Jeremiah 13

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Yahweh said this to me, 'Go and buy a linen waistcloth and put it round your waist. But do not dip it inwater.'	1 Così mi disse il Signore: "Va', còmprati una cintura di lino e mettila ai tuoi fianchi, ma non immergerla nell'acqua".
2 And so, as Yahweh had ordered, I bought a waistcloth and put it round my waist.	2 Allora io comprai la cintura, secondo l'ordine del Signore e la misi ai miei fianchi.
3 A second time the word of Yahweh came to me,	3 Poi la parola del Signore mi fu rivolta nuovamente in questi termini:
4 'Take the waistcloth that you have bought and are wearing round your waist. Up, go to the Euphratesand hide it there in a hole in the rock.'	4 "Prendi la cintura che hai comprato, quella che è ai tuoi fianchi; poi levati, va' a Parah e nascondila là nelle fessure della roccia".
5 So I went and hid it by the Euphrates as Yahweh had ordered me.	5 Io andai e la nascosi in Parah, come aveva ordinato il Signore.
6 A long time later, Yahweh said to me, 'Up, go to the Euphrates and fetch the waistcloth I ordered you tohide there.'	6 Or, dopo molti giorni, il Signore mi disse: "Levati, va' a Parah e prendi di là la cintura che io ti ordinai di nascondervi".
7 So I went to the Euphrates, and I searched, and I took the waistcloth from the place where I had hiddenit. And there was the waistcloth ruined, no use for anything.	7 Io andai e scavai e ripresi la cintura dal luogo dove l'avevo nascosta. Ma ecco: la cintura si era consumata, non era più buona a nulla.
8 Then the word of Yahweh was addressed to me as follows,	8 Allora la parola del Signore mi fu rivolta in questi termini:
9 'Yahweh says this, "In the same way I shal ruin the pride of Judah, the immense pride of Jerusalem.	9 Così dice il Signore: "Così io consumerò la grande superbia di Giuda e la superbia grande di Gerusalemme.
10 This evil people, these people who refuse to listen to my words, who fol ow their own stubborninclinations and run after other gods, serving and worshipping them -- this people wil become like this waistcloth,no good for anything.	10 Questo popolo malvagio, che rifiuta di ascoltare la mia parola, che cammina nella durezza del suo cuore e va dietro altri dèi per servirli e prostrarsi a loro, che divenga come questa cintura, buona più a nulla.
11 For just as a waistcloth clings to a man's waist, so I made the whole House of Israel and the wholeHouse of Judah cling to me, Yahweh declares, to be my people, my glory, my honour and my pride. But theyhave not listened."	11 Sì, come aderisce la cintura ai fianchi dell'uomo, così io avevo fatto aderire a me l'intera casa d'Israele e l'intera casa di Giuda, oracolo del Signore, perché fosse mio popolo, mia fama, mia lode, mia gloria. Ma non hanno ascoltato!".
12 'You wil also say this to them, "Yahweh, God of Israel, says this: Any jug can be fil ed with wine." And if they answer you, "Do you think we do not know that any jug can be fil ed with wine?"	12 Tu dirai loro questa parola: "Così dice il Signore, Dio di Israele: "Ogni boccale si riempie di vino". Ma ti diranno: "Forse che non sappiamo che ogni boccale si riempie di vino?".
13 you are to say, "Yahweh says this: Look, I shal fil al the inhabitants of this country, the kings whooccupy the throne of David, the priests, the prophets and al the citizens of Jerusalem, with drunkenness.	13 Dirai loro: Così dice il Signore: Eccomi, io riempirò di ubriachezza tutti gli abitanti di questo paese: i re che siedono al posto di Davide, sul suo trono, i sacerdoti, i profeti e tutti gli abitanti di Gerusalemme.
14 Then I shal smash them one against the other, parents and children al together, Yahweh declares.Mercilessly, relentlessly, pitilessly, I shal destroy them." '	14 Io li frantumerò uno contro l'altro, cioè i padri e i figli insieme, oracolo del Signore; non avrò pietà né compassione né misericordia per la loro distruzione".
15 Listen and pay attention, do not be proud: Yahweh is speaking!	15 Ascoltate e porgete orecchio: non insuperbite, perché il Signore ha parlato.
16 Give glory to Yahweh your God before the darkness comes, before your feet stumble on the darkenedmountains. You hope for light, but he wil turn it to shadow dark as death, wil change it to blackness.	16 Date al Signore, Dio vostro, la gloria prima che annotti, prima che inciampino i vostri piedi sui monti del crepuscolo. Voi confidate nella luce, ma egli la convertirà in oscurità mortale, la trasformerà in tenebra.
17 If you do not listen to this warning, I shal weep in secret for your pride; my eyes wil weep bitterly andstream with tears, for Yahweh's flock is being led into captivity.	17 Se, però, non l'ascolterete, segretamente piangerà l'anima mia a causa dell'orgoglio e lacrimerò disperatamente. Si consumerà il mio occhio per il lacrimare perché verrà deportato il gregge del Signore!
18 Tel the king and the queen mother, 'Sit in a lower place, since your glorious crown has fal en fromyour head.	18 Di' al re e alla signora madre: "Sedete più in basso perché è discesa dalla vostra testa la corona della vostra gloria".
19 The towns of the Negeb are shut off with no one to give access to them. Al Judah has been deported,deported wholesale.'	19 Le città del sud sono bloccate, senza accesso: tutto intero Giuda è deportato, è deportato completamente.
20 Raise your eyes and look at these now coming from the north. Where is the flock once entrusted toyou, the flock which was your pride?	20 Solleva i tuoi occhi e considera chi viene dal settentrione. Dov'è il gregge affidato a te, le pecore della tua magnificenza?
21 What wil you say when they come and punish you, you yourself having taught them? Against you, inthe lead, wil come your friends. Then will not anguish grip you as it grips a woman in labour?	21 Cosa dirai quando li stabilirà come tuoi dominatori, tu che li avevi ammaestrati nei tuoi riguardi perché ti fossero amici? Forse che non ti assaliranno i dolori come donna in parto?
22 And should you ask yourself, 'Why is al this happening to me?' it is because of your great guilt thatyour skirts have been pulled up and you have been manhandled.	22 E se dirai nel tuo cuore: "Perché mi accadono queste cose?". Per la tua grande iniquità saranno scoperti i lembi tuoi, violentati i tuoi calcagni.
23 Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? And you, can you do right, being soaccustomed to wrong?	23 Può un etiope mutar la sua pelle o una tigre le sue striature? E allora voi potreste operare bene abituati come siete al male?
24 'I shall scatter you like chaff on the desert wind.	24 Perciò ti disperderò come stoppie al vento del deserto.
25 This is your share, the part allotted you, from me, Yahweh declares, because you have forgotten meand put your trust in Delusion.	25 Questa è la tua sorte, il salario della tua ribellione da parte mia, oracolo del Signore, perché mi hai dimenticato e hai confidato nella menzogna.
26 I am the one who pul s your skirts up over your face to let your shame be seen.	26 Anch'io solleverò i tuoi lembi fino al tuo volto perché sia visibile la tua vergogna.
27 Oh! Your adulteries, your shrieks of pleasure, your vile prostitution! On the hills, in the fields, I haveseen your Horrors. Jerusalem, disaster is coming for you! How much longer till you are made clean?'	27 Gli adultèri tuoi, i tuoi nitriti, la turpitudine della tua prostituzione sulle colline, nei campi! Ho visto le tue abominazioni. Guai a te, Gerusalemme, che non ti purifichi! Per quanto tempo ancora...?
