1 When the seventh month came after the Israelites had been resettled in their towns, the peoplegathered as one person in Jerusalem.	1 E già veniva il settimo mese, e i figliuoli d'Israele se ne stavano nelle loro città, quando si adunò tutto il popolo come un sol uomo a Gerusalemme.
2 Then Jeshua son of Jozadak, with his brother priests, and Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, with his brothers,set about rebuilding the altar of the God of Israel, to offer burnt offerings on it as prescribed in the Law of Mosesman of God.	2 E Josuè figliuolo di Josedec, e i sacerdoti suoi fratelli, e Zorobabel figliuolo di Salathiel, co' suoi fratelli, in trapresero di erigere l'altare di Dio d'Israele per offerirvi gli olocausti, conforme sta scritto nella legge di Mosè uomo di Dio.
3 They erected the altar on its old site, despite their fear of the people of the country, and on it theypresented burnt offerings to Yahweh, burnt offerings morning and evening;	3 E posarono l'altare di Dio sulla sua base, benché ne li distogliessero i popoli de' paesi circonvicini: e sopra di questo altare offersero olocausto al Signore mattina, e sera.
4 they celebrated the feast of Shelters as prescribed, offering daily the number of burnt offerings requiredfrom day to day,	4 E celebraron la solennità de' tabernacoli nella maniera prescritta, e offersero l'olocausto ogni dì, conforme era ordinato di fare giorno per giorno.
5 and in addition presented the continual burnt offerings prescribed for the Sabbaths, for the New Moonsand for al the festivals sacred to Yahweh, as well as those voluntary offerings made by individuals to Yahweh.	5 E dipoi l'olocausto perpetuo tanto nelle calende, come in tutte le solennità consagrate al Signore, e per chiunque spontaneamente offerisse dono al Signore.
6 From the first day of the seventh month they began presenting burnt offerings to Yahweh, though thefoundations of the Temple of Yahweh had not yet been laid.	6 Dal primo dì del settimo mese principiarono ad offerire olocausti al Signore: ma non erano ancor gettate le fondamenta del tempio di Dio.
7 They also contributed money for the masons and carpenters, and food, drink and oil for the Sidoniansand Tyrians for bringing cedar wood from Lebanon by sea to Jaffa, for which Cyrus king of Persia had givenpermission.	7 E diedero del denaro ai lavoratori di pietra, e ai muratori: e da mangiare, e da bere, e dell'olio a quelli di Tiro, e di Sidone, affinchè portassero il legname di cedro dal Libano al mare di Joppe, secondo l'ordine dato loro da e Ciro re della Persia.
8 It was in the second month of the second year after their arrival at the Temple of God in Jerusalem thatZerubbabel son of Shealtiel and Jeshua son of Jozadak, with the rest of their brothers, the priests, the Levitesand all the people who had returned to Jerusalem from captivity, began the work by appointing some of theLevites who were twenty years old or more to superintend the work on the Temple of Yahweh.	8 L'anno secondo del loro arrivo al tempio di Dio in Gerusalemme, il secondo mese, Zorobabel figliuolo di Salathiel, e Josuè figliuolo di Josedech, e in gli altri loro fratelli sacerdoti, e Leviti, e tutti quelli, i quali dalla schiavitù eran tornati a Gerusalemme, risolverono di destinare i Leviti dai venti anni in su a sollecitare l'opera del Signore.
9 The Levites, Jeshua, his sons and his brothers, with Kadmiel, Binnui and his sons, the sons ofHodaviah, agreed to superintend the men working on the Temple of God.	9 E Josuè, e i suoi figliuoli, e fratelli, Cedmihel, e i suoi figliuoli, e (tutti) i figliuoli di Giuda, come un sol uomo si stavano a stimolar quelli, che lavoravano al tempio di Dio: e (parimente) i figliuoli di Henadad, e i loro figliuoli, e fratelli Leviti.
10 When the builders had laid the foundations of the Temple of Yahweh, the priests in their robes stoodforward with trumpets, and the Levites, the sons of Asaph, with cymbals, to praise Yahweh according to theordinances of David king of Israel.	10 Quando adunque i muratori ebber gettate le fondamenta del tempio del Signore, vennero i sacerdoti colle loro divise, e colle loro trombe: e i Leviti figliuoli di Asaph co' loro cimbali per cantar le lodi di Dio co' Salmi di David re d'Israele.
11 They chanted praise and thanksgiving to Yahweh because for Israel, they said, 'he is good, andeverlasting in his faithful love.' Then al the people raised a mighty shout of praise to Yahweh, since thefoundations of the Temple of Yahweh had now been laid.	11 E lodavano il Signore co' loro cantici, e confessavano com'egli è buono, e come eterna ell'è la sua misericordia verso Israele. E parimente tutto il popolo alzava voci sonore nel dar laude al Signore: perchè si erano gettate le fondamenta del tempio del Signore.
12 Many of the older priests, Levites and heads of families, who had seen the first temple, wept veryloudly when the foundations of this one were laid before their eyes, but many others shouted aloud for joy,	12 E moltissimi de' sacerdoti, e de' Leviti, e de' capi del popolo, e de' seniori, i quali avean veduto il primo tempio, allorché furono sotto gli occhi loro gettati i fondamenti di quest'altro tempio, gettavano grandi gemiti; e molti alzavano le loro voci gridando per allegrezza.
13 so that nobody could distinguish the noise of the joyful shout from the noise of the people's weeping;for the people shouted so loudly that the noise could be heard far away.	13 E non si potevan discernere i gridi di allegrezza dai clamori di quelli, che si affliggevano: perocché tutto il popolo confusamente gridava ad alta voce, e si udiva il rumore di lontano.
