Psalms 81

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM

2 Strike up the music, beat the tambourine, play the melodious harp and the lyre;	2 Criez de joie pour Dieu notre force, acclamez le Dieu de Jacob.
3 blow the trumpet for the new month, for the ful moon, for our feast day!	3 Ouvrez le concert, frappez le tambourin, la douce harpe ainsi que la lyre;
4 For Israel has this statute, a decision of the God of Jacob,	4 sonnez du cor au mois nouveau, à la pleine lune, au jour de notre fête.

8 Listen, my people, while I give you warning; Israel, if only you would listen to me!	8 dans la détresse tu as crié, je t'ai sauvé. Je te répondis caché dans l'orage, je t'éprouvai aux eaux deMeriba.
9 'You shal have no strange gods, shall worship no alien god.	9 Ecoute, mon peuple, je t'adjure, ô Israël, si tu pouvais m'écouter!
10 I, Yahweh, am your God, who brought you here from Egypt, you have only to open your mouth forme to fil it.	10 Qu'il n'y ait point chez toi un dieu d'emprunt, n'adore pas un dieu étranger;
11 'My people would not listen to me, Israel would have none of me.	11 c'est moi, Yahvé, ton Dieu, qui t'ai fait monter de la terre d'Egypte, ouvre large ta bouche, et jel'emplirai.
12 So I left them to their stubborn selves, to fol ow their own devices.	12 Mon peuple n'a pas écouté ma voix, Israël ne s'est pas rendu à moi;
13 'If only my people would listen to me, if only Israel would walk in my ways,	13 je les laissai à leur coeur endurci, ils marchaient ne suivant que leur conseil.
14 at one stroke I would subdue their enemies, turn my hand against their opponents.	14 Ah! si mon peuple m'écoutait, si dans mes voies marchait Israël,
15 'Those who hate Yahweh would woo his favour, though their doom was sealed for ever,	15 en un instant j'abattrais ses adversaires et contre ses oppresseurs tournerais ma main.
16 while I would feed him on pure wheat, would give you your fil of honey from the rock.'	16 Les ennemis de Yahvé l'aduleraient, et leur temps serait à jamais révolu.
	17 Je l'aurais nourri de la fleur du froment, je t'aurais rassasié avec le miel du rocher."
