Isaiah 17

NEW JERUSALEM	DIODATI
1 Proclamation about Damascus: Damascus wil soon cease to be a city, it wil become a heap of ruins.	1 ECCO, Damasco è tolto via, e ridotto a non essere più città; e sarà un monte di ruine.
2 Its towns, abandoned for ever, wil be pastures for flocks; there they wil rest with no one to disturbthem.	2 Le città di Aroer saranno abbandonate; saranno per le mandre, le quali vi giaceranno; e non vi sarà alcuno che le spaventi.
3 Ephraim wil be stripped of its defences and Damascus of its sovereignty; and the remnant of Aram wilbe treated like the glory of the Israelites -- declares Yahweh Sabaoth.	3 E le fortezze verranno meno in Efraim, e il regno in Damasco, e nel rimanente della Siria; saranno come la gloria de’ figliuoli d’Israele, dice il Signor degli eserciti.
4 When that day comes, Jacob's glory wil diminish, from being fat he wil grow lean;	4 Ed avverrà in quel giorno che la gloria di Giacobbe sarà scemata, e la grassezza della sua carne dimagrerà.
5 as when a reaper gathers in the standing corn, harvesting the ears of corn with his arm, or when theyglean the ears in the Val ey of Rephaim,	5 Ed avverrà loro, come quando il mietitore raccoglie le biade, e col suo braccio miete le spighe; avverrà, dico, come quando si raccolgono le spighe ad una ad una nella valle de’ Rafei
6 nothing wil remain but pickings, as when an olive tree is beaten; two or three berries left on thetopmost bough, four or five berries on the branches of the tree -- declares Yahweh, God of Israel.	6 E pur vi resteranno in esso alcuni grappoli; come quando si scuote l’ulivo, restano due o tre ulive nella cima delle vette, e quattro o cinque ne’ rami madornali, dice il Signore Iddio d’Israele.
7 That day, a man wil look to his Creator and his eyes wil turn to the Holy One of Israel.	7 In quel giorno l’uomo riguarderà a colui che l’ha fatto, e gli occhi suoi guarderanno verso il Santo d’Israele.
8 He will no longer look to altars, his own handiwork, or to what his own fingers have made: the sacredpoles and incense-altars.	8 E non riguarderà più verso gli altari, opera delle sue mani; e non guarderà a quello che le sue dita avranno fatto, nè a’ boschi, nè a’ simulacri
9 That day, its cities of refuge wil be abandoned as were the woods and heaths at the Israelites'advance: there wil be desolation.	9 In quel giorno, le sue città forti saranno come rami e vette abbandonate; perciocchè saranno abbandonate dalla presenza de’ figliuoli d’Israele; e vi sarà desolazione.
10 Since you have forgotten the God of your salvation, and failed to keep the Rock, your refuge, in mind,you plant pleasure-gardens, you sow exotic seeds;	10 Perciocchè tu hai dimenticato l’Iddio della tua salute, e non ti sei ricordato della Rocca della tua fortezza; perciò, pianterai piante bellissime, e porrai magliuoli forestieri.
11 the day you plant them, you get them to sprout, and, next morning, your seedlings are in flower; butthe harvest wil vanish on the day of disease and incurable pain.	11 Di giorno farai crescere quello che avrai piantato, e la mattina farai germogliar quello che avrai posto; ma i rami ne saranno scossi al giorno del fiaccamento, e della doglia incurabile
12 Disaster! The thunder of vast hordes, a thunder like the thunder of the seas, the roar of nationsroaring like the roar of mighty floods,	12 GUAI alla turba de’ gran popoli i quali romoreggiano come i mari; ed alla turba risonante delle nazioni, che risuonano a guisa di acque grosse!
13 of nations roaring like the roar of ocean! He rebukes them and far away they flee, driven like chaff onthe mountains before the wind, like an eddy of dust before the storm.	13 Le nazioni risuonano a guisa di grandi acque; ma Iddio le sgriderà, e fuggiranno lontano, e saranno perseguite come la pula de’ monti dinanzi al vento, e come una palla dinanzi al turbo.
14 At evening al is terror, by morning al have disappeared. Such wil be the lot of those who plunder us,such, the fate of our despoilers.	14 Al tempo della sera ecco turbamento, e innanzi alla mattina non saranno più. Quest’è la parte di quelli che ci predano, e la sorte di quelli che ci rubano
