NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLES DES PEUPLES
1 When al this was complete, al Israel present went out to the towns of Judah, broke the pil ars, cutdown the sacred poles, wrecked the high places and the altars, and did away with them entirely throughoutJudah, Benjamin, Ephraim, and Manasseh. Then al the Israelites returned to their towns, everyone to hisproperty.	1 Cette Pâque terminée, tous les Israélites qui se trouvaient là repartirent vers les villes de Juda. Ils brisèrent les pierres dressées dans tout Juda et Benjamin, mais aussi dans Éphraïm et Manassé, ils coupèrent les pieux sacrés, démolirent les Hauts-Lieux et les autels jusqu’à ce que tout fut détruit. Les Israélites retournèrent ensuite dans leurs villes, chacun chez soi.
2 Hezekiah re-established the priestly and levitical orders, each man in his proper order according to hisduties, whether priest or Levite, to bring burnt offerings and communion sacrifices, to serve and to give thanksand praise within the gates of Yahweh's camp.	2 Ézékias rétablit les classes de prêtres et de lévites qui alternaient dans les différents services, qu’il s’agisse des prêtres ou des lévites, pour l’holocauste, pour les sacrifices de communion, pour l’action de grâces et la louange, et pour le service des portes du Lieu Saint de Yahvé.
3 He also established a king's portion from his possessions for the morning and evening burnt offerings,and the burnt offerings for the Sabbaths, New Moons and festivals, as laid down in the Law of Yahweh.	3 Le roi préleva sur sa fortune personnelle pour offrir les holocaustes: holocauste du matin et du soir, holocauste du sabbat, des nouvelles lunes et des fêtes selon ce qui est écrit dans la Loi de Yahvé.
4 He furthermore requested the people living in Jerusalem to present the portion for the priests andLevites so that they might devote themselves to the Law of Yahweh.	4 Il ordonna au peuple et aux habitants de Jérusalem de verser la part qui revient aux prêtres et aux lévites, pour qu’ils puissent se consacrer à la Loi de Yahvé.
5 As soon as the order had been promulgated, the Israelites provided the first fruits of grain, new wine,olive oil, honey and every other kind of agricultural produce in abundance; they brought in an abundant tithe ofeverything.	5 Aussitôt cet ordre connu, les Israélites offrirent généreusement les prémices du blé, du vin nouveau, de l’huile fraîche, du miel et de tous les produits des champs: ils apportèrent des dîmes abondantes.
6 The Israelites and Judaeans living in the towns of Judah also brought in the tithe of cattle and sheep,and the tithe of sacred gifts consecrated to Yahweh their God, laying them in heaps.	6 Les gens d’Israël et de Juda qui habitaient les villes de Juda apportèrent eux aussi la dîme du gros et du petit bétail. On entreposa, tas après tas, la dîme des offrandes saintes consacrées à Yahvé.
7 They began accumulating the heaps in the third month and had finished them by the seventh.	7 On commença à les entasser le troisième mois et on ne termina qu’au septième mois.
8 When Hezekiah and the officials came to inspect the heaps they praised Yahweh and his peopleIsrael.	8 Lorsque Ézékias arriva avec les chefs pour voir tous ces dépôts, ils bénirent Yahvé et son peuple Israël.
9 While Hezekiah was questioning the priests and Levites about the heaps,	9 Ézékias se renseigna auprès des prêtres et des lévites à propos de ces dépôts.
10 Azariah, the chief priest, of the family of Zadok, replied as fol ows, 'Since they began bringing thecontributions to the Temple of Yahweh,' he said, 'we have had enough to eat and quantities left over, for Yahwehhas blessed his people; this mass of stuff is left.'	10 Azarias, le prêtre en chef, de la maison de Sadoq, lui répondit: “Depuis que l’on a commencé à apporter à la Maison de Yahvé la part réservée aux lévites, nous avons eu à manger en abondance et il en est même resté, car Yahvé a béni son peuple et il reste encore tout ce tas.”
11 Hezekiah then ordered them to have storerooms prepared in the Temple of Yahweh and, when theyhad got them ready,	11 Ézékias demanda d’aménager des salles dans la Maison de Yahvé et on les prépara.
12 they conscientiously brought in the contributions, tithes and consecrated gifts, Conaniah the Levitewas put in charge of them, with Shimei his brother as his assistant,	12 On y apportait en permanence la part prélevée, la dîme et les offrandes saintes. Le lévite Konanyas en fut chargé, avec son frère Chiméï pour l’assister.
13 and with Jehiel, Azaziah, Nahath, Asahel, Jeremith, Jozabad, Eliel, Ismachiah, Mahath, and Benaiahas overseers under Conaniah and his brother Shimei, by order of King Hezekiah and of Azariah, the chief of theTemple of God.	13 Yéhiel, Azazyas, Nahat, Azaël, Yérimot, Yozabad, Éliel, Yismakyas, Mahat et Bénayas, en assuraient la surveillance sous l’autorité de Konanyas et de son frère Chiméï. Le roi Ézékias et Azarias, le chef de la Maison de Yahvé, les contrôlaient.
14 Kore son of Jimnah the Levite, keeper of the eastern gate, was made responsible for the voluntaryofferings to God and for providing the portion set aside for Yahweh and the most holy gifts.	14 Le lévite Koré, fils de Yimna, gardien de la porte de l’Est, avait la charge des offrandes volontaires faites à Dieu. Il répartissait le prélèvement en l’honneur de Yahvé et les offrandes saintes.
15 Supporting him loyal y in the priestly towns were Eden, Miniamin, Jeshua, Shemaiah, Amariah andShechaniah, who made the distributions to their brothers in their various orders, whether high or low,	15 Il avait sous ses ordres Éden, Minyamin, Yéchoua, Chémayas, Amarya, et Chekanyas, qui résidaient habituellement dans les villes sacerdotales. Ils assuraient les distributions à leurs frères, répartis selon leurs classes, aux grands comme aux petits.
16 irrespective of their official genealogy, to the males of thirty years and upwards -- to each one whoattended the Temple of Yahweh to fulfil his daily obligations -- for the performance of their duties appropriate totheir orders:	16 On enregistra aussi les hommes âgés de 30 ans et plus, ceux qui montaient à la Maison de Yahvé selon le rituel de chaque jour pour y assurer leur service, quand c’était le tour de leur classe.
17 the priests being registered according to family and the Levites of twenty years and upwardsaccording to their duties within their orders.	17 On enregistra les prêtres par familles, ainsi que les lévites à partir de l’âge de 20 ans, selon leurs fonctions et leur classe.
18 And the official genealogy included all their household, their wives, their sons and their daughters,throughout the community, since these men were obliged to keep sanctifying themselves anew.	18 On les recensa avec tous ceux qui leur étaient à charge: femmes, fils et filles, en un mot, toute la famille. Ils prenaient soin de toutes les choses saintes.
19 The Aaronite priests who lived on the pasture lands belonging to their towns, had men named inevery town to distribute portions to every male among the priests and to everyone included in the officialgenealogy of the Levites.	19 Un certain nombre de prêtres, fils d’Aaron, se trouvaient dans les campagnes comme dans les villes; on inscrivit nom par nom, ceux qui devaient distribuer les parts réservées à ces prêtres, à tous les mâles, et à tous ceux qui étaient enregistrés comme lévites.
20 Hezekiah did this throughout all Judah. He did what Yahweh his God regards as good and right andloyal.	20 Voilà ce que fit Ézékias dans tout Juda; il fit ce qui était bon, juste et droit devant Yahvé, son Dieu. Il chercha Dieu de tout son cœur et il mena à bien tout ce qu’il entreprit pour le service de la Maison de Dieu, pour la Loi et les commandements.
21 Everything that he undertook, whether in the service of the Temple of God or in connection with thelaw or the commandments, he did in absolute devotion to his God, and so succeeded.
