Ezra 1

NEW JERUSALEM	MODERN HEBREW BIBLE
1 In the first year of Cyrus king of Persia -- to fulfil the word of Yahweh spoken through Jeremiah -Yahwehroused the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia to issue a proclamation and to have it publicly displayed throughout hiskingdom:	1 ובשנת אחת לכורש מלך פרס לכלות דבר יהוה מפי ירמיה העיר יהוה את רוח כרש מלך פרס ויעבר קול בכל מלכותו וגם במכתב לאמר
2 'Cyrus king of Persia says this, "Yahweh, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earthand has appointed me to build him a Temple in Jerusalem, in Judah.	2 כה אמר כרש מלך פרס כל ממלכות הארץ נתן לי יהוה אלהי השמים והוא פקד עלי לבנות לו בית בירושלם אשר ביהודה
3 Whoever among you belongs to the ful tal y of his people, may his God be with him! Let him go up toJerusalem, in Judah, and build the Temple of Yahweh, God of Israel, who is the God in Jerusalem.	3 מי בכם מכל עמו יהי אלהיו עמו ויעל לירושלם אשר ביהודה ויבן את בית יהוה אלהי ישראל הוא האלהים אשר בירושלם
4 And let each survivor, wherever he lives, be helped by the people of his locality with silver, gold,equipment and riding beasts, as wel as voluntary offerings for the Temple of God which is in Jerusalem." '	4 וכל הנשאר מכל המקמות אשר הוא גר שם ינשאוהו אנשי מקמו בכסף ובזהב וברכוש ובבהמה עם הנדבה לבית האלהים אשר בירושלם
5 Then the heads of families of Judah and of Benjamin, the priests and the Levites, in fact al whose spirithad been roused by God, prepared to go and rebuild the Temple of Yahweh in Jerusalem;	5 ויקומו ראשי האבות ליהודה ובנימן והכהנים והלוים לכל העיר האלהים את רוחו לעלות לבנות את בית יהוה אשר בירושלם
6 and al their neighbours gave them every kind of help: silver, gold, equipment, riding beasts andvaluable presents, in addition to their voluntary offerings.	6 וכל סביבתיהם חזקו בידיהם בכלי כסף בזהב ברכוש ובבהמה ובמגדנות לבד על כל התנדב
7 Furthermore, King Cyrus handed over the articles belonging to the Temple of Yahweh whichNebuchadnezzar had carried away from Jerusalem and put in the temple of his god.	7 והמלך כורש הוציא את כלי בית יהוה אשר הוציא נבוכדנצר מירושלם ויתנם בבית אלהיו
8 Cyrus king of Persia handed them over to Mithredath the treasurer who checked them out toSheshbazzar the prince of Judah.	8 ויוציאם כורש מלך פרס על יד מתרדת הגזבר ויספרם לששבצר הנשיא ליהודה
9 The inventory was as fol ows: thirty gold dishes; one thousand silver dishes, twenty-nine repaired;	9 ואלה מספרם אגרטלי זהב שלשים אגרטלי כסף אלף מחלפים תשעה ועשרים
10 thirty gold bowls; a thousand silver bowls, four hundred and ten damaged; one thousand other articles.	10 כפורי זהב שלשים כפורי כסף משנים ארבע מאות ועשרה כלים אחרים אלף
11 In al , five thousand four hundred articles of gold and silver. Sheshbazzar took al these with him whenhe led the exiles back from Babylon to Jerusalem.	11 כל כלים לזהב ולכסף חמשת אלפים וארבע מאות הכל העלה ששבצר עם העלות הגולה מבבל לירושלם
