Ezra 3

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 When the seventh month came after the Israelites had been resettled in their towns, the peoplegathered as one person in Jerusalem.	1 Come giunse il settimo mese, mentre i figli d'Israele erano nelle loro città, il popolo si adunò come un sol uomo in Gerusalemme.
2 Then Jeshua son of Jozadak, with his brother priests, and Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, with his brothers,set about rebuilding the altar of the God of Israel, to offer burnt offerings on it as prescribed in the Law of Mosesman of God.	2 Si levò allora Giosuè figlio di Iozadak, assieme ai suoi fratelli sacerdoti e a Zorobabele, figlio di Sealtiel, con i fratelli suoi, e costruirono l'altare del Dio d'Israele, per offrirvi olocausti, come sta scritto nella legge di Mosè, uomo di Dio.
3 They erected the altar on its old site, despite their fear of the people of the country, and on it theypresented burnt offerings to Yahweh, burnt offerings morning and evening;	3 Ristabilirono l'altare sul suo fondamento, benché su di loro gravasse il timore dei popoli del paese; sopra di esso offrirono olocausti al Signore, olocausti del mattino e della sera.
4 they celebrated the feast of Shelters as prescribed, offering daily the number of burnt offerings requiredfrom day to day,	4 Celebrarono la festa delle Capanne, come sta scritto, e offrirono olocausti ogni giorno, nella quantità che è di regola giorno per giorno.
5 and in addition presented the continual burnt offerings prescribed for the Sabbaths, for the New Moonsand for al the festivals sacred to Yahweh, as well as those voluntary offerings made by individuals to Yahweh.	5 Da allora si continuò ad offrire l'olocausto perpetuo e l'olocausto per i noviluni e per tutti i tempi sacri del Signore, e per chiunque facesse qualche offerta volontaria al Signore.
6 From the first day of the seventh month they began presenting burnt offerings to Yahweh, though thefoundations of the Temple of Yahweh had not yet been laid.	6 Cominciarono a offrire olocausti al Signore dal primo giorno del settimo mese, benché le fondamenta del tempio del Signore non fossero ancora state poste.
7 They also contributed money for the masons and carpenters, and food, drink and oil for the Sidoniansand Tyrians for bringing cedar wood from Lebanon by sea to Jaffa, for which Cyrus king of Persia had givenpermission.	7 Diedero allora denaro ai tagliapietre e ai legnaioli, viveri e bevande e olio a quelli di Sidone e di Tiro, perché facessero giungere legni di cedro dal Libano a Giaffa, via mare, secondo l'autorizzazione di Ciro, re di Persia, a loro favore.
8 It was in the second month of the second year after their arrival at the Temple of God in Jerusalem thatZerubbabel son of Shealtiel and Jeshua son of Jozadak, with the rest of their brothers, the priests, the Levitesand all the people who had returned to Jerusalem from captivity, began the work by appointing some of theLevites who were twenty years old or more to superintend the work on the Temple of Yahweh.	8 Nel secondo anno dal loro arrivo alla casa di Dio in Gerusalemme, nel secondo mese, Zorobabele, figlio di Sealtiel, e Giosuè, figlio di Iozadak, e gli altri loro fratelli sacerdoti e i leviti e quanti erano venuti dalla prigionia a Gerusalemme, si misero all'opera. Posero a dirigere il lavoro della casa del Signore i leviti dai vent'anni in su.
9 The Levites, Jeshua, his sons and his brothers, with Kadmiel, Binnui and his sons, the sons ofHodaviah, agreed to superintend the men working on the Temple of God.	9 Giosuè, i suoi figli e fratelli, Kadmiel, Binnui e Odavia dirigevano come un sol uomo gli esecutori del lavoro nella casa di Dio; così pure i figli di Chenadad, i loro figlioli e i loro fratelli leviti.
10 When the builders had laid the foundations of the Temple of Yahweh, the priests in their robes stoodforward with trumpets, and the Levites, the sons of Asaph, with cymbals, to praise Yahweh according to theordinances of David king of Israel.	10 Mentre i costruttori gettavano le fondamenta del tempio del Signore, i sacerdoti assistevano nei loro paramenti con trombe, e i leviti figli di Asaf con cembali, inneggiando al Signore secondo gli ordini di Davide, re d'Israele.
11 They chanted praise and thanksgiving to Yahweh because for Israel, they said, 'he is good, andeverlasting in his faithful love.' Then al the people raised a mighty shout of praise to Yahweh, since thefoundations of the Temple of Yahweh had now been laid.	11 Lodavano e ringraziavano il Signore, poiché "egli è buono, la sua misericordia verso Israele è per sempre!". Tutto il popolo mandava alte grida di gioia lodando il Signore, perché venivano poste le fondamenta della casa del Signore.
12 Many of the older priests, Levites and heads of families, who had seen the first temple, wept veryloudly when the foundations of this one were laid before their eyes, but many others shouted aloud for joy,	12 Molti però dei sacerdoti e leviti e capifamiglia anziani, che avevano visto l'antico tempio, singhiozzavano forte mentre davanti ai loro occhi venivano gettate le fondamenta di quello nuovo, ma i più alzavano grida con voci di gioia e d'allegrezza;
13 so that nobody could distinguish the noise of the joyful shout from the noise of the people's weeping;for the people shouted so loudly that the noise could be heard far away.	13 cosicché non si poteva distinguere la voce di gioia e d'allegrezza dalla voce di pianto, perché la folla lanciava grida possenti, tanto che il frastuono si udiva da lontano.
