Job 33

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA RICCIOTTI
1 So, Job, please listen to my words and attend to al I have to say.	1 - Ascolta dunque, o Giobbe, le mie parole, e a tutti i miei discorsi presta orecchio.
2 Now as I open my mouth, and my tongue shapes words against my palate,	2 Ecco che io apro la mia bocca, e la mia lingua nel mio palato parla;
3 I shal utter words of wisdom from the heart, my lips will speak in all sincerity.	3 dal mio schietto cuore [procedono] i miei discorsi, e le mie labbra proferiscono sentenze monde:
4 God's was the spirit that made me, Shaddai's the breath that gave me life.	4 il soffio di Dio m'ha fatto, e l'alito dell'Onnipotente mi diè vita;
5 Refute me, if you can. Prepare yourself, take up your position!	5 se tu puoi, rispondimi, e prendi posizione contro di me:
6 Look, I am your equal, not some god, like you I was moulded out of clay.	6 ecco, tanto me quanto te ha fatto Dio, e dallo stesso fango fui formato anch'io;
7 No fear of me, therefore, need affright you, my hand wil not lie heavy over you.	7 quindi, non temere di me come di cosa straordinaria, e la mia eloquenza non ti sia grave.
8 How could you say in my hearing -- for the sound of your words did not escape me-	8 Tu dunque ai detto ai miei orecchi, e il suono delle tue parole udii:
9 'I am clean, and sinless, I am pure, without fault.	9 " Puro son io, e senza delitto; immacolato e scevro d'iniquità;
10 But he keeps inventing excuses against me and regards me as his enemy.	10 [ma] poichè [Dio] trovò in me delle querele, per questo mi stima come suo nemico;
11 He puts me in the stocks, he watches my every path'?	11 nel ceppo egli ha posto i miei piedied ha osservato tutte le mie strade! ".
12 In saying so, I tel you, you are wrong: for God is greater than any human being.	12 Ebbene, questo è dove tu non hai ragione - io ti rispondo -perchè Dio è più grande dell'uomo.
13 Why then quarrel with him for not replying to you, word for word?	13 Contro di Lui vuoi tu contendere perchè non ha risposto a tutte le tue parole?
14 God speaks first in one way, and then in another, although we do not realise it.	14 In una prima maniera parla Dio, e poi una seconda ma non vi si pone mente.
15 In dreams and in night-visions, when slumber has settled on humanity and people are asleep in bed,	15 Per mezzo del sogno nella visione notturna, quando il sopore si riversa sugli uominied essi dormono sul giaciglio;
16 he speaks in someone's ear, frightens him with apparitions	16 allora apre egli l'orecchio agli uomini, e li erudisce istruendoli nella disciplina,
17 to turn him from what he is doing and to put an end to his pride.	17 affin di ritrarre l'uomo da ciò che sta operando, e liberarlo dalla superbia:
18 And thus he preserves his soul from the abyss, his life from passing down the Canal.	18 così che libera l'anima sua dallo sterminio, e la sua vita dal passar per la spada.
19 Or again, he corrects by the sufferings of the sick-bed, when someone's bones tremble continuously	19 Ovver lo castiga col dolore sul letto, e tutte le sue ossa fa imputridire;
20 and the thought of food revolts him, however tasty it is,	20 abominevole diventa a lui nel suo stato il cibo, e l'alimento al suo essere che prima lo gustava:
21 and his flesh rots away while you watch it and the bones beneath begin to show,	21 la carne di lui si va consumando, e le ossa, già ricoperte, si denudano;
22 and his soul is drawing nearer to the abyss and his life to the dwel ing of the dead.	22 così l'anima sua s'avvicina allo sterminio, e la sua vita agli esseri mortiferi.
23 Then, if there is an Angel near him, a Mediator, one in a thousand, to remind him where his duty lies,	23 Ma se vi sarà in suo favore un angeloun interprete - uno fra mille - che mostri all'uomo il suo dovere,
24 to take pity on him and to say, 'Spare him from going down to the abyss: I have found the ransom forhis life,'	24 [Dio] avrà pietà di lui e dirà:- Liberalo, sì che non scenda al [luogo di] sterminio, poichè ho trovato ciò che mi muove a sua pietà;
25 his flesh wil recover its childhood freshness, he wil return to the days of his youth.	25 la sua carne è consumata dai tormenti, [ma] ritorni come ai giorni di sua giovinezza! -
26 He wil pray to God who has restored him to favour, and wil come into his presence with joy. He wiltel others how he has received saving justice	26 Egli pregherà Dio che gli sarà propizio, mostrerà il suo volto in giubilo, e renderà all'uomo la sua giustizia;
27 and sing this hymn before his companions, 'I sinned and left the path of right, but God has notpunished me as my sin deserved.	27 questi rivolto agli uomini dirà:- Avevo peccato e veramente prevaricato, e non fui contraccambiato come meritavo! -
28 He has spared my soul from going down to the abyss and is making my life see the light.'	28 [Dio] liberò l'anima sua dal cader nella morte, sì che vivendo vedesse la luce.
29 All this is what God keeps doing again and yet again for human beings,	29 Ecco, tutto ciò opera Diopiù e più volte con ciascuno,
30 to snatch souls back from the abyss and to make the light of the living stil shine.	30 affin di ritrarre l'anima sua dallo sterminio, e illuminarla della luce dei viventi.
31 Pay attention, Job, listen to me: keep quiet, I have more to say.	31 Sta' attento, Giobbe, ascoltami, e taci mentre io parlo:
32 If you have anything to say, refute me, speak out, for I would gladly accept that you are upright.	32 se hai qualche cosa da dire, rispondimi, parla pure, perchè io gradirei darti ragione:
33 If not, then listen to me: keep quiet, and I wil teach you wisdom.	33 se non hai nulla, ascoltami, taci e io t'insegnerò la sapienza.»
