal ruin the pride of Judah, the immense pride of Jerusalem.	9 Queste cose dice il Signore: Così farò io marcire la superbia di Giuda, e la superbia molta di Gerusalemme:
10 This evil people, these people who refuse to listen to my words, who fol ow their own stubborninclinations and run after other gods, serving and worshipping them -- this people wil become like this waistcloth,no good for anything.	10 Questo cattivissimo popolo, che non vuol udire le mie parole, e segue il pravo suo cuore, ed è andato dietro a dei stranieri per onorargli, e adorarli, sarà come questa cintura, che non è buona a nissun uso;
11 For just as a waistcloth clings to a man's waist, so I made the whole House of Israel and the wholeHouse of Judah cling to me, Yahweh declares, to be my people, my glory, my honour and my pride. But theyhave not listened."	11 Imperocché come una cintura combacia co' fianchi dell'uomo, cosi io congiunsi meco tutta la casa d'Israele, e tutta la casa di Giuda, dice il Signore, affinchè fosser mio popolo avente nome da me, mia lode, e mia gloria: ed ei non hanno ascoltato.
12 'You wil also say this to them, "Yahweh, God of Israel, says this: Any jug can be fil ed with wine." And if they answer you, "Do you think we do not know that any jug can be fil ed with wine?"	12 Tu dirai dunque ad essi queste parole: Il Signore Dio d'Israele parla cosi: Tutti i vasi saran pieni di vino. Ed eglino diranno a te: E non sappiam noi, che tutti i vasi si empieranno di vino?
13 you are to say, "Yahweh says this: Look, I shal fil al the inhabitants of this country, the kings whooccupy the throne of David, the priests, the prophets and al the citizens of Jerusalem, with drunkenness.	13 E tu dirai loro: Queste cose dice il Signore: Ecco che io riempirò d'ubbriachezza tutti gli abitatori di questo paese, e i regi della stirpe di David, che seggono sul trono di lui, e i sacerdoti, e i profeti, e tutti quelli, che abitano in Gerusalemme:
14 Then I shal smash them one against the other, parents and children al together, Yahweh declares.Mercilessly, relentlessly, pitilessly, I shal destroy them." '	14 E li spergerò disgiunti il fratello dal fratello, e i padri similmente da' figli, dice il Signore: non perdonerò, e non mi placherò, né avrò misericordia per non ispergergli.
15 Listen and pay attention, do not be proud: Yahweh is speaking!	15 Udite, e prestate attente le orecchie: non vi levate in superbia perocchè il Signore ha parlato.
16 Give glory to Yahweh your God before the darkness comes, before your feet stumble on the darkenedmountains. You hope for light, but he wil turn it to shadow dark as death, wil change it to blackness.	16 Date gloria al Signore Dio vostro, prima che vengan le tenebre, e prima che i vostri piedi urtino nei monti pieni di densa nebbia: voi aspetterete la luce, ed ei la cangerà in ombra di morte, e in caligine.
17 If you do not listen to this warning, I shal weep in secret for your pride; my eyes wil weep bitterly andstream with tears, for Yahweh's flock is being led into captivity.	17 Che se voi non ascolterete queste cose, piangerà in segreto l'anima mia, veggendo la vostra superbia: dirottamente piangerà, e gli occhi miei spanderanno lagrime, perchè è stato preso il gregge del Signore.
18 Tel the king and the queen mother, 'Sit in a lower place, since your glorious crown has fal en fromyour head.	18 Dì al re, e alla padrona: Umiliatevi, sedete per terra; imperocché la corona di vostra gloria vi cade di testa.
19 The towns of the Negeb are shut off with no one to give access to them. Al Judah has been deported,deported wholesale.'	19 Le città di mezzodì sono chiuse, e non v'ha chi le apra: tutta la tribù di Giuda è stata condotta via nella generale trasmigrazione.
20 Raise your eyes and look at these now coming from the north. Where is the flock once entrusted toyou, the flock which was your pride?	20 Alzate gli occhi vostri, e mirate voi, che venite dalla parte di settentrione: Dov'è quel gregge, che a te fu dato, le insigni tue pecorelle?
21 What wil you say when they come and punish you, you yourself having taught them? Against you, inthe lead, wil come your friends. Then will not anguish grip you as it grips a woman in labour?	21 Che dirai tu quando Dio ti visiterà? Imperocché tu ad essi fosti maestro contro di te, e li istruisti per tua rovina. Non ti prenderann' eglino dolori simili a quegli d'una donna di parto?
22 And should you ask yourself, 'Why is al this happening to me?' it is because of your great guilt thatyour skirts have been pulled up and you have been manhandled.	22 Che se tu dirai in cuor tuo: Perchè mai sono avvenute a me tali cose? Per la moltitudine di tue iniquità sono state scoperte le parti tue più vergognose, e contaminati i tuoi piedi.
23 Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? And you, can you do right, being soaccustomed to wrong?	23 Se può l'Etiope mutar sua pelle, o il pardo la varietà delle sue macchie; potrete voi pure far bene, essendo avvezzi al male.
24 'I shall scatter you like chaff on the desert wind.	24 Io li dispergerò come paglia, cui il vento porta via nel deserto.
25 This is your share, the part allotted you, from me, Yahweh declares, because you have forgotten meand put your trust in Delusion.	25 Questa è la sorte tua, e la porzione, ch'io ti ho misurata, dice il Signore, perchè ti se' scordata di me, e ti se' affidata alla menzogna.
26 I am the one who pul s your skirts up over your face to let your shame be seen.	26 Per la qual cosa io pure ho scoperti i tuoi fianchi sugli occhi tuoi, e si è veduta la tua ignominia,
27 Oh! Your adulteries, your shrieks of pleasure, your vile prostitution! On the hills, in the fields, I haveseen your Horrors. Jerusalem, disaster is coming for you! How much longer till you are made clean?'	27 I tuoi adulterj, la furiosa libidine, e l'empietà di tua fornicazione: sopra dei colli, nella campagna io vidi le tue abbominazioni: guai a te, o Gerusalemme! Non ti monderai tu venendo dietro a me? Fino a quando ancora?
