2 Chronicles 11

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 When Rehoboam reached Jerusalem, he mustered a hundred and eighty thousand picked warriors ofthe House of Judah and Benjamin to fight Israel and win back the kingdom for Rehoboam.	1 Roboam llegó a Jerusalén y convocó a la casa de Judá y a Benjamín –ciento ochenta mil guerreros adiestrados– para ir a combatir contra Israel y recuperar el reino.
2 But the word of Yahweh came to Shemaiah, man of God,	2 Pero la palabra del Señor llegó a Semaías, un hombre de Dios, en estos términos:
3 'Say this to Rehoboam son of Solomon, king of Judah, and to al Israel in Judah and Benjamin,	3 «Di a Roboam, hijo de Salomón, rey de Judá, y a toda la gente de Israel que está en Judá y en Benjamín:
4 "Yahweh says this: Do not go and make war on your brothers; let everyone go home, for this is mydoing." ' They obeyed Yahweh's command and went back instead of marching against Jeroboam.	4 Así habla el Señor: No suban a combatir contra sus hermanos; que cada uno vuelva a su casa, porque esto ha sucedido por disposición mía». Ellos escucharon las palabras del Señor y desistieron de su campaña contra Jeroboam.
5 Rehoboam, residing in Jerusalem, fortified a number of towns for the defence of Judah.	5 Roboam habitó en Jerusalén y construyó ciudades fortificadas en Judá.
6 He built Bethlehem, Etam, Tekoa,	6 Reconstruyó Belén, Etam, Técoa,
7 Beth-Zur, Soco, Adul am,	7 Betsur, Socó, Adulam,
8 Gath, Mareshah, Ziph,	8 Gat, Maresá, Zif,
9 Adoraim, Lachish, Azekah,	9 Adoraim, Laquis, Azecá,
10 Zorah, Aijalon, Hebron, these being the fortified towns in Judah and Benjamin.	10 Sorá, Aialón y Hebrón, ciudades fortificadas que están en Judá y en Benjamín.
11 He equipped these fortresses, stationing commanders in them, with supplies of food, oil and wine,	11 El reforzó sus fortificaciones y puso en ellas comandantes y depósitos de víveres, aceite y vino.
12 and shields and spears in each of these towns, making them extremely strong and thus retainingcontrol of Judah and Benjamin.	12 En cada ciudad había escudos y lanzas. El rey las hizo extremadamente fuertes, y así le estuvieron sometidos Judá y Benjamín.
13 The priests and the Levites from all over Israel left their districts to put themselves at his disposal.	13 Los sacerdotes y levitas de todo Israel acudían desde sus territorios para plegarse a Roboam.
14 The Levites, indeed, abandoned their pasture lands and their holdings and came to Judah andJerusalem because Jeroboam and his sons had excluded them from the priesthood of Yahweh.	14 En efecto, los levitas abandonaron sus campos de pastoreo y sus posesiones y se fueron a Judá y a Jerusalén, porque Jeroboam y sus hijos les impedían ejercer el sacerdocio del Señor,
15 Jeroboam had appointed his own priests for the high places dedicated to the satyrs and calves whichhe had made.	15 al instituir por su cuenta sacerdotes para los lugares altos, para los sátiros y para los terneros que él había fabricado.
16 And those members of al the tribes of Israel who were determined to seek Yahweh, God of Israel,fol owed those priests and Levites to Jerusalem to sacrifice to Yahweh, God of their ancestors.	16 Gente de todas las tribus de Israel, que buscaba de todo corazón al Señor, el Dios de Israel, fue detrás de ellos a Jerusalén, para ofrecer sacrificios al Señor, el Dios de sus padres.
17 These added strength to the kingdom of Judah and gave their support to Rehoboam son of Solomonfor three years. For three years they remained loyal to David and Solomon.	17 Así fortalecieron el reino de Judá y durante tres años, consolidaron a Roboam, hijo de Salomón, ya que durante tres años se siguió el camino de David y Salomón.
18 Rehoboam married Mahalath daughter of Jerimoth, son of David, and of Abihail daughter of Eliabson of Jesse,	18 Roboam tomó por esposa a Majalat, hija de Ierimot, hijo de David y de Abijáil, hijo de Eliab, hijo de Jesé.
19 and she bore him sons: Jeush, Shemariah and Zaham.	19 Ella le dio varios hijos: Ieús, Semarías y Zaham.
20 After her, he married Maacah daughter of Absalom, who bore him Abijah, Attai, Ziza and Shelomith.	20 Después tomó a Maacá, hija de Absalón, de la que le nacieron Abías, Atai, Zizá y Selomit.
21 Rehoboam loved Maacah daughter of Absalom, more than all his other wives and concubines. 22 Rehoboam named Abijah son of Maacah as head, hence leader, of his brothers, with a view tomaking him king,	22 Roboam puso al frente de sus hermanos a Abías, hijo de Maacá, constituyéndolo príncipe heredero, porque quería hacerlo rey.
23 and acted wisely by distributing his sons throughout the territories of Judah and Benjamin, some ineach fortified town, where he provided plenty of food for them and found them wives.	23 Además, supo distribuir hábilmente a sus hijos por todas las regiones de Judá y de Benjamín, en todas las ciudades fortificadas, dándoles gran cantidad de víveres y procurándoles muchas mujeres.
