2 Chronicles 19

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Jehoshaphat king of Judah returned home safely, however, to Jerusalem.	1 Cuando Josafat, rey de Judá, regresaba sano y salvo a Jerusalén,
2 Jehu son of Hanani the seer went to meet him and said to King Jehoshaphat, 'Should a man give helpto the wicked? Should you love those who hate Yahweh and so bring his retribution on yourself?	2 le salió al encuentro Jehú, hijo de Jananí, el vidente, y el dijo: «¡Tenías que ayudar al impío y favorecer a los que odian al Señor? Por eso has traído sobre ti la cólera del Señor.
3 Al the same, there are good things to your credit, since you have removed the sacred poles from thecountry and have set your heart on seeking God.'	3 Sin embargo, tienes algunas cosas buenas, porque has quemado los postes sagrados que han desaparecido del país, y te has esforzado por buscar a Dios de todo corazón».
4 Jehoshaphat resided in Jerusalem but regularly went on progress among the people, from Beershebato the highlands of Ephraim, to convert them to Yahweh, God of their ancestors.	4 Josafat residía en Jerusalén, pero salió de nuevo para visitar a su pueblo, desde Berseba hasta la montaña de Efraím, y lo hizo volver al Señor, el Dios de sus padres.
5 He also appointed judges in the country in every one of the fortified towns of Judah,	5 Estableció jueces en el país, en todas y cada una de las ciudades fortificadas de Judá,
6 saying to the judges, 'Be careful what you do, since you are judging not by any human power but inthe name of Yahweh, who will be with you when you pronounce sentence.	6 y dijo a los jueces: «Miren bien lo que hacen, porque ustedes no deben juzgar en nombre de los hombres, sino del Señor, que está con ustedes cuando administran la justicia.
7 This being so, let fear of Yahweh govern you; be careful what you do, for Yahweh our God wil nottolerate malpractice, partiality or the taking of bribes.'	7 ¡Que permanezca sobre ustedes el temor del Señor! Tengan mucho cuidado con lo que hacen, porque el Señor, nuestro Dios, no tolera la injusticia, ni la acepción de personas, ni el soborno».
8 Jehoshaphat also appointed some of the Levites, priests and heads of Israelite families in Jerusalemto settle disputes. They lived in Jerusalem	8 También en Jerusalén, Josafat estableció levitas, sacerdotes y jefes de familia de Israel, para dictar las sentencias del Señor y dirimir los pleitos entre los habitantes de Jerusalén.
9 and Jehoshaphat gave them the fol owing charge: 'In fear of Yahweh and with conscientious integrity,this is how you are to act:	9 Les dio estas instrucciones: «Obren siempre con temor del Señor, con fidelidad e integridad de corazón.
10 whatever case your brothers living in other towns refer to you, whether involving blood feuds or lawand commandment, statutes and judgements, you are to instruct them in such manner that they do not incur guiltbefore Yahweh and that you and your brothers do not incur his anger. If you act thus, you will not incur guilt.	10 En todo pleito que provenga de sus hermanos residentes en cualquier ciudad –ya sean causas de sangre o cuestiones relativas a la Ley, a los mandamientos, a los preceptos y a las costumbres– ustedes deberán instruirlos, para que no se hagan culpables delante del Señor y su ira no se encienda contra ustedes y contra sus hermanos. Obren de esta manera, y no se harán culpables.
11 Amariah the chief priest himself wil be your president in al religious cases, and Zebadiah son ofIshmael, leader of the House of Judah, in al civil ones, while the Levites will act as officers of the court. Be firm,put this into practice and may Yahweh protect the right!'	11 El sacerdote Amarías tendrá autoridad sobre ustedes en todos los asuntos concernientes al Señor, y Zebadías, hijo de Ismael, príncipe de la casa de Judá, en todos los asuntos concernientes al rey. Los levitas les servirán de escriban. ¡Tengan ánimo y pónganse a trabajar! ¡Y que el Señor está con los hombres de bien!».
