Exodus 40

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 Yahweh then spoke to Moses and said,	1 Yahvé parla à Moïse et lui dit:
2 'On the first day of the first month, you wil erect the Dwel ing, the Tent of Meeting,	2 "Le premier jour du premier mois, tu dresseras la Demeure, la Tente du Rendez-vous,
3 and place the ark of the Testimony in it and screen the ark with the curtain.	3 tu y placeras l'arche du Témoignage et tu voileras l'arche avec le rideau.
4 You will then bring in the table and arrange what has to be arranged on it. You wil then bring in thelamp-stand and set up its lamps.	4 Tu apporteras la table et tu disposeras sa garniture. Tu apporteras le candélabre et tu monteras seslampes.
5 You will place the golden altar of incense in front of the ark of the Testimony, and place the screen atthe entrance to the Dwel ing.	5 Tu mettras l'autel d'or des parfums devant l'arche du Témoignage, et tu placeras le voile à l'entrée dela Demeure.
6 You will place the altar of burnt offerings in front of the entrance to the Dwel ing, the Tent of Meeting,	6 Tu mettras l'autel des holocaustes devant l'entrée de la Demeure, de la Tente du Rendez-vous.
7 and you wil place the basin between the Tent of Meeting and the altar, and fil it with water.	7 Tu mettras le bassin entre la Tente du Rendez-vous et l'autel, et tu y mettras de l'eau.
8 You will then set up the surrounding court and hang the screen at the gateway of the court.	8 Tu placeras le parvis tout autour et tu mettras le voile à la porte du parvis.
9 Then, taking the anointing oil, you will anoint the Dwelling and everything inside, consecrating it and alits accessories; it wil then be holy.	9 Tu prendras l'huile d'onction et tu oindras la Demeure et tout ce qui est dedans; tu la consacreras,elle et tous ses accessoires, et elle sera éminemment sainte.
10 You wil then anoint the altar of burnt offerings and all its accessories, consecrating the altar; the altarwil then be especial y holy.	10 Tu oindras l'autel des holocaustes et tous ses accessoires, tu consacreras l'autel, et l'autel seraéminemment saint.
11 You wil then anoint the basin and its stand, and consecrate it.	11 Tu oindras le bassin et son socle et tu le consacreras.
12 You wil then bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance of the Tent of Meeting, bathe them thoroughly	12 Puis tu feras approcher Aaron et ses fils de l'entrée de la Tente du Rendez-vous, tu les laveras avecde l'eau,
13 and then dress Aaron in the sacred vestments, and anoint and consecrate him, to serve me in thepriesthood.	13 et tu revêtiras Aaron de ses vêtements sacrés, tu l'oindras et tu le consacreras pour qu'il exerce monsacerdoce.
14 You wil then bring his sons, dress them in tunics	14 Ses fils, tu les feras approcher, tu les revêtiras de tuniques,
15 and anoint them as you anointed their father, to serve me in the priesthood. Their anointing willconfer an everlasting priesthood on them for al their generations to come.'	15 et tu les oindras comme tu auras oint leur père, pour qu'ils exercent mon sacerdoce. Cela se ferapour que leur onction leur confère un sacerdoce éternel, dans leurs générations."
16 Moses did this; he did exactly as Yahweh had ordered him.	16 Moïse le fit. Il fit tout comme Yahvé l'avait ordonné.
17 On the first day of the first month in the second year the Dwel ing was erected.	17 Le premier jour du premier mois de la seconde année, on dressa la Demeure.
18 Moses erected the Dwel ing. He fixed its sockets, set up its frames, put its crossbars in position andset up its poles.	18 Moïse dressa la Demeure; il mit ses socles, plaça ses cadres, mit ses traverses et dressa sescolonnes.
19 He spread the tent over the Dwel ing and the covering for the tent over that, as Yahweh had orderedMoses.	19 Il étendit la tente pour la Demeure et plaça dessus la couverture de la tente, comme Yahvé l'avaitordonné à Moïse.
20 He took the Testimony and put it in the ark, positioned the shafts on the ark and put the mercy-seaton top of the ark.	20 Il prit le Témoignage, le mit dans l'arche, plaça les barres sur l'arche et mit le propitiatoire surl'arche.
21 He brought the ark into the Dwel ing and put the screening curtain in place, screening the ark of theTestimony, as Yahweh had ordered Moses.	21 Il introduisit l'arche dans la Demeure et plaça le rideau du voile; il voila ainsi l'arche duTémoignage, comme Yahvé l'avait ordonné à Moïse.
22 He put the table inside the Tent of Meeting, against the side of the Dwel ing, on the north, outside thecurtain,	22 Il mit la table dans la Tente du Rendez-vous, sur le côté de la Demeure, au nord, à l'extrémité duvoile,
23 and on it arranged the loaves before Yahweh, as Yahweh had ordered Moses.	23 et il disposa avec ordre le pain devant Yahvé, comme Yahvé l'avait ordonné à Moïse.
24 He put the lamp-stand inside the Tent of Meeting, opposite the table, on the south side of theDwelling,	24 Il plaça le candélabre dans la Tente du Rendez-vous, en face de la table, sur le côté de la Demeure,au sud,
25 and set up the lamps before Yahweh, as Yahweh had ordered Moses.	25 et monta les lampes devant Yahvé, comme Yahvé l'avait ordonné à Moïse.
26 He put the golden altar inside the Tent of Meeting, in front of the curtain,	26 Il plaça l'autel d'or dans la Tente du Rendez-vous, devant le voile,
27 and on it burnt fragrant incense, as Yahweh had ordered Moses.	27 et fit fumer dessus l'encens aromatique, comme Yahvé l'avait ordonné à Moïse.
28 He then put the screen at the entrance to the Dwel ing.	28 Puis il plaça le voile à l'entrée de la Demeure.
29 He put the altar of burnt offerings at the entrance to the Dwel ing, to the Tent of Meeting, and on itoffered the burnt offering and cereal offering, as Yahweh had ordered Moses.	29 L'autel des holocaustes, il le plaça à l'entrée de la Demeure, de la Tente du Rendez-vous, et offritdessus l'holocauste et l'oblation, comme Yahvé l'avait ordonné à Moïse.
30 He put the basin between the Tent of Meeting and the altar and put water in it for the ablutions,	30 Il plaça le bassin entre la Tente du Rendez-vous et l'autel et il y mit, pour les ablutions, de l'eau
31 where Moses, Aaron and his sons washed their hands and feet,	31 avec laquelle Moïse, Aaron et ses fils se lavaient les mains et les pieds.
32 whenever they entered the Tent of Meeting or approached the altar they washed, as Yahweh hadordered Moses.	32 Quand ils entraient dans la Tente du Rendez-vous ou qu'ils s'approchaient de l'autel, ils se lavaient,comme Yahvé l'avait ordonné à Moïse.
33 He then set up the court round the Dwel ing and the altar and set up the screen at the gate-way tothe court. Thus Moses completed the work.	33 Il dressa le parvis autour de la Demeure et de l'autel, et il mit le voile à la porte du parvis. AinsiMoïse termina les travaux.
34 The cloud then covered the Tent of Meeting and the glory of Yahweh fil ed the Dwel ing.	34 La nuée couvrit la Tente du Rendez-vous, et la gloire de Yahvé emplit la Demeure.
35 Moses could not enter the Tent of Meeting, since the cloud stayed over it and the glory of Yahwehfilled the Dwelling.	35 Moïse ne put entrer dans la Tente du Rendez-vous, car la nuée demeurait sur elle, et la gloire deYahvé emplissait la Demeure.
36 At every stage of their journey, whenever the cloud rose from the Dwel ing, the Israelites wouldresume their march.	36 A toutes leurs étapes, lorsque la nuée s'élevait au-dessus de la Demeure, les Israélites se mettaienten marche.
37 If the cloud did not rise, they would not resume their march until the day it did rise.	37 Si la nuée ne s'élevait pas, ils ne se mettaient pas en marche jusqu'au jour où elle s'élevait.
38 For Yahweh's cloud stayed over the Dwel ing during the daytime and there was fire inside the cloudat night, for the whole House of Israel to see, at every stage of their journey.	38 Car, le jour, la nuée de Yahvé était sur la Demeure et, la nuit, il y avait dedans un feu, aux yeux detoute la maison d'Israël, à toutes leurs étapes.
