2 Strike up the music, beat the tambourine, play the melodious harp and the lyre;	2 Esultate in Dio, nostra forza,acclamate il Dio di Giacobbe!
3 blow the trumpet for the new month, for the ful moon, for our feast day!	3 Intonate il canto e suonate il tamburello,la cetra melodiosa con l’arpa.
4 For Israel has this statute, a decision of the God of Jacob,	4 Suonate il corno nel novilunio,nel plenilunio, nostro giorno di festa.
5 a decree he imposed on Joseph, when he went to war against Egypt. I heard a voice unknown to me,	5 Questo è un decreto per Israele,un giudizio del Dio di Giacobbe,
6 'I freed his shoulder from the burden, his hands were able to lay aside the labourer's basket.	6 una testimonianza data a Giuseppe,quando usciva dal paese d’Egitto.Un linguaggio mai inteso io sento:
7 You cried out in your distress, so I rescued you. 'Hidden in the storm, I answered you, I tested you atthe waters of Meribah.Pause	7 «Ho liberato dal peso la sua spalla,le sue mani hanno deposto la cesta.
8 Listen, my people, while I give you warning; Israel, if only you would listen to me!	8 Hai gridato a me nell’angosciae io ti ho liberato;nascosto nei tuoni ti ho dato risposta,ti ho messo alla prova alle acque di Merìba.
9 'You shal have no strange gods, shall worship no alien god.	9 Ascolta, popolo mio:contro di te voglio testimoniare.Israele, se tu mi ascoltassi!
10 I, Yahweh, am your God, who brought you here from Egypt, you have only to open your mouth forme to fil it.	10 Non ci sia in mezzo a te un dio estraneoe non prostrarti a un dio straniero.
11 'My people would not listen to me, Israel would have none of me.	11 Sono io il Signore, tuo Dio,che ti ha fatto salire dal paese d’Egitto:apri la tua bocca, la voglio riempire.
12 So I left them to their stubborn selves, to fol ow their own devices.	12 Ma il mio popolo non ha ascoltato la mia voce,Israele non mi ha obbedito:
13 'If only my people would listen to me, if only Israel would walk in my ways,	13 l’ho abbandonato alla durezza del suo cuore.Seguano pure i loro progetti!
14 at one stroke I would subdue their enemies, turn my hand against their opponents.	14 Se il mio popolo mi ascoltasse!Se Israele camminasse per le mie vie!
15 'Those who hate Yahweh would woo his favour, though their doom was sealed for ever,	15 Subito piegherei i suoi nemicie contro i suoi avversari volgerei la mia mano;
16 while I would feed him on pure wheat, would give you your fil of honey from the rock.'	16 quelli che odiano il Signore gli sarebbero sottomessie la loro sorte sarebbe segnata per sempre.
	17 Lo nutrirei con fiore di frumento,lo sazierei con miele dalla roccia».
