NEW JERUSALEM	Sacra Bibbia Garofalo
1 Jehoshaphat king of Judah returned home safely, however, to Jerusalem.	1 Joshafat re di Giuda tornò invece incolume alla sua dimora a Gerusalemme.
2 Jehu son of Hanani the seer went to meet him and said to King Jehoshaphat, 'Should a man give helpto the wicked? Should you love those who hate Yahweh and so bring his retribution on yourself?	2 Ma ecco farglisi incontro Jehu figlio di Khanani il veggente; questi parlò al re Joshafat: «Dovevi proprio andare in aiuto a un empio? E tu ami coloro che odiano Jahvè? L’ira di Jahvè grava pertanto su di te!
3 Al the same, there are good things to your credit, since you have removed the sacred poles from thecountry and have set your heart on seeking God.'	3 Si sono però riscontrate in te buone azioni; tu hai infatti eliminato dal paese i pali sacri e hai diretto fermamente il cuore alla ricerca di Dio».
4 Jehoshaphat resided in Jerusalem but regularly went on progress among the people, from Beershebato the highlands of Ephraim, to convert them to Yahweh, God of their ancestors.	4 Joshafat rimase a Gerusalemme, poi uscì di nuovo in mezzo al popolo, aggirandosi da Bersabea fino alla montagna di Efraim. Così li ricondusse a Jahvè Dio dei loro padri.
5 He also appointed judges in the country in every one of the fortified towns of Judah,	5 Egli costituì dei giudici nel paese e, precisamente, in ogni roccaforte di Giuda,
6 saying to the judges, 'Be careful what you do, since you are judging not by any human power but inthe name of Yahweh, who will be with you when you pronounce sentence.	6 facendo loro questa prescrizione: «Badate bene a ciò che fate! Voi infatti non siete giudici per un uomo, ma per Jahvè. Egli vi è accanto, quando esercitate la giustizia.
7 This being so, let fear of Yahweh govern you; be careful what you do, for Yahweh our God wil nottolerate malpractice, partiality or the taking of bribes.'	7 Ebbene, il timore di Jahvè sia sopra di voi! Badate a quanto fate, perché presso Jahvè nostro Dio non c’è ingiustizia alcuna né vi sono riguardi personali o accettazioni di doni».
8 Jehoshaphat also appointed some of the Levites, priests and heads of Israelite families in Jerusalemto settle disputes. They lived in Jerusalem	8 Joshafat stabilì pure a Gerusalemme alcuni Leviti, sacerdoti è capicasata di Israele per il giudizio di Jahvè e per le contese degli abitanti di Gerusalemme.
9 and Jehoshaphat gave them the fol owing charge: 'In fear of Yahweh and with conscientious integrity,this is how you are to act:	9 Egli impartì loro quest’ordine: «Agirete così: nel timore di Jahvè, secondo verità e integrità di cuore!
10 whatever case your brothers living in other towns refer to you, whether involving blood feuds or lawand commandment, statutes and judgements, you are to instruct them in such manner that they do not incur guiltbefore Yahweh and that you and your brothers do not incur his anger. If you act thus, you will not incur guilt.	10 Quando i vostri fratelli; che abitano nelle: loro città; vi proporranno qualsiasi causa in relazione a un caso o a un'altro di omicidio: oppure nel caso di distinzione tra ciò che è legge o un comandamento, uno statuto o una disposizione, voi li istruirete così che non siano colpevoli innanzi a Jahvè e la sua ira non piombi su voi e sui vostri fratelli. Operando in tale modo, non vi renderete colpevoli.
11 Amariah the chief priest himself wil be your president in al religious cases, and Zebadiah son ofIshmael, leader of the House of Judah, in al civil ones, while the Levites will act as officers of the court. Be firm,put this into practice and may Yahweh protect the right!'	11 Amaria il sacerdote capo sarà pertanto preposto a voi per ogni causa che riguarda Jahvè, mentre Zebadia figlio di Ismaele, principe della casa di Giuda, lo sarà per ogni causa del re. I Leviti sono a vostra disposizione come scribi. Coraggio e all’opera! Jahvè sia con l’uomo per bene!»
