1 Cast your bread on the water, eventual y you wil recover it.	1 Jette ton pain à la surface des eaux; après un temps il te reviendra.
2 Offer a share to seven or to eight people, you can never tell what disaster may occur.	2 Partage avec des associés, huit plutôt que sept, car tu ne sais pas quel malheur peut frapper le pays.
3 When clouds are ful of rain, they wil shed it on the earth. If a tree fal s, whether south or north, whereit falls, there it wil lie.	3 Quand les nuages sont pleins, ils déversent la pluie sur la terre. Comme l’arbre est tombé, que ce soit au nord ou au sud, il reste où il est tombé.
4 Keep watching the wind and you wil never sow, keep staring at the clouds and you will never reap.	4 Observer le vent, ce n’est pas semer; considérer les nuages, ce n’est pas moissonner.
5 You do not understand how the wind blows, or how the embryo grows in a woman's womb: no morecan you understand the work of God, the Creator of al .	5 Tu ne sais pas par où l’esprit est venu à l’enfant dans le sein de la femme enceinte: tu ignores tout autant l’œuvre de Dieu prise dans son ensemble.
6 In the morning, sow your seed, until evening, do not cease from labour, for of any two things you donot know which wil succeed, or which of the two is the better.	6 Sème ton grain au matin, et que le soir encore ta main s’active: tu ne sais pas lequel des deux sera profitable, peut-être l’un et l’autre.
7 How sweet light is, how delightful it is to see the sun!	7 Que la lumière est douce, et que c’est bon de voir de nos yeux le soleil!
8 However many years you live, enjoy them all, but remember, the days of darkness wil be many: futilityawaits you at the end.	8 Même après de nombreuses années, que l’homme sache les savourer toutes; mais qu’il garde en tête les jours sombres: pour l’avenir rien n’est sûr.
9 Young man, enjoy yourself while you are young, make the most of the days of your youth, follow theprompting and desire of heart and eye, but remember, God wil cal you to account for everything.	9 Connais le bonheur, garçon, alors que tu es jeune; dirige bien ton cœur aux jours de ta jeunesse. Choisis toi-même ton chemin, comme il te semble meilleur, sans oublier que Dieu te demandera compte de tout.
10 Rid your heart of indignation, keep your body clear of suffering, though youth and the age of blackhair are both futile.	10 Ne laisse pas l’amertume s’installer chez toi, ni la maladie dans ton corps: jeunesse et cheveux noirs sont traîtres!
