NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLES DES PEUPLES
1 Thus all the work done by Solomon for the Temple of Yahweh was completed, and Solomon brought inthe gifts which his father David had consecrated; and he had the silver, the gold and all the utensils put into thetreasuries of the Temple of God.	1 On termina ainsi tout le travail commandé par Salomon pour la Maison de Yahvé. Salomon apporta les offrandes consacrées par David son père: l’argent, l’or et les vases, et les plaça dans les réserves de la Maison.
2 Solomon then assembled the elders of Israel to Jerusalem, al the tribal chiefs, the princes of thefamilies of Israel, to bring the ark of the covenant of Yahweh up from the City of David, that is, Zion.	2 Salomon rassembla alors à Jérusalem les anciens d’Israël, les chefs de tribus et les chefs des familles d’Israël, pour faire monter de la Cité de David (c’est Sion), l’Arche de l’Alliance de Yahvé.
3 Al the men of Israel assembled round the king at the time of the feast, that is, in the seventh month.	3 Tous les hommes d’Israël s’assemblèrent autour du roi durant la fête du septième mois.
4 When all the elders of Israel had arrived, the Levites took up the ark;	4 Tous les anciens d’Israël étant arrivés, les lévites transportèrent l’Arche:
5 they brought up the ark and the Tent of Meeting and al the sacred utensils which were in the Tent; thelevitical priests brought them up.	5 on fit donc monter l’Arche, mais aussi la Tente du Rendez-Vous, et tous les objets sacrés qui se trouvaient dans la Tente: les prêtres et les lévites les transportaient.
6 King Solomon and the whole assembly of Israel present with him before the ark sacrificed countless,innumerable sheep and oxen.	6 Le roi Salomon et toute la communauté d’Israël rassemblée autour de lui face à l’Arche, offraient en sacrifice des moutons et des bœufs en quantité incalculable.
7 The priests brought the ark of the covenant of Yahweh to its place, in the Debir of the Temple, that is, inthe Holy of Holies, under the wings of the winged creatures;	7 Les prêtres portèrent l’Arche d’Alliance de Yahvé à sa place, dans le Sanctuaire de la Maison, qu’on appelle le Saint des Saints: ils la placèrent sous les ailes des Chérubins.
8 for they spread their wings over the place where the ark stood, forming a canopy over the ark and itsshafts.	8 Les Chérubins déployaient leurs ailes au-dessus de l’Arche: ils recouvraient ainsi l’Arche et ses barres.
9 The shafts were so long, however, that the ends of the shafts of the ark could be seen in front of theHoly Place in front of the Debir, though they could not be seen from outside. They are still there today.	9 Les barres de l’Arche étaient assez longues pour qu’on en voie le bout depuis la première salle du Temple, mais on ne pouvait pas les voir de l’extérieur; elles sont restées là jusqu’à ce jour.
10 There was nothing in the ark except the two tablets which Moses had placed in it at Horeb, whenYahweh made a covenant with the Israelites when they came out of Egypt.	10 Il n’y avait rien d’autre dans l’Arche que les deux tables que Moïse y avait placées à l’Horeb, lorsque Yahvé avait fait Alliance avec le peuple d’Israël quand il sortait d’Égypte.
11 Now when the priests came out of the Holy Place -- for al the priests present had sanctifiedthemselves regardless of the orders to which they belonged,	11 Finalement les prêtres sortirent du Sanctuaire. Ils s’étaient tous purifiés, quel que soit le groupe auquel ils appartenaient.
12 and al the levitical singers, Asaph, Heman and Jeduthun with their sons and brothers, dressed inlinen, were standing to the east of the altar with cymbals, lyres and harps and with them one hundred and twentypriests blowing the trumpets,	12 Tous les lévites musiciens, Asaf, Héman et Yédoutoun, étaient rassemblés avec leurs fils et leurs frères sur le côté “est” de l’autel, revêtus de lin fin, jouant des cymbales, de la harpe, et de la lyre; 120 prêtres les accompagnaient à la trompette.
13 and the harmony between trumpeters and singers was such that only one melody could be heard asthey praised and gave thanks to Yahweh -- and the singing began, to the accompaniment of trumpets, cymbalsand musical instruments, and they praised Yahweh 'for he is good, for his faithful love is everlasting' -- then theTemple was fil ed with the cloud of the glory of Yahweh,	13 Tous ceux qui jouaient de la trompette ou qui chantaient, s’unissaient pour rendre gloire et louange à Yahvé. Ils chantaient au son de la trompette, des cymbales et des instruments de musique, ils rendaient gloire à Yahvé: “Car il est bon, son amour est éternel!” La nuée de la Gloire de Yahvé envahit alors la Maison.
14 and because of the cloud the priests could not stay and perform their duties. For the glory of Yahwehfilled the Temple of God.	14 À cause de la nuée, les prêtres durent arrêter leur service, car la Gloire de Yahvé avait rempli la Maison de Dieu.
