2 Chronicles 11

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 When Rehoboam reached Jerusalem, he mustered a hundred and eighty thousand picked warriors ofthe House of Judah and Benjamin to fight Israel and win back the kingdom for Rehoboam.	1 En llegando a Jerusalén, reunió Roboam a la casa de Judá y Benjamín, 180.000 hombres, guerreros escogidos, para combatir contra Israel y devolver el reino a Roboam.
2 But the word of Yahweh came to Shemaiah, man of God,	2 Pero fue dirigida la palabra de Yahveh a Semaías, hombre de Dios, diciendo:
3 'Say this to Rehoboam son of Solomon, king of Judah, and to al Israel in Judah and Benjamin,	3 «Habla a Roboam, hijo de Salomón, rey de Judá, y a todo Israel que está en Judá y Benjamín, diciendo:
4 "Yahweh says this: Do not go and make war on your brothers; let everyone go home, for this is mydoing." ' They obeyed Yahweh's command and went back instead of marching against Jeroboam.	4 Así habla Yahveh: No subáis a combatir con vuestros hermanos; que cada uno se vuelva a su casa, porque esto es cosa mía». Ellos escucharon la palabra de Yahveh y desistieron de marchar contra Jeroboam.
5 Rehoboam, residing in Jerusalem, fortified a number of towns for the defence of Judah.	5 Roboam habitó en Jerusalén y edificó ciudades fortificadas en Judá.
6 He built Bethlehem, Etam, Tekoa,	6 Fortificó Belén, Etam, Técoa,
7 Beth-Zur, Soco, Adul am,	7 Bet Sur, Sokó, Adullam,
8 Gath, Mareshah, Ziph,	8 Gat, Maresá, Zif,
9 Adoraim, Lachish, Azekah,	9 Adoráyim, Lakís, Azecá,
10 Zorah, Aijalon, Hebron, these being the fortified towns in Judah and Benjamin.	10 Sorá, Ayyalón y Hebrón, ciudades fortificadas de Judá y Benjamín.
11 He equipped these fortresses, stationing commanders in them, with supplies of food, oil and wine,	11 Reforzó las fortificaciones y puso en ellas comandantes y provisiones de víveres, de aceite y vino.
12 and shields and spears in each of these towns, making them extremely strong and thus retainingcontrol of Judah and Benjamin.	12 En todas estas ciudades había escudos y lanzas, y las hizo sumamente fuertes. Estaban por él Judá y Benjamín.
13 The priests and the Levites from all over Israel left their districts to put themselves at his disposal.	13 Los sacerdotes y levitas de todo Israel se pasaron a él desde todos sus territorios;
14 The Levites, indeed, abandoned their pasture lands and their holdings and came to Judah andJerusalem because Jeroboam and his sons had excluded them from the priesthood of Yahweh.	14 pues los levitas abandonaron sus ejidos y sus posesiones y se fueron a Judá y a Jerusalén, porque Jeroboam y sus hijos les habían prohibido el ejercicio del sacerdocio de Yahveh,
15 Jeroboam had appointed his own priests for the high places dedicated to the satyrs and calves whichhe had made.	15 y Jeroboam instituyó sus propios sacerdotes para los altos, los sátiros y los becerros que había hecho.
16 And those members of al the tribes of Israel who were determined to seek Yahweh, God of Israel,fol owed those priests and Levites to Jerusalem to sacrifice to Yahweh, God of their ancestors.	16 Tras ellos vinieron a Jerusalén, para ofrecer sacrificios a Yahveh, el Dios de sus padres, aquellos de entre todas las tribus de Israel que tenían puesto su corazón en buscar a Yahveh, el Dios de Israel;
17 These added strength to the kingdom of Judah and gave their support to Rehoboam son of Solomonfor three years. For three years they remained loyal to David and Solomon.	17 y fortalecieron el reino de Judá y consolidaron a Roboam, hijo de Salomón, por tres años. Pues tres años siguió el camino de David y de Salomón.
18 Rehoboam married Mahalath daughter of Jerimoth, son of David, and of Abihail daughter of Eliabson of Jesse,	18 Roboam tomó por mujer a Majalat, hija de Yerimot, hijo de David y de Abiháyil, hija de Eliab, hijo de Jesé.
19 and she bore him sons: Jeush, Shemariah and Zaham.	19 Esta le dio los hijos Yeús, Semarías y Zaham.
20 After her, he married Maacah daughter of Absalom, who bore him Abijah, Attai, Ziza and Shelomith.	20 Después de ésta tomó a Maaká, hija de Absalón, la cual le dio a Abías, Attay, Zizá y Selomit.
21 Rehoboam loved Maacah daughter of Absalom, more than all his other wives and concubines. Hehad in fact a total of eighteen wives and sixty concubines and fathered twenty-eight sons and sixty daughters.	21 Roboam amaba a Maaká, hija de Absalón, más que a todas sus mujeres y concubinas, pues tuvo dieciocho mujeres y sesenta concubinas; y engendró veintiocho hijos y sesenta hijas.
22 Rehoboam named Abijah son of Maacah as head, hence leader, of his brothers, with a view tomaking him king,	22 Roboam puso a la cabeza a Abías, hijo de Maaká, como príncipe de sus hermanos, porque quería hacerle rey.
23 and acted wisely by distributing his sons throughout the territories of Judah and Benjamin, some ineach fortified town, where he provided plenty of food for them and found them wives.	23 Repartió hábilmente a todos sus hijos por toda la tierra de Judá y de Benjamín, en todas las ciudades fortificadas, les dio alimentos en abundancia y les buscó mujeres.
