NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA RICCIOTTI
1 On my bed at night I sought the man who is my sweetheart: I sought but could not find him!	1 - Sul mio letto, nel cuor della notte, cercai l'amato dell'anima mia; lo cercai e non lo trovai!
2 So I shal get up and go through the city; in the streets and in the squares, I shall seek my sweetheart. Isought but could not find him!	2 «Suvvia dissi [allora] mi leverò e andrò attorno per la città: per le vie e per le piazzecercherò l'amato dell'anima mia!». Lo cercai e non lo trovai!
3 I came upon the watchmen -- those who go on their rounds in the city: 'Have you seen my sweetheart?'	3 M'incontrarono le scolte che perlustravan la città.- «L'avete visto l'amato dell'anima mia?» -
4 Barely had I passed them when I found my sweetheart. I caught him, would not let him go, not til I hadbrought him to my mother's house, to the room where she conceived me!	4 Di poco oltrepassatele, trovai l'amato dell'anima mia: l'ho afferrato, e non lo lascio, finchè non l'abbia introdotto in casa di mia madre, entro la camera della mia genitrice! Sposo.
5 LOVER: I charge you, daughters of Jerusalem, by gazel es and wild does, do not rouse, do not wake mybeloved before she pleases.	5 Vi scongiuro, o fanciulle di Gerusalemme, per le gazzelle e le cerve de' campi, non destate, non svegliate la diletta, finchè non le piaccia. Coro.
6 POET: What is this coming up from the desert like a column of smoke, breathing of myrrh andfrankincense and every exotic perfume?	6 Chi è costei che sale dal deserto, come colonna di fumo, [olezzante] di mirra e d'incenso e d'ogni polvere di profumiere?
7 Here comes Solomon's litter. Around it are sixty champions, the flower of the warriors of Israel;	7 Ecco il palanchino di Salomone: sessanta prodi l'attornianodi tra i forti d'Israele.
8 al of them skil ed swordsmen, expert in war. Each man has his sword at his side, against alarms bynight.	8 Han tutti la spada, esercitati a combattere; ognuno con la spada al fiancoa cagione de' notturni allarmi.
9 King Solomon has had a palanquin made of wood from Lebanon.	9 Una lettiga s'è fatto il re Salomonedi legno del Libano:
10 He has had the posts made of silver, the canopy of gold, the seat of purple; the centre is inlaid withebony.	10 le colonne le ha fatte d'argento, la spalliera d'oro, il sedile di porpora; l'interno fu ricamato con amoredalle donzelle di Gerusalemme.
11 Daughters of Zion, come and see King Solomon, wearing the diadem with which his mother crownedhim on his wedding day, on the day of his heart's joy.	11 Uscite, o fanciulle di Sion, a vedere il re Salomone, con la corona onde l'ha coronato sua madre il giorno delle nozze, il giorno della gioia del suo cuore.
