NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 On my bed at night I sought the man who is my sweetheart: I sought but could not find him!	1 Sul mio letto, nelle notti, ho cercato colui che il mio cuore ama; l'ho cercato e non l'ho trovato.
2 So I shal get up and go through the city; in the streets and in the squares, I shall seek my sweetheart. Isought but could not find him!	2 Mi alzerò, dunque, percorrerò la città, per le strade e per le piazze cercherò colui che il mio cuore ama: l'ho cercato e non l'ho trovato.
3 I came upon the watchmen -- those who go on their rounds in the city: 'Have you seen my sweetheart?'	3 M'hanno incontrato le sentinelle, quelle che fanno la ronda per la città: "Avete visto colui che il mio cuore ama?".
4 Barely had I passed them when I found my sweetheart. I caught him, would not let him go, not til I hadbrought him to my mother's house, to the room where she conceived me!	4 Le avevo appena oltrepassate quando ho ritrovato colui che il mio cuore ama; l'ho afferrato e non l'ho più lasciato, fin che non l'ho condotto nella casa di mia madre, nella stanza di colei che mi ha concepito.
5 LOVER: I charge you, daughters of Jerusalem, by gazel es and wild does, do not rouse, do not wake mybeloved before she pleases.	5 Vi scongiuro, figlie di Gerusalemme, per le gazzelle o per le cerve del campo: non svegliate, non risvegliate l'amore finché a lei piaccia!
6 POET: What is this coming up from the desert like a column of smoke, breathing of myrrh andfrankincense and every exotic perfume?	6 Che cosa è che sale dal deserto come colonna di fumo, fra vapori di mirra e di incenso e di ogni aroma di profumiere?
7 Here comes Solomon's litter. Around it are sixty champions, the flower of the warriors of Israel;	7 Ecco la lettiga di Salomone: sessanta forti le fanno scorta fra i più forti di Israele.
8 al of them skil ed swordsmen, expert in war. Each man has his sword at his side, against alarms bynight.	8 Tutti maneggiano la spada e sono maestri nella guerra; ognuno cinge la spada al fianco contro le insidie della notte.
9 King Solomon has had a palanquin made of wood from Lebanon.	9 Un baldacchino si è fatto il re Salomone con alberi del Libano:
10 He has had the posts made of silver, the canopy of gold, the seat of purple; the centre is inlaid withebony.	10 vi ha fatto colonne d'argento e la spalliera d'oro; il suo seggio è tessuto di porpora e l'interno è intarsiato di ebano.
11 Daughters of Zion, come and see King Solomon, wearing the diadem with which his mother crownedhim on his wedding day, on the day of his heart's joy.	11 Figlie di Gerusalemme, uscite, contemplate, figlie di Sion, il re Salomone, adorno della sua corona, con la quale sua madre l'ha incoronato nel giorno del suo sposalizio, nel giorno della gioia del suo cuore.
