1 Yahweh said to Moses and Aaron in Egypt,	1 ויאמר יהוה אל משה ואל אהרן בארץ מצרים לאמר
2 'This month must be the first of al the months for you, the first month of your year.	2 החדש הזה לכם ראש חדשים ראשון הוא לכם לחדשי השנה
3 Speak to the whole community of Israel and say, "On the tenth day of this month each man must takean animal from the flock for his family: one animal for each household.	3 דברו אל כל עדת ישראל לאמר בעשר לחדש הזה ויקחו להם איש שה לבית אבת שה לבית
4 If the household is too smal for the animal, he must join with his neighbour nearest to his house,depending on the number of persons. When you choose the animal, you wil take into account what each caneat.	4 ואם ימעט הבית מהית משה ולקח הוא ושכנו הקרב אל ביתו במכסת נפשת איש לפי אכלו תכסו על השה
5 It must be an animal without blemish, a male one year old; you may choose it either from the sheep orfrom the goats.	5 שה תמים זכר בן שנה יהיה לכם מן הכבשים ומן העזים תקחו
6 You must keep it til the fourteenth day of the month when the whole assembly of the community ofIsrael wil slaughter it at twilight.	6 והיה לכם למשמרת עד ארבעה עשר יום לחדש הזה ושחטו אתו כל קהל עדת ישראל בין הערבים
7 Some of the blood must then be taken and put on both door-posts and the lintel of the houses where itis eaten.	7 ולקחו מן הדם ונתנו על שתי המזוזת ועל המשקוף על הבתים אשר יאכלו אתו בהם
8 That night, the flesh must be eaten, roasted over the fire; it must be eaten with unleavened bread andbitter herbs.	8 ואכלו את הבשר בלילה הזה צלי אש ומצות על מררים יאכלהו
9 Do not eat any of it raw or boiled in water, but roasted over the fire, with the head, feet and entrails.	9 אל תאכלו ממנו נא ובשל מבשל במים כי אם צלי אש ראשו על כרעיו ועל קרבו
10 You must not leave any of it over till the morning: whatever is left till morning you must burn.	10 ולא תותירו ממנו עד בקר והנתר ממנו עד בקר באש תשרפו
11 This is how you must eat it: with a belt round your waist, your sandals on your feet and your staff inyour hand. You must eat it hurriedly: it is a Passover in Yahweh's honour.	11 וככה תאכלו אתו מתניכם חגרים נעליכם ברגליכם ומקלכם בידכם ואכלתם אתו בחפזון פסח הוא ליהוה
12 That night, I shal go through Egypt and strike down all the first-born in Egypt, man and beast alike,and shal execute justice on al the gods of Egypt, I, Yahweh!	12 ועברתי בארץ מצרים בלילה הזה והכיתי כל בכור בארץ מצרים מאדם ועד בהמה ובכל אלהי מצרים אעשה שפטים אני יהוה
13 The blood wil be a sign for you on the houses where you are. When I see the blood I shall pass overyou, and you wil escape the destructive plague when I strike Egypt.	13 והיה הדם לכם לאת על הבתים אשר אתם שם וראיתי את הדם ופסחתי עלכם ולא יהיה בכם נגף למשחית בהכתי בארץ מצרים
14 This day must be commemorated by you, and you must keep it as a feast in Yahweh's honour. Youmust keep it as a feast-day for al generations; this is a decree for al time.	14 והיה היום הזה לכם לזכרון וחגתם אתו חג ליהוה לדרתיכם חקת עולם תחגהו
15 "For seven days you must eat unleavened bread. On the first day you must clean the leaven out ofyour houses, for anyone who eats leavened bread from the first to the seventh day must be outlawed from Israel.	15 שבעת ימים מצות תאכלו אך ביום הראשון תשביתו שאר מבתיכם כי כל אכל חמץ ונכרתה הנפש ההוא מישראל מיום הראשן עד יום השבעי
16 On the first day you must hold a sacred assembly, and on the seventh day a sacred assembly. Onthose days no work may be done; you wil prepare only what each requires to eat.	16 וביום הראשון מקרא קדש וביום השביעי מקרא קדש יהיה לכם כל מלאכה לא יעשה בהם אך אשר יאכל לכל נפש הוא לבדו יעשה לכם
17 You must keep the feast of Unleavened Bread because it was on that same day that I brought yourarmies out of Egypt. You wil keep that day, generation after generation; this is a decree for al time.	17 ושמרתם את המצות כי בעצם היום הזה הוצאתי את צבאותיכם מארץ מצרים ושמרתם את היום הזה לדרתיכם חקת עולם
18 In the first month, from the evening of the fourteenth day until the evening of the twenty-first day, youmust eat unleavened bread.	18 בראשן בארבעה עשר יום לחדש בערב תאכלו מצת עד יום האחד ועשרים לחדש בערב
19 For seven days there may be no leaven in your houses, since anyone, either stranger or citizen ofthe country, who eats leavened bread wil be outlawed from the community of Israel.	19 שבעת ימים שאר לא ימצא בבתיכם כי כל אכל מחמצת ונכרתה הנפש ההוא מעדת ישראל בגר ובאזרח הארץ
20 You wil eat nothing with leaven in it; wherever you live, you will eat unleavened bread." '	20 כל מחמצת לא תאכלו בכל מושבתיכם תאכלו מצות
21 Moses summoned al the elders of Israel and said to them, 'Go and choose a lamb or kid for yourfamilies, and kil the Passover victim.	21 ויקרא משה לכל זקני ישראל ויאמר אלהם משכו וקחו לכם צאן למשפחתיכם ושחטו הפסח
22 Then take a bunch of hyssop, dip it in the blood that is in the basin, and with the blood from the basintouch the lintel and both door-posts; then let none of you venture out of the house til morning.	22 ולקחתם אגדת אזוב וטבלתם בדם אשר בסף והגעתם אל המשקוף ואל שתי המזוזת מן הדם אשר בסף ואתם לא תצאו איש מפתח ביתו עד בקר
23 Then, when Yahweh goes through Egypt to strike it, and sees the blood on the lintel and on bothdoor-posts, he wil pass over the door and not al ow the Destroyer to enter your homes and strike.	23 ועבר יהוה לנגף את מצרים וראה את הדם על המשקוף ועל שתי המזוזת ופסח יהוה על הפתח ולא יתן המשחית לבא אל בתיכם לנגף
24 You wil observe this as a decree binding you and your children for al time,	24 ושמרתם את הדבר הזה לחק לך ולבניך עד עולם
25 and when you have entered the country which Yahweh will give you, as he has promised, you wilobserve this ritual.	25 והיה כי תבאו אל הארץ אשר יתן יהוה לכם כאשר דבר ושמרתם את העבדה הזאת
26 And when your children ask you, "What does this ritual mean?"	26 והיה כי יאמרו אליכם בניכם מה העבדה הזאת לכם
27 you will tel them, "It is the Passover sacrifice in honour of Yahweh who passed over the houses ofthe Israelites in Egypt, and struck Egypt but spared our houses." ' And the people bowed in worship.	27 ואמרתם זבח פסח הוא ליהוה אשר פסח על בתי בני ישראל במצרים בנגפו את מצרים ואת בתינו הציל ויקד העם וישתחוו
28 The Israelites then went away and did as Yahweh had ordered Moses and Aaron.	28 וילכו ויעשו בני ישראל כאשר צוה יהוה את משה ואהרן כן עשו
29 And at midnight Yahweh struck down al the first-born in Egypt from the first-born of Pharaoh, heir tohis throne, to the first-born of the prisoner in the dungeon, and the first-born of all the livestock.	29 ויהי בחצי הלילה ויהוה הכה כל בכור בארץ מצרים מבכר פרעה הישב על כסאו עד בכור השבי אשר בבית הבור וכל בכור בהמה
30 Pharaoh and al his officials and al the Egyptians got up in the night, and there was great wailing inEgypt, for there was not a house without its dead.	30 ויקם פרעה לילה הוא וכל עבדיו וכל מצרים ותהי צעקה גדלה במצרים כי אין בית אשר אין שם מת
31 It was stil dark when Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said, 'Up, leave my subjects, youand the Israelites! Go and worship Yahweh as you have asked!	31 ויקרא למשה ולאהרן לילה ויאמר קומו צאו מתוך עמי גם אתם גם בני ישראל ולכו עבדו את יהוה כדברכם
32 And take your flocks and herds as you have asked, and go! And bless me too!'	32 גם צאנכם גם בקרכם קחו כאשר דברתם ולכו וברכתם גם אתי
33 The Egyptians urged the people on and hurried them out of the country because, they said,'Otherwise we shal al be dead.'	33 ותחזק מצרים על העם למהר לשלחם מן הארץ כי אמרו כלנו מתים
34 So the people carried off their dough stil unleavened, their bowls wrapped in their cloaks, on theirshoulders.	34 וישא העם את בצקו טרם יחמץ משארתם צררת בשמלתם על שכמם
35 The Israelites did as Moses had told them and asked the Egyptians for silver and golden jewel ery,and clothing.	35 ובני ישראל עשו כדבר משה וישאלו ממצרים כלי כסף וכלי זהב ושמלת
36 Yahweh made the Egyptians so much impressed with the people that they gave them what theyasked. So they despoiled the Egyptians.	36 ויהוה נתן את חן העם בעיני מצרים וישאלום וינצלו את מצרים
37 The Israelites left Rameses for Succoth, about six hundred thousand on the march-men, that is, notcounting their families.	37 ויסעו בני ישראל מרעמסס סכתה כשש מאות אלף רגלי הגברים לבד מטף
38 A mixed crowd of people went with them, and flocks and herds, quantities of livestock.	38 וגם ערב רב עלה אתם וצאן ובקר מקנה כבד מאד
39 And with the dough which they had brought from Egypt they baked unleavened cakes, because thedough had not risen, since they had been driven out of Egypt without time to linger or to prepare food forthemselves.	39 ויאפו את הבצק אשר הוציאו ממצרים עגת מצות כי לא חמץ כי גרשו ממצרים ולא יכלו להתמהמה וגם צדה לא עשו להם
40 The time that the Israelites spent in Egypt was four hundred and thirty years.	40 ומושב בני ישראל אשר ישבו במצרים שלשים שנה וארבע מאות שנה
41 And on the very day the four hundred and thirty years ended, al Yahweh's armies left Egypt.	41 ויהי מקץ שלשים שנה וארבע מאות שנה ויהי בעצם היום הזה יצאו כל צבאות יהוה מארץ מצרים
42 The night when Yahweh kept vigil to bring them out of Egypt must be kept as a vigil in honour ofYahweh by al Israelites, for al generations.	42 ליל שמרים הוא ליהוה להוציאם מארץ מצרים הוא הלילה הזה ליהוה שמרים לכל בני ישראל לדרתם
43 Yahweh said to Moses and Aaron, 'This is the ritual for the Passover: no alien may eat it,	43 ויאמר יהוה אל משה ואהרן זאת חקת הפסח כל בן נכר לא יאכל בו
44 but any slave bought for money may eat it, once you have circumcised him.	44 וכל עבד איש מקנת כסף ומלתה אתו אז יאכל בו
45 No stranger and no hired servant may eat it.	45 תושב ושכיר לא יאכל בו
46 It must be eaten in one house alone; you wil not take any of the meat out of the house; nor may youbreak any of its bones.	46 בבית אחד יאכל לא תוציא מן הבית מן הבשר חוצה ועצם לא תשברו בו
47 'The whole community of Israel must keep it.	47 כל עדת ישראל יעשו אתו
48 Should a stranger residing with you wish to keep the Passover in honour of Yahweh, al the males ofhis household must be circumcised: he wil then be al owed to keep it and wil count as a citizen of the country.But no uncircumcised person may eat it.	48 וכי יגור אתך גר ועשה פסח ליהוה המול לו כל זכר ואז יקרב לעשתו והיה כאזרח הארץ וכל ערל לא יאכל בו
49 The same law will apply to the citizen and the stranger resident among you.'	49 תורה אחת יהיה לאזרח ולגר הגר בתוככם
50 The Israelites all did as Yahweh had ordered Moses and Aaron,	50 ויעשו כל בני ישראל כאשר צוה יהוה את משה ואת אהרן כן עשו
51 and that same day Yahweh brought the Israelites out of Egypt in their armies.	51 ויהי בעצם היום הזה הוציא יהוה את בני ישראל מארץ מצרים על צבאתם
