1 Proclamation about Damascus: Damascus wil soon cease to be a city, it wil become a heap of ruins.	1 - Vaticinio su Damasco. Ecco che Damasco cesserà d'esser una città, e sarà un mucchio di macerie.
2 Its towns, abandoned for ever, wil be pastures for flocks; there they wil rest with no one to disturbthem.	2 Le città di Aroer saranno abbandonate alle mandre delle pecore, ivi si riposeranno senza che alcuno le disturbi.
3 Ephraim wil be stripped of its defences and Damascus of its sovereignty; and the remnant of Aram wilbe treated like the glory of the Israelites -- declares Yahweh Sabaoth.	3 Ed Efraim resterà senza difesa, e Damasco senza regno; e sarà degli avanzi della Siria come della gloria dei figli di Israele, dice il Signore degli eserciti.
4 When that day comes, Jacob's glory wil diminish, from being fat he wil grow lean;	4 E in quel giorno Giacobbe vedrà la sua gloria illanguidirsi e la pinguedine della sua carne emaciarsi.
5 as when a reaper gathers in the standing corn, harvesting the ears of corn with his arm, or when theyglean the ears in the Val ey of Rephaim,	5 E sarà come uno che raccoglie dopo la mèsse ciò che è rimasto e affastella una bracciata di spighe; e sarà come chi va spigolando nella vallata di Rafaim.
6 nothing wil remain but pickings, as when an olive tree is beaten; two or three berries left on thetopmost bough, four or five berries on the branches of the tree -- declares Yahweh, God of Israel.	6 In esso resterà poco da racimolare, come un olivo bacchiato: due o tre bacche sulla punta dei rami; e sulla cima, quattro o cinque, e saranno tutti i suoi frutti, dice il Signore Dio d'Israele.
7 That day, a man wil look to his Creator and his eyes wil turn to the Holy One of Israel.	7 In quel giorno l'uomo si rivolgerà al suo fattore e i suoi occhi riguarderanno verso il Santo di Israele;
8 He will no longer look to altars, his own handiwork, or to what his own fingers have made: the sacredpoles and incense-altars.	8 e non si volgerà più agli altari che hanno fatto le sue mani, e i boschi e le are che furono opera delle sue dita non vorrà più vederli.
9 That day, its cities of refuge wil be abandoned as were the woods and heaths at the Israelites'advance: there wil be desolation.	9 In quel giorno le sue città forti saranno abbandonate, come gli aratri e le biade furono abbandonate all'apparire dei figli di Israele: e sarai deserta.
10 Since you have forgotten the God of your salvation, and failed to keep the Rock, your refuge, in mind,you plant pleasure-gardens, you sow exotic seeds;	10 Perchè ti sei dimenticata di Dio tuo salvatore, e del tuo forte difensore non ti sei ricordata: perciò tu pianterai piante di buona qualità, seminerai specie rara e forestiera.
11 the day you plant them, you get them to sprout, and, next morning, your seedlings are in flower; butthe harvest wil vanish on the day of disease and incurable pain.	11 Nel dì della piantagione infittiranno come l'uva spina, di buon'ora il tuo seme farà il fiore, ma il giorno che vorrai godere la tua eredità, la mèsse sarà portata via con grave tuo rincrescimento.
12 Disaster! The thunder of vast hordes, a thunder like the thunder of the seas, the roar of nationsroaring like the roar of mighty floods,	12 Guai alla moltitudine dei popoli numerosi, come i molti flutti del risonante mare; e alle turbe rumoreggianti, come rumoreggeranno molte acque!
13 of nations roaring like the roar of ocean! He rebukes them and far away they flee, driven like chaff onthe mountains before the wind, like an eddy of dust before the storm.	13 Rumoreggerranno i popoli col rumore d'acque straripanti; ma Dio li sgriderà, e fuggiranno lontano, e saranno travolti come la polvere dei monti dinanzi al vento, e come un vortice di nubi dinanzi alla bufera.
14 At evening al is terror, by morning al have disappeared. Such wil be the lot of those who plunder us,such, the fate of our despoilers.	14 Sarà la sera, ed ecco lo sbigottimento: al giunger del mattino non ci saranno più. Questa sarà la parte che toccherà a coloro che ci hanno devastati, e la sorte riserbata ai nostri saccheggiatori.
