NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Cast your bread on the water, eventual y you wil recover it.	1 Arroja tu pan sobre la superficie del agua y, a la larga, lo volverás a encontrar.
2 Offer a share to seven or to eight people, you can never tell what disaster may occur.	2 Da una parte a siete, y aun a ocho personas, porque ignoras qué calamidades pueden venir sobre la tierra.
3 When clouds are ful of rain, they wil shed it on the earth. If a tree fal s, whether south or north, whereit falls, there it wil lie.	3 Cuando las nubes se llenan, derraman lluvia sobre la tierra; y si un árbol cae hacia el sur o hacia el norte, queda en el mismo lugar donde cayó.]
4 Keep watching the wind and you wil never sow, keep staring at the clouds and you will never reap.	4 El que mira el viento no siembra y el que mira las nubes no cosecha.
5 You do not understand how the wind blows, or how the embryo grows in a woman's womb: no morecan you understand the work of God, the Creator of al .	5 Así como ignoras cómo llega el aliento vital a los huesos en el seno de la mujer embarazada, así también ignoras la obra de Dios, que hace todas las cosas.
6 In the morning, sow your seed, until evening, do not cease from labour, for of any two things you donot know which wil succeed, or which of the two is the better.	6 Siembra tu semilla por la mañana y no dejes que tu brazo descanse hasta la tarde, porque no sabes si es esto o aquello lo que va a prosperar, o si ambas cosas son igualmente buenas.
7 How sweet light is, how delightful it is to see the sun!	7 Dulce es la luz y es bueno para los ojos la luz del sol.
8 However many years you live, enjoy them all, but remember, the days of darkness wil be many: futilityawaits you at the end.	8 Si un hombre vive muchos años, que disfrute de todos ellos, pero recuerde que serán muchos los días sombríos y que todo lo que sucede es vanidad.
9 Young man, enjoy yourself while you are young, make the most of the days of your youth, follow theprompting and desire of heart and eye, but remember, God wil cal you to account for everything.	9 Alégrate, muchacho, mientras eres joven, y que tu corazón sea feliz en tus años juveniles. Sigue los impulsos de tu corazón y lo que es un incentivo para tus ojos; pero ten presente que por todo eso Dios te llamará a juicio.
10 Rid your heart of indignation, keep your body clear of suffering, though youth and the age of blackhair are both futile.	10 Aparta de tu corazón la tristeza y aleja de tu carne el dolor, porque la juventud y la aurora de la vida pasan fugazmente.
