1 Cast your bread on the water, eventual y you wil recover it.	1 - Getta il tuo pane sulle acque correnti: chè, dopo lunghi dì, lo ritroverai!
2 Offer a share to seven or to eight people, you can never tell what disaster may occur.	2 Fa[nne] parte a sette e anche a otto, perchè non sai qual sciagura piomberà sulla terra.
3 When clouds are ful of rain, they wil shed it on the earth. If a tree fal s, whether south or north, whereit falls, there it wil lie.	3 Quando le nuvole son piene, riversan la pioggia sulla terra. Se un albero cade a mezzodì o a settentrione, là dove cade, ivi resterà.
4 Keep watching the wind and you wil never sow, keep staring at the clouds and you will never reap.	4 Chi bada al vento, non semina, e chi osserva le nuvole non mieterà mai.
5 You do not understand how the wind blows, or how the embryo grows in a woman's womb: no morecan you understand the work of God, the Creator of al .	5 Come tu ignori la via del vento, nè sai in che maniera si forman le ossa in seno della donna gravida, così ignori l'opera di Dio, ch'è il fattor d'ogni cosa.
6 In the morning, sow your seed, until evening, do not cease from labour, for of any two things you donot know which wil succeed, or which of the two is the better.	6 Al mattino semina la tua sementa, e la sera non stia oziosa la tua mano; perchè non sai quale [sementa] attecchirà meglio, se quella o questa; e se l'una e l'altra ugualmente, tanto meglio!
7 How sweet light is, how delightful it is to see the sun!	7 Dolce cosa è la luce, e gradito agli occhi di vedere il sole.
8 However many years you live, enjoy them all, but remember, the days of darkness wil be many: futilityawaits you at the end.	8 Se molti anni viva l'uomo, se li goda tutti allegramente, e pensi ai giorni tenebrosi, che saran molti. Tutto l'avvenire è vanità!
9 Young man, enjoy yourself while you are young, make the most of the days of your youth, follow theprompting and desire of heart and eye, but remember, God wil cal you to account for everything.	9 Godi, o giovane, nella tua adolescenza, e s'allieti il tuo cuore ne'dì della tua gioventù: segui le vie del tuo cuore e la vista dei tuoi occhi; ma sappi che per tutto questosarai chiamato da Dio in giudizio!
10 Rid your heart of indignation, keep your body clear of suffering, though youth and the age of blackhair are both futile.	10 Togli via il cruccio dal tuo cuore e tien lungi il male dalla tua carne. Perchè l'adolescenza e il piacere son vanità.
