Exodus 13

1 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said,	1 E il Signore parlò a Mosè, dicendo:
2 'Consecrate al the first-born to me, the first birth from every womb, among the Israelites. Whetherman or beast, it is mine.'	2 « Consacrami ogni primogenito che apre il seno della madre tra i figli d'Israele, tanto degli uomini che degli animali, perchè mie sono tutte le cose».
3 Moses said to the people, 'Remember this day, on which you came out of Egypt, from the place ofslave-labour, for by the strength of his hand Yahweh brought you out of it; no leavened bread may be eaten.	3 E Mosè disse al popolo: « Ricordatevi di questo giorno nel quale siete usciti dall'Egitto e dalla casa di schiavitù. Avendovi il Signore tratti fuori da questo luogo con mano potente, voi non mangerete pane fermentato.
4 On this day, in the month of Abib, you are leaving,	4 Voi uscite oggi, nel mese delle nuove spighe.
5 and when Yahweh has brought you into the country of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, theHivites and the Jebusites, flowing with milk and honey, which he swore to your ancestors that he would give you,then you must observe this rite in the same month.	5 Or quando il Signore ti avrà introdotto nella terra del Cananeo, dell'Eteo, dell'Amorreo, dell'Eveo e del Gebuseo, terra che egli giurò ai tuoi padri di darti, e che stilla latte e miele, tu celebrerai questo rito sacro in questo mese:
6 For seven days you wil eat unleavened bread, and on the seventh day there must be a feast inYahweh's honour.	6 mangerai azzimi per sette giorni, ed il settimo giorno sarà la festa solenne del Signore.
7 During these seven days unleavened bread may be eaten; no leavened bread may be seen amongyou, no leaven among you throughout your territory.	7 E nei sette giorni in cui dovrete mangiare azzimi, non si veda nulla di lievitato presso di te e dentro i tuoi confini.
8 And on that day you wil explain to your son, "This is because of what Yahweh did for me when I cameout of Egypt."	8 E in quel giorno istruirai il tuo figlio, dicendo: Ecco quanto fece per me il Signore quando uscii dall'Egitto.
9 This will serve as a sign on your hand would serve, or a reminder on your forehead, and in that waythe law of Yahweh will be ever on your lips: for with a mighty hand Yahweh brought you out of Egypt.	9 E ciò sarà come un segno nella tua mano, e come un monumento davanti ai tuoi occhi; affinchè la legge del Signore sia sempre nella tua bocca, dopo che il Signore ti ha tratto dall'Egitto con mano potente.
10 You shal observe this law at its appointed time, year by year.	10 Osserva adunque questa istituzione religiosa d'anno in anno, nel tempo stabilito.
11 'When Yahweh has brought you into the Canaanites' country, as he swore to you and your ancestorsthat he would, and given it to you,	11 E quando il Signore ti avrà intro dotto nella terra del Cananeo, come giurò a te e ai tuoi padri, e te l'avrà data,
12 to Yahweh you must make over whatever first issues from the womb, and every first-born cast byanimals belonging to you: these males belong to Yahweh.	12 consacrerai al Signore tutto ciò che apre il seno ed ogni primo nato del tuo bestiame: tutti i maschi che avrai li con sacrerai al Signore,
13 But every first-born donkey you wil redeem with a lamb or kid; if you do not redeem it, you mustbreak its neck. Al the human first-born, however, among your sons, you wil redeem.	13 Riscatterai il primo parto dell'asino con una pecora: se non lo vuoi riscattare, uccidilo. Ogni primogenito dei tuoi figli dovrai riscattarlo con danaro.
14 And when your son asks you in days to come, "What does this mean?" you wil tel him, "By thestrength of his hand Yahweh brought us out of Egypt, out of the place of slave-labour.	14 E quando, in avvenire, il tuo figliolo ti domanderà: E questo che significa? gli risponderai: Il Signore ci trasse con braccio forte dalla terra d'Egitto, dalla casa di schiavitù.
15 When Pharaoh stubbornly refused to let us go, Yahweh killed all the first-born in Egypt, of man andbeast alike. This is why I sacrifice every male first issuing from the womb to Yahweh and redeem every first-bornof my sons."	15 Siccome allora, essendosi Faraone ostinato, e non volendo lasciarci partire, il Signore uccise tutti i primogeniti nella terra d'Egitto, dal primogenito dell'uomo fino a quello dei giumenti, per questo io sacrifico al Signore ogni maschio che apre il seno, e riscatto tutti i primogeniti dei miei figli.
16 This wil serve as a sign on your hand would serve, or a headband on your forehead, for by thestrength of his hand Yahweh brought us out of Egypt.'	16 Ciò sarà dunque come un segno nella tua mano, come qualche cosa che per ricordo pende in mezzo agli occhi, perchè il Signore ci trasse dall'Egitto con braccio potente ».
17 When Pharaoh had let the people go, God did not let them take the road to the Philistines' territory,although that was the shortest, 'in case', God thought, 'the prospect of fighting makes the people change theirminds and turn back to Egypt.'	17 Or dopo che Faraone ebbe lasciato partire il popolo, Dio non lo condusse per la via del paese dei Filistei, che era la più breve, ma pensando che, se avesse incontrato delle guerre, forse, pentito, sarebbe tornato in Egitto,
18 Instead, God led the people a roundabout way through the desert of the Sea of Reeds. The Israelitesleft Egypt ful y armed.	18 lo fece girare per la via del deserto, che è lungo il Mar Rosso. E i figli d'Israele salirono armati dall'Egitto.
19 Moses took with him the bones of Joseph, since Joseph had put the Israelites on solemn oath withthe words, 'It is sure that God will visit you,' he had said, 'and when that day comes you must take my bonesaway from here with you.'	19 E Mosè prese con sè anche le ossa di Giuseppe, il quale aveva fatto giurare i figli d'Israele dicendo: « Dio vi visiterà: allora trasportate con voi le mie ossa ».
20 They set out from Succoth and encamped at Etham, on the edge of the desert.	20 Poi, lasciato Socot, gl'israeliti si accamparono in Etam, al confine del deserto.
21 Yahweh preceded them, by day in a pil ar of cloud to show them the way, and by night in a pil ar offire to give them light, so that they could march by day and by night.	21 E il Signore li precedeva per mostrar loro la strada, in una colonna di nube il giorno, e di fuoco la notte, per essere di giorno e di notte loro guida.
22 The pil ar of cloud never left its place ahead of the people during the day, nor the pil ar of fire duringthe night.	22 Nè mancò mai davanti al popolo la colonna di nuvola, il giorno, la colonna di fuoco, la notte.
