NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA RICCIOTTI
1 Jehoshaphat king of Judah returned home safely, however, to Jerusalem.	1 - Josafat, re di Giuda, tornò sano e salvo a casa sua in Gerusalemme; e il veggente Jeu, figlio di Anani,
2 Jehu son of Hanani the seer went to meet him and said to King Jehoshaphat, 'Should a man give helpto the wicked? Should you love those who hate Yahweh and so bring his retribution on yourself?	2 gli venne incontro e gli disse: «Tu hai prestato aiuto a un empio, e ti stringesti in amicizia con quei che odiano il Signore, perciò ti saresti meritata l'ira del Signore;
3 Al the same, there are good things to your credit, since you have removed the sacred poles from thecountry and have set your heart on seeking God.'	3 ma si sono trovate in te opere buone, perchè tu hai tolto via i boschetti sacri dalla terra di Giuda e hai preparato l'animo tuo a cercare il Signore Dio de' padri tuoi».
4 Jehoshaphat resided in Jerusalem but regularly went on progress among the people, from Beershebato the highlands of Ephraim, to convert them to Yahweh, God of their ancestors.	4 Josafat abitò dunque in Gerusalemme e andò di nuovo a trovare il popolo da Bersabee fino ai monti di Efraim e li fece ritornare al Signore Dio de' padri loro.
5 He also appointed judges in the country in every one of the fortified towns of Judah,	5 Pose giudici del paese in tutte le città fortificate di Giuda
6 saying to the judges, 'Be careful what you do, since you are judging not by any human power but inthe name of Yahweh, who will be with you when you pronounce sentence.	6 e comandando ai giudici, disse: «Guardate a quel che fate, poichè non amministrate la giustizia di un uomo, ma quella del Signore, e qualsiasi cosa voi giudicherete vi sarà imputata.
7 This being so, let fear of Yahweh govern you; be careful what you do, for Yahweh our God wil nottolerate malpractice, partiality or the taking of bribes.'	7 Il timore del Signore sia con voi e fate ogni cosa con diligenza, perchè non vi è iniquità presso il Signore Dio nostro, nè accettazione di persone, nè bramosia di regali».
8 Jehoshaphat also appointed some of the Levites, priests and heads of Israelite families in Jerusalemto settle disputes. They lived in Jerusalem	8 In Gerusalemme costituì ancora dei leviti e dei sacerdoti e dei principi delle famiglie d'Israele per esercitare il giudizio e la causa del Signore per i suoi abitanti.
9 and Jehoshaphat gave them the fol owing charge: 'In fear of Yahweh and with conscientious integrity,this is how you are to act:	9 E comandò loro, dicendo: «Vi diporterete col timore di Dio, con fedeltà e con cuore perfetto.
10 whatever case your brothers living in other towns refer to you, whether involving blood feuds or lawand commandment, statutes and judgements, you are to instruct them in such manner that they do not incur guiltbefore Yahweh and that you and your brothers do not incur his anger. If you act thus, you will not incur guilt.	10 Qualsiasi causa che vi sarà dato a trattare dei vostri fratelli, che abitano nelle loro città, fra parentela e parentela, quando si tratti della Legge, dei comandi, delle cerimonie e delle prescrizioni, avvertiteli che non pecchino contro il Signore, affinchè non venga l'ira sua sopra di voi e sopra i vostri fratelli. Così facendo non peccherete.
11 Amariah the chief priest himself wil be your president in al religious cases, and Zebadiah son ofIshmael, leader of the House of Judah, in al civil ones, while the Levites will act as officers of the court. Be firm,put this into practice and may Yahweh protect the right!'	11 Amaria poi sacerdote pontefice vostro avrà giurisdizione in tutte le cose, che riguardano Dio; mentre Zabadia, figlio d'Ismaele, principe della casa di Giuda, attenderà a tutti gli affari che riguardano il servizio del re; abbiate poi dinanzi a voi come maestri i leviti; fatevi cuore e siate diligenti e il Signore sarà con voi e vi ricolmerà di beni».
