NEW JERUSALEM	DIODATI
1 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said,	1 E IL Signore parlò a Mosè, dicendo: Consacrami ogni primogenito,
2 'Consecrate al the first-born to me, the first birth from every womb, among the Israelites. Whetherman or beast, it is mine.'	2 tutto quello che apre la matrice fra i figliuoli d’Israele, così degli uomini come degli animali; esso è mio.
3 Moses said to the people, 'Remember this day, on which you came out of Egypt, from the place ofslave-labour, for by the strength of his hand Yahweh brought you out of it; no leavened bread may be eaten.	3 E Mosè disse al popolo: Ricordatevi di questo giorno, nel quale siete usciti di Egitto, della casa di servitù; conciossiachè il Signore ve ne abbia tratti fuori con potente mano; perciò non mangisi alcuna cosa lievitata.
4 On this day, in the month of Abib, you are leaving,	4 Oggi voi uscite fuori nel mese di Abib.
5 and when Yahweh has brought you into the country of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, theHivites and the Jebusites, flowing with milk and honey, which he swore to your ancestors that he would give you,then you must observe this rite in the same month.	5 Quando adunque il Signore ti avrà introdotto, nel paese de’ Cananei, degl’Hittei, degli Amorrei, degl’Hivvei, e de’ Gebusei, ch’egli giurò a’ tuoi padri di darti, ch’è un paese stillante latte e miele, osserva questo servigio in questo mese.
6 For seven days you wil eat unleavened bread, and on the seventh day there must be a feast inYahweh's honour.	6 Mangia per sette giorni pani azzimi; e nel settimo giorno siavi festa solenne al Signore.
7 During these seven days unleavened bread may be eaten; no leavened bread may be seen amongyou, no leaven among you throughout your territory.	7 Manginsi pani azzimi per sette giorni, e non veggasi appo te cosa lievitata, nè lievito, in tutti i tuoi confini.
8 And on that day you wil explain to your son, "This is because of what Yahweh did for me when I cameout of Egypt."	8 E in quel giorno dichiara questa cosa a’ tuoi figliuoli, dicendo: Questo si fa per cagion di quello che mi fece il Signore, quando io uscii di Egitto.
9 This will serve as a sign on your hand would serve, or a reminder on your forehead, and in that waythe law of Yahweh will be ever on your lips: for with a mighty hand Yahweh brought you out of Egypt.	9 E ciò ti sia per segnale sopra la tua mano, e per ricordanza fra’ tuoi occhi; acciocchè la Legge del Signore sia nella tua bocca; conciossiachè egli ti abbia tratto fuori di Egitto con potente mano.
10 You shal observe this law at its appointed time, year by year.	10 E osserva questo statuto d’anno in anno, nella sua stagione
11 'When Yahweh has brought you into the Canaanites' country, as he swore to you and your ancestorsthat he would, and given it to you,	11 E quando il Signore ti avrà introdotto nel paese de’ Cananei, come egli ha giurato a te e a’ tuoi padri, e te l’avrà dato;
12 to Yahweh you must make over whatever first issues from the womb, and every first-born cast byanimals belonging to you: these males belong to Yahweh.	12 rassegna al Signore tutto ciò che apre la matrice: parimente, d’ogni primo portato del tuo bestiame, i maschi apparterranno al Signore.
13 But every first-born donkey you wil redeem with a lamb or kid; if you do not redeem it, you mustbreak its neck. Al the human first-born, however, among your sons, you wil redeem.	13 Ma riscatta ogni primo portato dell’asino, con un agnello, o con un capretto; e se tu non lo riscatti, fiaccagli il collo: riscatta eziandio ogni primogenito dell’uomo d’infra i tuoi figliuoli.
14 And when your son asks you in days to come, "What does this mean?" you wil tel him, "By thestrength of his hand Yahweh brought us out of Egypt, out of the place of slave-labour.	14 E quando per innanzi il tuo figliuolo ti domanderà: Che vuol dir questo? digli: Il Signore ci trasse fuori di Egitto, della casa di servitù, con potenza di mano.
15 When Pharaoh stubbornly refused to let us go, Yahweh killed all the first-born in Egypt, of man andbeast alike. This is why I sacrifice every male first issuing from the womb to Yahweh and redeem every first-bornof my sons."	15 E avvenne che, mostrandosi Faraone duro a lasciarci andare, il Signore uccise tutti i primogeniti nel paese di Egitto, da’ primogeniti degli uomini, fino a’ primogeniti delle bestie; perciò io sacrifico al Signore i maschi d’ogni primo portato, e riscatto ogni primogenito de’ miei figliuoli.
16 This wil serve as a sign on your hand would serve, or a headband on your forehead, for by thestrength of his hand Yahweh brought us out of Egypt.'	16 Ciò adunque ti sarà per segnale sopra la tua mano, e per frontali fra’ tuoi occhi, che il Signore ci ha tratti fuori di Egitto con potenza di mano
17 When Pharaoh had let the people go, God did not let them take the road to the Philistines' territory,although that was the shortest, 'in case', God thought, 'the prospect of fighting makes the people change theirminds and turn back to Egypt.'	17 OR, quando Faraone ebbe lasciato andare il popolo, Iddio, non condusse quello per la via del paese de’ Filistei; benchè quella fosse la più corta; perciocchè Iddio disse: Che talora il popolo non si penta, quando vedrà la guerra, e non se ne ritorni in Egitto.
18 Instead, God led the people a roundabout way through the desert of the Sea of Reeds. The Israelitesleft Egypt ful y armed.	18 Ma Iddio fece fare un giro al popolo, traendo al deserto, verso il mar rosso. E i figliuoli d’Israele salirono del paese di Egitto in ordinanza.
19 Moses took with him the bones of Joseph, since Joseph had put the Israelites on solemn oath withthe words, 'It is sure that God will visit you,' he had said, 'and when that day comes you must take my bonesaway from here with you.'	19 E Mosè prese seco l’ossa di Giuseppe; perciocchè egli avea espressamente fatto giurare i figliuoli d’Israele, dicendo: Iddio per certo vi visiterà; allora trasportate di qui le mie ossa con voi.
20 They set out from Succoth and encamped at Etham, on the edge of the desert.	20 E gl’Israeliti, partitisi di Succot, si accamparono in Etam all’estremità del deserto.
21 Yahweh preceded them, by day in a pil ar of cloud to show them the way, and by night in a pil ar offire to give them light, so that they could march by day and by night.	21 E il Signore camminava davanti a loro; di giorno, in una colonna di nuvola, per guidarli per lo cammino; e di notte, in una colonna di fuoco, per illuminarli; acciocchè camminassero giorno e notte.
22 The pil ar of cloud never left its place ahead of the people during the day, nor the pil ar of fire duringthe night.	22 Egli non rimosse dal cospetto del popolo la colonna della nuvola di giorno, nè la colonna del fuoco di notte
