1 Every day, meanwhile, Tobit kept reckoning the days required for the journey there and the journeyback. The full number went by, and stil his son had not come.	1 Pendant ce temps, Tobit comptait les jours. Il calculait le temps qu’il fallait pour aller et revenir, et quand le temps fut passé, sans que son fils soit revenu,
2 Then he thought, 'I hope he has not been delayed there! I hope Gabael is not dead, so that no one wilgive him the silver.'	2 il pensa: “Pourvu qu’il ne soit pas retenu là-bas. Pourvu que Gabaël ne soit pas mort. Il n’y avait peut-être personne pour lui remettre l’argent.”
3 And he began to worry.	3 Il commença à s’inquiéter.
4 His wife Anna kept saying, 'My son is dead! He is no longer among the living!' And she began to weepand mourn over her son. She kept saying,	4 Sa femme Ana disait: “J’ai perdu mon fils! Il n’est plus au nombre des vivants!” Et elle se mit à pleurer et à se lamenter sur son fils:
5 'Alas! I should never have let you leave me, my child, you, the light of my eyes.'	5 “Quel malheur! Pourquoi t’ai-je laissé partir, mon enfant? Tu étais la lumière de mes yeux.”
6 And Tobit would reply, 'Hush, my sister! Do not worry. Al is wel with him. Something has happenedthere to delay them. His companion is someone we can trust, one of our kinsmen at that. Do not lose heart, mysister.	6 Tobit lui répondait: “Calme-toi ma sœur! Ne te mets pas de mauvaises idées en tête! Il est sûrement en bonne santé, mais ils auront été retardés là-bas. Son compagnon est un homme de confiance, c’est un frère. Ne t’inquiète pas ma sœur, il va revenir d’un moment à l’autre.”
7 He will soon be here.' But al she would say was, 'Leave me alone; do not try to deceive me. My childis dead.' And every day she would go abruptly out to watch the road by which her son had left. She trusted noeyes but her own. Once the sun had set she would come home again, only to weep and moan al night, unableto sleep. Ne me raconte pas d’histoires, mon enfant est mort!” Et tous les jours elle sortait pour regarder sur la route par laquelle son fils était parti; elle n’avait plus confiance en personne. Et lorsque le soleil se couchait, elle rentrait, pleurait et se lamentait toute la nuit sans pouvoir dormir. Au bout des 14 jours de noces que Ragouël avait juré de faire pour sa fille, Tobie lui dit: “Laisse-moi partir, mon père et ma mère doivent se demander s’ils me reverront. Je t’en prie, père, laisse-moi rentrer chez mon père; je t’ai dit dans quel état je l’ai laissé.”
8 Raguel said to Tobias, 'Stay, my son, stay with me. I shal send messengers to your father Tobit togive him news of you.'	8 Ragouël dit à Tobie: “Reste encore, mon fils, reste près de moi. J’enverrai des messagers à ton père Tobit pour lui donner de tes nouvelles.”
9 But Tobias pressed him, 'No, I beg you to let me go back to my father's house.'	9 Mais Tobie insista: “Non, je te demande de me laisser retourner chez mon père.”
10 Without more ado, Raguel committed Sarah his bride into his keeping. He gave Tobias half hiswealth, slaves, men and women, oxen and sheep, donkeys and camels, clothes and money and householdthings.	10 Aussitôt Ragouël lui remit son épouse Sarra, il remit à Tobie la moitié de ses biens en serviteurs et servantes, en bœufs, brebis, ânes et chameaux, en habits, en argent et en objets de toute sorte.
11 And so he let them leave happily. To Tobias he said these parting words, 'Good health, my son, anda happy journey! May the Lord of heaven be gracious to you and to your wife Sarah! I hope to see your childrenbefore I die.'	11 Il les laissa partir dans les meilleures conditions, adressant à Tobie ces paroles d’adieu: “Bonne santé, mon fils, et bon voyage. Que le Seigneur du ciel soit avec toi et avec ta femme Sarra! J’espère bien voir vos enfants avant de mourir!”
12 To his daughter Sarah he said, 'Go now to your father-in-law's house, since henceforward they areas much your parents as those who gave you life. Go in peace, my daughter, I hope to hear nothing but good ofyou, as long as I live.' He said goodbye to them and let them go. Edna in her turn said to Tobias, 'Dear son andbrother, may it please the Lord to bring you back again! I hope to live long enough to see the children of you andmy daughter Sarah before I die. In the sight of the Lord I give my daughter into your keeping. Never make herunhappy as long as you live. Go in peace, my son. Henceforward I am your mother and Sarah is your sister.May we al live happily for the rest of our lives!' And she kissed them both and saw them set out happily.	12 Il ajouta pour sa fille: “Va chez ton beau-père, puisque désormais ils sont tes parents tout comme ceux qui t’ont donné le jour. Va en paix, ma fille. Je suis sûr que je n’entendrai dire que du bien de toi aussi longtemps que je vivrai.” Il leur fit ses adieux et les laissa partir. À son tour, Edna dit à Tobie: “Fils et frère très cher, que le Seigneur te ramène. Je souhaite voir vos enfants, à toi et à ma fille Sarra, avant de mourir. Devant le Seigneur je te confie ma fille. Ne lui fais pas de peine aussi longtemps qu’elle vivra. Va en paix, mon fils. Désormais je suis ta mère et Sarra est ta sœur. Que notre vie à tous se déroule jusqu’au bout sans malheur.” Elle les embrassa tous les deux et les laissa partir, emportant leur bonheur avec eux.
13 Tobias left Raguel's house with his mind at ease. In his gladness he blessed the Lord of heaven andearth, the King of al that is, for the happy issue of his travels. He gave this blessing to Raguel and his wife Edna,'May it be my happiness to honour you for the rest of my life!'	13 Tobie partit de chez Ragouël content et joyeux. Il bénissait le Seigneur du ciel et de la terre, le roi de l’univers, de la bonne réussite de ce voyage! Il bénit aussi Ragouël et sa femme Edna: “Seigneur, veille sur eux tous les jours de leur vie!”
