Psalms 81

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 [For the choirmaster On the . . . of Gath Of Asaph] Sing for joy to God our strength, shout in triumph tothe God of Jacob.	1 Del maestro de coro. Con la cítara de Gat. De Asaf.
2 Strike up the music, beat the tambourine, play the melodious harp and the lyre;	2 ¡Canten con júbilo a Dios, nuestra fuerza, aclamen al Dios de Jacob!
3 blow the trumpet for the new month, for the ful moon, for our feast day!	3 Entonen un canto, toquen el tambor, y la cítara armoniosa, junto con el arpa.
4 For Israel has this statute, a decision of the God of Jacob,	4 Toquen la trompeta al salir la luna nueva, y el día de luna llena, el día de nuestra fiesta.
5 a decree he imposed on Joseph, when he went to war against Egypt. I heard a voice unknown to me,	5 Porque esta es una ley para Israel, un precepto del Dios de Jacob:
6 'I freed his shoulder from the burden, his hands were able to lay aside the labourer's basket.	6 él se la impuso como norma a José, cuando salió de la tierra de Egipto. Oigo una voz desconocida que dice:
7 You cried out in your distress, so I rescued you. 'Hidden in the storm, I answered you, I tested you atthe waters of Meribah.Pause	7 Yo quité el peso de tus espaldas y tus manos quedaron libres de la carga.
8 Listen, my people, while I give you warning; Israel, if only you would listen to me!	8 Clamaste en la aflicción, y te salvé; te respondí oculto entre los truenos, aunque me provocaste junto a las aguas de Meribá.
9 'You shal have no strange gods, shall worship no alien god.	9 Oye, pueblo mío, yo atestiguo contra ti, ¡ojalá me escucharas, Israel!
10 I, Yahweh, am your God, who brought you here from Egypt, you have only to open your mouth forme to fil it.	10 No tendrás ningún Dios extraño, no adorarás a ningún dios extranjero:
11 'My people would not listen to me, Israel would have none of me.	11 yo, el Señor, soy tu Dios, que te hice subir de la tierra de Egipto.
12 So I left them to their stubborn selves, to fol ow their own devices.	12 Pero mi pueblo no escuchó mi voz, Israel no me quiso obedecer;
13 'If only my people would listen to me, if only Israel would walk in my ways,	13 por eso los entregué a su obstinación, para que se dejaran llevar por sus caprichos.
14 at one stroke I would subdue their enemies, turn my hand against their opponents.	14 ¡Ojalá mi pueblo me escuchara, e Israel siguiera mis caminos!
15 'Those who hate Yahweh would woo his favour, though their doom was sealed for ever,	15 Yo sometería a sus adversarios en un instante, y volvería mi mano contra sus opresores.
16 while I would feed him on pure wheat, would give you your fil of honey from the rock.'	16 Los enemigos del Señor tendrían que adularlo, y ese sería su destino para siempre;
	17 yo alimentaría a mi pueblo con lo mejor del trigo y lo saciaría con miel silvestre».
