Exodus 13

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said,	1 Il Signore parlò a Mosè dicendo:
2 'Consecrate al the first-born to me, the first birth from every womb, among the Israelites. Whetherman or beast, it is mine.'	2 "Consacrami ogni primogenito che apre il grembo tra i figli d'Israele: uomo e animale sono miei".
3 Moses said to the people, 'Remember this day, on which you came out of Egypt, from the place ofslave-labour, for by the strength of his hand Yahweh brought you out of it; no leavened bread may be eaten.	3 Mosè disse al popolo: "Ricordati di questo giorno, nel quale siete usciti dall'Egitto, da una casa di schiavitù, perché con mano forte il Signore vi ha fatto uscire di là: non si mangerà del lievitato.
4 On this day, in the month of Abib, you are leaving,	4 Oggi voi uscite, nel mese di Abib.
5 and when Yahweh has brought you into the country of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, theHivites and the Jebusites, flowing with milk and honey, which he swore to your ancestors that he would give you,then you must observe this rite in the same month.	5 Quando il Signore ti avrà condotto nella terra del Cananeo, dell'Hittita, dell'Amorreo, dell'Eveo e del Gebuseo, che ha giurato ai tuoi padri di darti, terra dove scorre latte e miele, farai tale rito in questo mese.
6 For seven days you wil eat unleavened bread, and on the seventh day there must be a feast inYahweh's honour.	6 Per sette giorni mangerai azzimi, e nel settimo giorno ci sarà una festa per il Signore.
7 During these seven days unleavened bread may be eaten; no leavened bread may be seen amongyou, no leaven among you throughout your territory.	7 Azzimi si mangerà per sette giorni, e non si vedrà presso di te del lievitato, né si vedrà presso di te del lievito, in tutto il tuo territorio.
8 And on that day you wil explain to your son, "This is because of what Yahweh did for me when I cameout of Egypt."	8 In quel giorno ti esprimerai così con tuo figlio: "E' per quello che il Signore mi ha fatto quando uscii dall'Egitto".
9 This will serve as a sign on your hand would serve, or a reminder on your forehead, and in that waythe law of Yahweh will be ever on your lips: for with a mighty hand Yahweh brought you out of Egypt.	9 E sarà per te un segno sulla tua mano e un ricordo tra i tuoi occhi, perché la legge del Signore sia nella tua bocca, poiché con mano forte il Signore ti ha fatto uscire d'Egitto.
10 You shal observe this law at its appointed time, year by year.	10 Osserverai questa prescrizione nel tempo stabilito, di anno in anno".
11 'When Yahweh has brought you into the Canaanites' country, as he swore to you and your ancestorsthat he would, and given it to you,	11 "Quando il Signore ti avrà condotto nel paese del Cananeo, come l'ha giurato a te e ai tuoi padri, e te l'avrà dato,
12 to Yahweh you must make over whatever first issues from the womb, and every first-born cast byanimals belonging to you: these males belong to Yahweh.	12 riserverai per il Signore ogni essere che apre il grembo e ogni parto dell'animale che avrai: i maschi sono del Signore.
13 But every first-born donkey you wil redeem with a lamb or kid; if you do not redeem it, you mustbreak its neck. Al the human first-born, however, among your sons, you wil redeem.	13 Ogni primo nato d'asino lo riscatterai con un animale del gregge, e se non lo potrai riscattare, gli spezzerai la nuca. Ogni primogenito d'uomo, tra i tuoi figli, lo riscatterai.
14 And when your son asks you in days to come, "What does this mean?" you wil tel him, "By thestrength of his hand Yahweh brought us out of Egypt, out of the place of slave-labour.	14 E se tuo figlio domani ti domanderà: "Che cos'è questo?", gli dirai: "Con mano forte il Signore ci ha fatto uscire dall'Egitto, dalla casa di schiavitù.
15 When Pharaoh stubbornly refused to let us go, Yahweh killed all the first-born in Egypt, of man andbeast alike. This is why I sacrifice every male first issuing from the womb to Yahweh and redeem every first-bornof my sons."	15 E poiché il faraone si ostinava a non mandarci via, il Signore fece morire tutti i primogeniti in terra d'Egitto, dal primogenito dell'uomo al primogenito dell'animale: per questo sacrifico al Signore ogni maschio che apre il grembo, e riscatto ogni primogenito dei miei figli".
16 This wil serve as a sign on your hand would serve, or a headband on your forehead, for by thestrength of his hand Yahweh brought us out of Egypt.'	16 E sarà come segno nella tua mano e come pendaglio tra i tuoi occhi, poiché con mano forte il Signore ci ha fatto uscire dalla terra d'Egitto".
17 When Pharaoh had let the people go, God did not let them take the road to the Philistines' territory,although that was the shortest, 'in case', God thought, 'the prospect of fighting makes the people change theirminds and turn back to Egypt.'	17 Quando il faraone mandò via il popolo, Dio non fu contento che prendessero la strada della terra dei Filistei, benché fosse la più breve, poiché Dio disse: "Perché il popolo non si penta quando vedrà la guerra e ritornino in Egitto".
18 Instead, God led the people a roundabout way through the desert of the Sea of Reeds. The Israelitesleft Egypt ful y armed.	18 Dio fece girare il popolo per la strada del deserto verso il Mar Rosso: ben equipaggiati, i figli d'Israele uscirono dalla terra d'Egitto.
19 Moses took with him the bones of Joseph, since Joseph had put the Israelites on solemn oath withthe words, 'It is sure that God will visit you,' he had said, 'and when that day comes you must take my bonesaway from here with you.'	19 Mosè prese le ossa di Giuseppe con sé, perché quegli aveva fatto giurare i figli d'Israele così: "Dio vi visiterà; farete allora salire le mie ossa di qui con voi".
20 They set out from Succoth and encamped at Etham, on the edge of the desert.	20 Partirono da Succot e si accamparono a Etam, ai margini del deserto.
21 Yahweh preceded them, by day in a pil ar of cloud to show them the way, and by night in a pil ar offire to give them light, so that they could march by day and by night.	21 Il Signore andava davanti a loro di giorno con una colonna di nube per condurli nella strada, e di notte con una colonna di fuoco per illuminarli, perché potessero andare di giorno e di notte.
22 The pil ar of cloud never left its place ahead of the people during the day, nor the pil ar of fire duringthe night.	22 Né la colonna di nube di giorno né la colonna di fuoco la notte si ritirava dalla vista del popolo.
