Leviticus 13

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Yahweh said to Moses and Aaron,	1 El Señor dijo a Moisés y a Aarón:
2 'If a swel ing or scab or spot appears on someone's skin, which could develop into a contagious skin-disease, that person must then be taken to the priest, either Aaron or one of his sons.	2 Cuando aparezca en la piel de una persona una hinchazón, una erupción o una mancha lustrosa, que hacen previsible un caso de lepra, la persona será llevada al sacerdote Aarón o a uno de sus hijos, los sacerdotes,
3 The priest wil examine the disease on the skin. If the hair on the diseased part has turned white, or ifthe disease bites into the skin, the skin-disease is contagious, and after examination the priest wil declare theperson unclean.	3 el cual examinará la afección. Si en la zona afectada el vello se ha puesto blanco, y aquella aparece más hundida que el resto de la piel, es un caso de lepra. El sacerdote, después de haberla observado, deberá declarar impura a esa persona.
4 But if there is a white spot on the skin without any visible depression of the skin or whitening of thehair, the priest wil isolate the sick person for seven days.	4 Si la mancha lustrosa es blancuzca pero no aparece más hundida que la piel y el vello que la recubre no se ha puesto blanco, el sacerdote mantendrá aislada a la persona afectada durante siete días.
5 On the seventh day he wil examine the person, and if he observes that the disease persists thoughwithout spreading over the skin, he will isolate the person for a further seven days	5 Al séptimo día volverá a examinarla y si comprueba que la afección continúa estacionaria y no se ha propagado por la piel, el sacerdote la mantendrá aislada siete días más.
6 and examine him again on the seventh. If he finds that the disease has faded and has not spread overthe skin, the priest wil declare the person clean. This was merely a scab. Once he has washed his clothing hewil be clean.	6 Al séptimo día volverá a examinar, y si la afección ha cedido y no se ha extendido por la piel, declarará puro al enfermo; no es más que una erupción. El enfermo lavará su ropa y será puro.
7 'But if the scab spreads over the skin after the sick person has been examined by the priest anddeclared clean, then he wil let himself be examined again by the priest.	7 Pero si después de haberse presentado al sacerdote y de haber sido declarado puro, la erupción continúa extendiéndose por la piel, se presentará nuevamente al sacerdote.
8 After examining him and certifying the spread of the scab over the skin, the priest wil declare himunclean: it is a contagious skin-disease.	8 Y si este ve que la erupción se ha propagado, deberá declararlo impuro, porque es lepra.
9 'Someone who has a contagious skin-disease must be taken to the priest.	9 Cuando en una persona aparezcan síntomas de lepra, será llevada al sacerdote.
10 The priest wil examine the sick person, and if he finds a whitish swel ing with whitening of the hairand an ulcer forming on the skin,	10 Si este descubre en la piel una hinchazón blancuzca, que ha emblanquecido el vello, y si en la parte hinchada se ha formado una úlcera,
11 this is a dormant skin-disease, and the priest wil declare the person unclean. He wil not isolate him;he is obviously unclean.	11 entonces se trata de lepra crónica. El sacerdote debe declarar impuro al enfermo, sin necesidad de aislarlo, porque ciertamente es impuro.
12 'But if the disease spreads all through the skin, if it covers the person entirely from head to foot so faras the priest can see,	12 Pero si la lepra prolifera hasta cubrir por completo la piel de la persona afectada, de la cabeza a los pies, en cuanto el sacerdote alcanza a ver,
13 the priest wil then examine the sick person and, if he finds that the skin-disease covers his wholebody, declare the sick person clean. Since it has al become white, he is clean.	13 y si este, al hacer el examen, comprueba que la lepra cubre todo el cuerpo, entonces deberá declarar pura a la persona afectada. Es pura, porque se ha vuelto totalmente blanca.
14 But as soon as an ulcer appears on him, he wil be unclean.	14 Sin embargo, apenas aparezca una úlcera, será impura.
15 After examining the ulcer, the priest will declare him unclean: the ulcer is unclean, it is contagious.	15 Cuando el sacerdote vea la úlcera, la declarará impura: la úlcera es impura porque es lepra.
16 But if the ulcer becomes white again, the sick person wil go to the priest;	16 Pero si la úlcera se vuelve a poner blanca, el enfermo irá de nuevo al sacerdote,
17 the priest wil examine him and if he finds that the disease has turned white, he wil declare the sickperson clean: he is clean.	17 y él lo examinará. Si la afección ha recuperado el color blanco, el sacerdote tendrá que declarar pura a la persona afectada, porque es pura.
18 'When an ulcer appears on someone's skin, and then gets better,	18 Si en la piel de una persona aparece una inflamación, que luego se cura,
19 and if then a white swel ing or a reddish-white spot forms on the same place, the sick person wilshow himself to the priest.	19 pero en el lugar donde estaba la inflamación se forma una hinchazón blancuzca o una mancha de color rojizo pálido, el enfermo se presentará al sacerdote.
20 The priest wil examine him, and if he finds a visible depression in the skin and a whitening of thehair, he wil declare the person unclean: this is a case of contagious skin-disease breaking out in an ulcer.	20 Si el sacerdote ve que la zona afectada está más hundida que la piel, y que el vello se ha puesto blanco, deberá declararlo impuro: es un caso de lepra que ha proliferado en la inflamación.
21 But if on examination the priest finds neither white hair nor depression of the skin, but a fading of theaffected part, he wil isolate the sick person for seven days.	21 Pero sin advierte que no hubo emblanquecimiento del vello ni hundimiento de la epidermis, sino que la afección fue cediendo, mantendrá al enfermo aislado durante siete días,
22 If the disease has then spread over the skin, he will declare the person unclean: this is a case ofcontagious skin-disease.	22 y si la inflamación continúa extendiéndose por la piel, deberá declararlo impuro: es una verdadera afección.
23 But if the spot has stayed where it was and has not spread, it is the scar of the ulcer and the priestwil declare the person clean.	23 En cambio, si la mancha permanece estacionaria y no se extiende, es la cicatriz de la inflamación, y por lo tanto, el sacerdote deberá declarar pura a la persona afectada.
24 'If someone has a burn on the skin and an abscess, a reddish-white or white spot, forms on the burn,	24 Si una persona se quema con fuego y se forma sobre la quemadura una mancha lustrosa de color rojizo pálido o blancuzco,
25 the priest wil then examine it. If he finds a whitening of the hair or a visible depression of the mark onthe skin, a contagious disease has broken out in the burn. The priest wil declare the sick person unclean: this isa contagious skin-disease.	25 el sacerdote la examinará. Si en la mancha lustrosa el vello se ha puesto blanco y la parte afectada aparece más hundida que el resto de la piel, se trata de lepra que ha proliferado en la quemadura. El sacerdote deberá declarar impuro al enfermo, porque es lepra.
26 If on the other hand the priest on examination does not find white hair on the mark or depression ofthe skin, but a fading of the mark, the priest will isolate the person for seven days.	26 Pero si el sacerdote comprueba que no hay emblanquecimiento del vello ni hundimiento de la epidermis, y que la mancha ha ido cediendo, mantendrá aislado al enfermo durante siete días.
27 He wil examine the person on the seventh day and, if the disease has spread over the skin, he wildeclare the sick person unclean: this is a case of contagious skin-disease.	27 Al séptimo día lo examinará, y si la afección se ha extendido por la piel, el sacerdote deberá declararlo impuro: es un caso de lepra.
28 If the mark has stayed where it was and has not spread over the skin, but has faded instead, it wasonly a swel ing due to the burn. The priest wil declare the person clean: it is merely a burn scar.	28 Pero si la mancha permanece estacionaria, sin extenderse por la piel, y pierde intensidad, es simplemente efecto de la quemadura. El sacerdote tendrá que declararlo puro, porque no es más que la cicatriz de la quemadura.
29 'If a man or a woman has a sore on the head or chin,	29 Si un hombre o una mujer tienen una afección en la cabeza o en el mentón,
30 the priest wil examine the sore; and if he finds a depression visible in the skin, with the hair on ityel ow and thin, he wil declare the sick person unclean: this is tinea, that is to say, a contagious skin-disease of the head or chin.	30 el sacerdote examinará la parte afectada. Si esta aparece más hundida que el resto de la piel, y en ella el pelo se ha vuelto amarillento y débil, el sacerdote tendrá que declarar impuro al enfermo: es tiña, o sea, lepra de la cabeza y del mentón.
31 If on examining this case of tinea the priest finds no visible depression in the skin and no yellow hair,he wil isolate the person so affected for seven days.	31 Pero si el sacerdote comprueba que la zona afectada de tiña no aparece más hundida que el resto de la piel, y que en ella no hay pelo negro, mantendrá aislado al enfermo durante siete días.
32 He wil examine the infected part on the seventh day, and if he finds that the tinea has not spread,that the hair on it is not yel ow, and that there is no visible depression in the skin,	32 Al séptimo día examinará la afección, y si tiña no se ha propagado ni hay pelo amarillento, y la zona afectada no aparece más hundida que el resto de la piel,
33 the sick person will shave his hair off, all except the part affected with tinea, and the priest wil againisolate him for seven days.	33 el enfermo se afeitará, excluida la parte afectada, y el sacerdote lo mantendrá aislado siete días más.
34 He wil examine the infected part on the seventh day, and if he finds that it has not spread over theskin, and that there is no visible depression of the skin, the priest wil declare the sick person clean. Afterwashing his clothes the person wil be clean.	34 Al séptimo día lo someterá a un nuevo examen, y si la tiña no se ha extendido por la piel y la zona afectada no aparece más hundida, el sacerdote tendrá que declararlo puro.
35 But if after this purification the tinea does spread over the skin,	35 Si después de haber sido declarado puro, la tiña se propaga por la piel,
36 the priest wil examine the person; if he finds that the tinea has indeed spread over the skin, the sickperson is unclean, and there is no need to verify whether the hair is yellow.	36 el sacerdote lo examinará, y si la tiña se ha extendido, no necesitará verificar si hay pelo amarillento: el enfermo es impuro.
37 Whereas if, so far as he can see, the tinea is arrested and dark hair is beginning to grow on it, thesick person is cured. He is clean, and the priest will declare him clean.	37 En cambio, si advierte que la tiña permanece estacionaria y que en la zona afectada ha crecido pelo negro, la tiña está curada. La persona es pura, y el sacerdote deberá declararla como tal.
38 'If spots break out on the skin of a man or woman, and if these spots are white,	38 Si un hombre o una mujer tienen en la piel manchas lustrosas de color blanco,
39 the priest wil examine them. If he finds that the spots are of a dul white, this is a rash that hasbroken out on the skin: the sick person is clean.	39 y el sacerdote ve que las manchas son de un blanco tenue, se trata de una eczema que ha brotado en la piel: esa persona es pura.
40 'If someone loses the hair of the scalp, this is baldness of the scalp but the person is clean.	40 Si a un hombre se le cae el cabello y queda calvo, es puro.
41 If he loses hair off the front of the head, this is baldness of the forehead but the person is clean.	41 Si pierde el cabello en la parte delantera de la cabeza y se vuelve calvo sobre la frente, también es puro.
42 If, however, a reddish-white sore appears on scalp or forehead, a contagious skin-disease hasbroken out on the scalp or forehead.	42 Pero si en la parte calva, ya sea sobre la frente o en la parte posterior de la cabeza, aparece una afección de color rojizo pálido, es lepra que ha proliferado en la parte calva.
43 The priest wil examine it, and if he finds a reddish-white swel ing on scalp or forehead, looking like acontagious skin-disease,	43 El sacerdote lo examinará, y si la hinchazón de la zona afectada es de un color rojizo pálido y tiene el mismo aspecto que la lepra de la piel del cuerpo,
44 the person has such a disease: he is unclean. The priest will declare him unclean; he has acontagious skin-disease of the head.	44 se trata de un leproso. Esa persona es impura, y el sacerdote deberá declararla como tal: tiene lepra en la cabeza.
45 'Anyone with a contagious skin-disease wil wear torn clothing and disordered hair; and wil cover theupper lip and shout, "Unclean, unclean."	45 La persona afectada de lepra llevará la ropa desgarrada y los cabellos sueltos; se cubrirá hasta la boca e irá gritando: «¡Impuro, impuro!»
46 As long as the disease lasts, such a person wil be unclean and, being unclean, will live alone andlive outside the camp.	46 Será impuro mientras dure su afección. Por ser impuro, vivirá apartado y su morada estará fuera del campamento.
47 'When a piece of clothing is infected with mould, be it wool en or linen clothing,	47 Cuando aparezca una mancha de lepra en una prenda de lana o de lino
48 linen or wool en fabric or covering, or leather or anything made of leather,	48 –en la trama o en la urdimbre de la lana o del lino– o en un cuero, o en algo fabricado con cuero,
49 if the spot on the clothing, leather, fabric, covering or object made of leather is a greenish or reddishcolour, it is a disease to be shown to the priest.	49 si la mancha es amarillenta o rojiza, se trata de una mancha de lepra y por lo tanto deberá ser mostrada al sacerdote.
50 The priest wil examine the infection and isolate the object for seven days.	50 Este la examinará y mantendrá aislado durante siete días el objeto afectado.
51 If on the seventh day he observes that the infection has spread on the clothing, fabric, covering,leather or object made of leather, whatever it may be, this is a contagious disease and the object is unclean.	51 Al séptimo día volverá a examinar la mancha, y si se ha extendido por la prenda de vestir –en la trama o la urdimbre– o por el cuero –cualquiera sea el uso para el que se lo destina– es lepra maligna: ese objeto es impuro
52 He wil burn this clothing, fabric, linen or woollen covering or leather object whatever it may be, onwhich the infection has appeared; for this is a contagious disease which must be destroyed by fire.	52 y será quemado. Como se trata de lepra maligna, deberá ser consumido por el fuego.
53 'But if on examination the priest finds that the infection has not spread on the clothing, fabric,covering, or leather object whatever it may be,	53 Pero si el sacerdote comprueba que la mancha no se ha extendido,
54 he wil order the infected object to be washed and wil isolate it again for a period of seven days.	54 ordenará que laven el objeto donde está la misma y lo mantendrá aislado siete días más.
55 After the washing, he wil examine the infection and if he finds that there is no change in itsappearance, even though it has not spread, the article is unclean. You wil burn it; it is infected through andthrough.	55 El sacerdote examinará la mancha después de haber sido lavada: si esta no ha cambiado de aspecto, aunque no se haya extendido, el objeto es impuro y deberás quemarlo: es una corrosión, sea en la parte interior o en la parte exterior.
56 'But if on examination the priest finds that the infection has diminished after washing, he will tear it outof the clothing, leather, fabric or covering.	56 Pero si el sacerdote comprueba que la mancha, una vez lavada, ha disminuido, la arrancará de la ropa o del cuero, de la trama o de la urdimbre.
57 But if the infection reappears on the same clothing, fabric, covering or leather object whatever it maybe, this means that the infection is active; you will burn whatever is infected.	57 Y si vuelve a aparecer, es un brote contagioso: el objeto deberá ser consumido por el fuego.
58 The clothing, fabric, covering or leather object whatever it may be, from which the infectiondisappears after being washed, wil be clean after it has been washed a second time.	58 Pero si la mancha desaparece de la ropa –de la trama o de la urdimbre– o del objeto de cuero que sido lavado, se lo volverá a lavar, y entonces será puro.
59 'Such is the law governing disease in a linen or wool en garment, a fabric or covering or leather objectwhatever it may be, when it is a question of declaring them clean or unclean.'	59 Estas son las instrucciones relativas a la lepra de la ropa de lana o de lino –en la urdimbre o la trama– o de cualquier objeto de cuero, para declararlos puros o impuros.
