1 Yahweh said to Moses and Aaron,	1 וידבר יהוה אל משה ואל אהרן לאמר
2 'If a swel ing or scab or spot appears on someone's skin, which could develop into a contagious skin-disease, that person must then be taken to the priest, either Aaron or one of his sons.	2 אדם כי יהיה בעור בשרו שאת או ספחת או בהרת והיה בעור בשרו לנגע צרעת והובא אל אהרן הכהן או אל אחד מבניו הכהנים
3 The priest wil examine the disease on the skin. If the hair on the diseased part has turned white, or ifthe disease bites into the skin, the skin-disease is contagious, and after examination the priest wil declare theperson unclean.	3 וראה הכהן את הנגע בעור הבשר ושער בנגע הפך לבן ומראה הנגע עמק מעור בשרו נגע צרעת הוא וראהו הכהן וטמא אתו
4 But if there is a white spot on the skin without any visible depression of the skin or whitening of thehair, the priest wil isolate the sick person for seven days.	4 ואם בהרת לבנה הוא בעור בשרו ועמק אין מראה מן העור ושערה לא הפך לבן והסגיר הכהן את הנגע שבעת ימים
5 On the seventh day he wil examine the person, and if he observes that the disease persists thoughwithout spreading over the skin, he will isolate the person for a further seven days	5 וראהו הכהן ביום השביעי והנה הנגע עמד בעיניו לא פשה הנגע בעור והסגירו הכהן שבעת ימים שנית
6 and examine him again on the seventh. If he finds that the disease has faded and has not spread overthe skin, the priest wil declare the person clean. This was merely a scab. Once he has washed his clothing hewil be clean.	6 וראה הכהן אתו ביום השביעי שנית והנה כהה הנגע ולא פשה הנגע בעור וטהרו הכהן מספחת היא וכבס בגדיו וטהר
7 'But if the scab spreads over the skin after the sick person has been examined by the priest anddeclared clean, then he wil let himself be examined again by the priest.	7 ואם פשה תפשה המספחת בעור אחרי הראתו אל הכהן לטהרתו ונראה שנית אל הכהן
8 After examining him and certifying the spread of the scab over the skin, the priest wil declare himunclean: it is a contagious skin-disease.	8 וראה הכהן והנה פשתה המספחת בעור וטמאו הכהן צרעת הוא
9 'Someone who has a contagious skin-disease must be taken to the priest.	9 נגע צרעת כי תהיה באדם והובא אל הכהן
10 The priest wil examine the sick person, and if he finds a whitish swel ing with whitening of the hairand an ulcer forming on the skin,	10 וראה הכהן והנה שאת לבנה בעור והיא הפכה שער לבן ומחית בשר חי בשאת
11 this is a dormant skin-disease, and the priest wil declare the person unclean. He wil not isolate him;he is obviously unclean.	11 צרעת נושנת הוא בעור בשרו וטמאו הכהן לא יסגרנו כי טמא הוא
12 'But if the disease spreads all through the skin, if it covers the person entirely from head to foot so faras the priest can see,	12 ואם פרוח תפרח הצרעת בעור וכסתה הצרעת את כל עור הנגע מראשו ועד רגליו לכל מראה עיני הכהן
13 the priest wil then examine the sick person and, if he finds that the skin-disease covers his wholebody, declare the sick person clean. Since it has al become white, he is clean.	13 וראה הכהן והנה כסתה הצרעת את כל בשרו וטהר את הנגע כלו הפך לבן טהור הוא
14 But as soon as an ulcer appears on him, he wil be unclean.	14 וביום הראות בו בשר חי יטמא
15 After examining the ulcer, the priest will declare him unclean: the ulcer is unclean, it is contagious.	15 וראה הכהן את הבשר החי וטמאו הבשר החי טמא הוא צרעת הוא
16 But if the ulcer becomes white again, the sick person wil go to the priest;	16 או כי ישוב הבשר החי ונהפך ללבן ובא אל הכהן
17 the priest wil examine him and if he finds that the disease has turned white, he wil declare the sickperson clean: he is clean.	17 וראהו הכהן והנה נהפך הנגע ללבן וטהר הכהן את הנגע טהור הוא
18 'When an ulcer appears on someone's skin, and then gets better,	18 ובשר כי יהיה בו בערו שחין ונרפא
19 and if then a white swel ing or a reddish-white spot forms on the same place, the sick person wilshow himself to the priest.	19 והיה במקום השחין שאת לבנה או בהרת לבנה אדמדמת ונראה אל הכהן
20 The priest wil examine him, and if he finds a visible depression in the skin and a whitening of thehair, he wil declare the person unclean: this is a case of contagious skin-disease breaking out in an ulcer.	20 וראה הכהן והנה מראה שפל מן העור ושערה הפך לבן וטמאו הכהן נגע צרעת היא בשחין פרחה
21 But if on examination the priest finds neither white hair nor depression of the skin, but a fading of theaffected part, he wil isolate the sick person for seven days.	21 ואם יראנה הכהן והנה אין בה שער לבן ושפלה איננה מן העור והיא כהה והסגירו הכהן שבעת ימים
22 If the disease has then spread over the skin, he will declare the person unclean: this is a case ofcontagious skin-disease.	22 ואם פשה תפשה בעור וטמא הכהן אתו נגע הוא
23 But if the spot has stayed where it was and has not spread, it is the scar of the ulcer and the priestwil declare the person clean.	23 ואם תחתיה תעמד הבהרת לא פשתה צרבת השחין הוא וטהרו הכהן
24 'If someone has a burn on the skin and an abscess, a reddish-white or white spot, forms on the burn,	24 או בשר כי יהיה בערו מכות אש והיתה מחית המכוה בהרת לבנה אדמדמת או לבנה
25 the priest wil then examine it. If he finds a whitening of the hair or a visible depression of the mark onthe skin, a contagious disease has broken out in the burn. The priest wil declare the sick person unclean: this isa contagious skin-disease.	25 וראה אתה הכהן והנה נהפך שער לבן בבהרת ומראה עמק מן העור צרעת הוא במכוה פרחה וטמא אתו הכהן נגע צרעת הוא
26 If on the other hand the priest on examination does not find white hair on the mark or depression ofthe skin, but a fading of the mark, the priest will isolate the person for seven days.	26 ואם יראנה הכהן והנה אין בבהרת שער לבן ושפלה איננה מן העור והוא כהה והסגירו הכהן שבעת ימים
27 He wil examine the person on the seventh day and, if the disease has spread over the skin, he wildeclare the sick person unclean: this is a case of contagious skin-disease.	27 וראהו הכהן ביום השביעי אם פשה תפשה בעור וטמא הכהן אתו נגע צרעת הוא
28 If the mark has stayed where it was and has not spread over the skin, but has faded instead, it wasonly a swel ing due to the burn. The priest wil declare the person clean: it is merely a burn scar.	28 ואם תחתיה תעמד הבהרת לא פשתה בעור והוא כהה שאת המכוה הוא וטהרו הכהן כי צרבת המכוה הוא
29 'If a man or a woman has a sore on the head or chin,	29 ואיש או אשה כי יהיה בו נגע בראש או בזקן
30 the priest wil examine the sore; and if he finds a depression visible in the skin, with the hair on ityel ow and thin, he wil declare the sick person unclean: this is tinea, that is to say, a contagious skin-disease of the head or chin.	30 וראה הכהן את הנגע והנה מראהו עמק מן העור ובו שער צהב דק וטמא אתו הכהן נתק הוא צרעת הראש או הזקן הוא
31 If on examining this case of tinea the priest finds no visible depression in the skin and no yellow hair,he wil isolate the person so affected for seven days.	31 וכי יראה הכהן את נגע הנתק והנה אין מראהו עמק מן העור ושער שחר אין בו והסגיר הכהן את נגע הנתק שבעת ימים
32 He wil examine the infected part on the seventh day, and if he finds that the tinea has not spread,that the hair on it is not yel ow, and that there is no visible depression in the skin,	32 וראה הכהן את הנגע ביום השביעי והנה לא פשה הנתק ולא היה בו שער צהב ומראה הנתק אין עמק מן העור
33 the sick person will shave his hair off, all except the part affected with tinea, and the priest wil againisolate him for seven days.	33 והתגלח ואת הנתק לא יגלח והסגיר הכהן את הנתק שבעת ימים שנית
34 He wil examine the infected part on the seventh day, and if he finds that it has not spread over theskin, and that there is no visible depression of the skin, the priest wil declare the sick person clean. Afterwashing his clothes the person wil be clean.	34 וראה הכהן את הנתק ביום השביעי והנה לא פשה הנתק בעור ומראהו איננו עמק מן העור וטהר אתו הכהן וכבס בגדיו וטהר
35 But if after this purification the tinea does spread over the skin,	35 ואם פשה יפשה הנתק בעור אחרי טהרתו
36 the priest wil examine the person; if he finds that the tinea has indeed spread over the skin, the sickperson is unclean, and there is no need to verify whether the hair is yellow.	36 וראהו הכהן והנה פשה הנתק בעור לא יבקר הכהן לשער הצהב טמא הוא
37 Whereas if, so far as he can see, the tinea is arrested and dark hair is beginning to grow on it, thesick person is cured. He is clean, and the priest will declare him clean.	37 ואם בעיניו עמד הנתק ושער שחר צמח בו נרפא הנתק טהור הוא וטהרו הכהן
38 'If spots break out on the skin of a man or woman, and if these spots are white,	38 ואיש או אשה כי יהיה בעור בשרם בהרת בהרת לבנת
39 the priest wil examine them. If he finds that the spots are of a dul white, this is a rash that hasbroken out on the skin: the sick person is clean.	39 וראה הכהן והנה בעור בשרם בהרת כהות לבנת בהק הוא פרח בעור טהור הוא
40 'If someone loses the hair of the scalp, this is baldness of the scalp but the person is clean.	40 ואיש כי ימרט ראשו קרח הוא טהור הוא
41 If he loses hair off the front of the head, this is baldness of the forehead but the person is clean.	41 ואם מפאת פניו ימרט ראשו גבח הוא טהור הוא
42 If, however, a reddish-white sore appears on scalp or forehead, a contagious skin-disease hasbroken out on the scalp or forehead.	42 וכי יהיה בקרחת או בגבחת נגע לבן אדמדם צרעת פרחת הוא בקרחתו או בגבחתו
43 The priest wil examine it, and if he finds a reddish-white swel ing on scalp or forehead, looking like acontagious skin-disease,	43 וראה אתו הכהן והנה שאת הנגע לבנה אדמדמת בקרחתו או בגבחתו כמראה צרעת עור בשר
44 the person has such a disease: he is unclean. The priest will declare him unclean; he has acontagious skin-disease of the head.	44 איש צרוע הוא טמא הוא טמא יטמאנו הכהן בראשו נגעו
45 'Anyone with a contagious skin-disease wil wear torn clothing and disordered hair; and wil cover theupper lip and shout, "Unclean, unclean."	45 והצרוע אשר בו הנגע בגדיו יהיו פרמים וראשו יהיה פרוע ועל שפם יעטה וטמא טמא יקרא
46 As long as the disease lasts, such a person wil be unclean and, being unclean, will live alone andlive outside the camp.	46 כל ימי אשר הנגע בו יטמא טמא הוא בדד ישב מחוץ למחנה מושבו
47 'When a piece of clothing is infected with mould, be it wool en or linen clothing,	47 והבגד כי יהיה בו נגע צרעת בבגד צמר או בבגד פשתים
48 linen or wool en fabric or covering, or leather or anything made of leather,	48 או בשתי או בערב לפשתים ולצמר או בעור או בכל מלאכת עור
49 if the spot on the clothing, leather, fabric, covering or object made of leather is a greenish or reddishcolour, it is a disease to be shown to the priest.	49 והיה הנגע ירקרק או אדמדם בבגד או בעור או בשתי או בערב או בכל כלי עור נגע צרעת הוא והראה את הכהן
50 The priest wil examine the infection and isolate the object for seven days.	50 וראה הכהן את הנגע והסגיר את הנגע שבעת ימים
51 If on the seventh day he observes that the infection has spread on the clothing, fabric, covering,leather or object made of leather, whatever it may be, this is a contagious disease and the object is unclean.	51 וראה את הנגע ביום השביעי כי פשה הנגע בבגד או בשתי או בערב או בעור לכל אשר יעשה העור למלאכה צרעת ממארת הנגע טמא הוא
52 He wil burn this clothing, fabric, linen or woollen covering or leather object whatever it may be, onwhich the infection has appeared; for this is a contagious disease which must be destroyed by fire.	52 ושרף את הבגד או את השתי או את הערב בצמר או בפשתים או את כל כלי העור אשר יהיה בו הנגע כי צרעת ממארת הוא באש תשרף
53 'But if on examination the priest finds that the infection has not spread on the clothing, fabric,covering, or leather object whatever it may be,	53 ואם יראה הכהן והנה לא פשה הנגע בבגד או בשתי או בערב או בכל כלי עור
54 he wil order the infected object to be washed and wil isolate it again for a period of seven days.	54 וצוה הכהן וכבסו את אשר בו הנגע והסגירו שבעת ימים שנית
55 After the washing, he wil examine the infection and if he finds that there is no change in itsappearance, even though it has not spread, the article is unclean. You wil burn it; it is infected through andthrough.	55 וראה הכהן אחרי הכבס את הנגע והנה לא הפך הנגע את עינו והנגע לא פשה טמא הוא באש תשרפנו פחתת הוא בקרחתו או בגבחתו
56 'But if on examination the priest finds that the infection has diminished after washing, he will tear it outof the clothing, leather, fabric or covering.	56 ואם ראה הכהן והנה כהה הנגע אחרי הכבס אתו וקרע אתו מן הבגד או מן העור או מן השתי או מן הערב
57 But if the infection reappears on the same clothing, fabric, covering or leather object whatever it maybe, this means that the infection is active; you will burn whatever is infected.	57 ואם תראה עוד בבגד או בשתי או בערב או בכל כלי עור פרחת הוא באש תשרפנו את אשר בו הנגע
58 The clothing, fabric, covering or leather object whatever it may be, from which the infectiondisappears after being washed, wil be clean after it has been washed a second time.	58 והבגד או השתי או הערב או כל כלי העור אשר תכבס וסר מהם הנגע וכבס שנית וטהר
59 'Such is the law governing disease in a linen or wool en garment, a fabric or covering or leather objectwhatever it may be, when it is a question of declaring them clean or unclean.'	59 זאת תורת נגע צרעת בגד הצמר או הפשתים או השתי או הערב או כל כלי עור לטהרו או לטמאו
