NEW JERUSALEM | VULGATA |
---|---|
The spirit of Lord Yahweh is on me for Yahweh has anointed me. He has sent me to bring the news tothe afflicted, to soothe the broken-hearted, | 1 Spiritus Domini super me, eo quod unxerit Dominus me ; ad annuntiandum mansuetis misit me, ut mederer contritis corde, et prædicarem captivis indulgentiam, et clausis apertionem ; |
to proclaim liberty to captives, release to those in prison, to proclaim a year of favour from Yahweh anda day of vengeance for our God, to comfort all who mourn | 2 ut prædicarem annum placabilem Domino, et diem ultionis Deo nostro ; ut consolarer omnes lugentes, |
(to give to Zion's mourners), to give them for ashes a garland, for mourning-dress, the oil of gladness, for despondency, festal attire; and they wil be cal ed 'terebinths of saving justice', planted by Yahweh to glorifyhim. | 3 ut ponerem lugentibus Sion, et darem eis coronam pro cinere, oleum gaudii pro luctu, pallium laudis pro spiritu mœroris ; et vocabuntur in ea fortes justitiæ, plantatio Domini ad glorificandum. |
They wil rebuild the ancient ruins, they wil raise what has long lain waste, they wil restore the ruinedcities, al that has lain waste for ages past. | 4 Et ædificabunt deserta a sæculo, et ruinas antiquas erigent, et instaurabunt civitates desertas, dissipatas in generationem et generationem. |
Strangers wil come forward to feed your flocks, foreigners be your ploughmen and vinedressers; | 5 Et stabunt alieni, et pascent pecora vestra, et filii peregrinorum agricolæ et vinitores vestri erunt. |
but you will be cal ed 'priests of Yahweh' and be addressed as 'ministers of our God'. You will feed onthe wealth of nations, you wil supplant them in their glory. | 6 Vos autem sacerdotes Domini vocabimini : Ministri Dei nostri, dicetur vobis, fortitudinem gentium comedetis, et in gloria earum superbietis. |
To make up for your shame, you wil receive double; instead of disgrace, shouts of joy wil be their lot;yes, they wil have a double portion in their country and everlasting joy wil be theirs. | 7 Pro confusione vestra duplici et rubore, laudabunt partem suam ; propter hoc in terra sua duplicia possidebunt, lætitia sempiterna erit eis. |
For I am Yahweh: I love fair judgement, I hate robbery and wrong-doing, and I shal reward themfaithful y and make an everlasting covenant with them. | 8 Quia ego Dominus diligens judicium, et odio habens rapinam in holocausto ; et dabo opus eorum in veritate, et fœdus perpetuum feriam eis. |
Their race wil be famous throughout the nations and their offspring throughout the peoples. All whosee them wil admit that they are a race whom Yahweh has blessed. | 9 Et scient in gentibus semen eorum, et germen eorum in medio populorum ; omnes qui viderint eos cognoscent illos, quia isti sunt semen cui benedixit Dominus. |
I exult for joy in Yahweh, my soul rejoices in my God, for he has clothed me in garments of salvation,he has wrapped me in a cloak of saving justice, like a bridegroom wearing his garland, like a bride adorned inher jewels. | 10 Gaudens gaudebo in Domino, et exsultabit anima mea in Deo meo, quia induit me vestimentis salutis, et indumento justitiæ circumdedit me, quasi sponsum decoratum corona, et quasi sponsam ornatam monilibus suis. |
For as the earth sends up its shoots and a garden makes seeds sprout, so Lord Yahweh makessaving justice and praise spring up in the sight of al nations. | 11 Sicut enim terra profert germen suum, et sicut hortus semen suum germinat, sic Dominus Deus germinabit justitiam et laudem coram universis gentibus. |
