NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 When David had become old and ful of days, he made his son Solomon king of Israel,	1 Devenu vieux et rassasié de jours, David donna à son fils Salomon la royauté sur Israël.
2 and then summoned al the leaders of Israel, with the priests and Levites.	2 Il réunit tous les officiers d'Israël, les prêtres et les lévites.
3 A census was taken of those Levites thirty years old and upwards. On a count of heads, theynumbered thirty-eight thousand men;	3 On recensa les lévites de 30 ans et plus. En les comptant tête par tête, on trouva 38.000hommes;
4 twenty-four thousand were responsible for the service of the House of Yahweh, six thousand wereofficials and judges,	4 24.000 d'entre eux présidaient aux offices de la maison de Yahvé, 6.000 étaient scribes etjuges,
5 four thousand were gatekeepers and four thousand praised Yahweh on the instruments which Davidhad made for praising him.	5 4.000 portiers, et 4.000 louaient Yahvé, avec les instruments que David avait faits à cetteintention.
6 David then divided the Levites into classes: Gershon, Kohath and Merari.	6 Puis David répartit les lévites en classes: Gershôn, Qehat et Merari.

11 Jahath was the eldest, Zizah the second, then Jeush and Beriah, who had not many children andwere reckoned as one family.	11 Yahat était l'aîné, Ziza le second, puis Yéush et Béria qui n'eurent pas beaucoup d'enfants etfurent enregistrés en une seule famille.
12 Sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, Uzziel; four in al .	12 Fils de Qehat: Amram, Yiçhar, Hébrôn, Uzziel, quatre en tout.
13 Sons of Amram: Aaron and Moses. Aaron was set apart to consecrate the things that were especial yholy, he and his sons for ever, to burn incense in the presence of Yahweh, to serve him and to bless in his namefor ever.	13 Fils de Amram: Aaron et Moïse. Aaron fut mis à part pour consacrer les choses très saintes,lui et ses fils à jamais, faire fumer l'encens devant Yahvé, le servir et bénir en son nom à jamais.
14 Moses, man of God, and his sons were reckoned with the tribe of Levi.	14 Moïse fut un homme de Dieu dont les fils reçurent le nom de la tribu de Lévi.
15 Sons of Moses: Gershom and Eliezer.	15 Fils de Moïse: Gershom et Eliézer.
16 Sons of Gershom: Shebuel, the first.	16 Fils de Gershom: Shebuel, le premier.
17 Of the sons of Eliezer, Rehabiah was the first. Eliezer had no other sons, but the sons of Rehabiahwere very numerous.	17 Il y eut des fils d'Eliézer: Rehabya, le premier. Eliézer n'eut pas d'autres fils, mais les fils deRehabya furent extrêmement nombreux.
18 Sons of Izhar: Shelomith, the first.	18 Fils de Yiçhar: Shelomit le premier.
19 Sons of Hebron: Jeriah first, Amariah second, Jahaziel third, Jekameam fourth.	19 Fils de Hébrôn: Yeriyyahu le premier, Amarya le second, Yahaziel le troisième, Yeqaméamle quatrième.
20 Sons of Uzziel: Micah first, Isshiah second.	20 Fils d'Uzziel: Mika le premier, Yishshiyya le second.

22 Eleazar died without sons, but he did have daughters, whom their cousins, the sons of Kish, married.	22 Eléazar mourut sans avoir de fils, mais des filles qu'enlevèrent les fils de Qish leurs frères.

24 These were the sons of Levi by their families, the heads of families, and those registered by name,individual y; whoever was twenty years old or upwards had his function in the service of the Temple of Yahweh.	24 Tels étaient les fils de Lévi par familles, les chefs de maison et ceux qu'on recensaitnominativement, tête par tête; quiconque était âgé de vingt ans et plus était affecté au service de la maison deYahvé.
25 For David said, 'Since Yahweh, God of Israel, has given rest to his people Israel and has taken upresidence in Jerusalem for ever,	25 Car David avait dit: "Yahvé, Dieu d'Israël, a donné le repos à son peuple et il demeure pourtoujours à Jérusalem.
26 the Levites need no longer carry the Dwel ing or any of the objects required for its service.'	26 Les lévites n'auront plus à transporter la Demeure et les objets destinés à son service."
27 For, according to the last words of David, the Levites who had been registered were of twenty yearsand upwards.	27 En effet, selon les dernières paroles de David, les lévites qui furent comptés étaient âgés devingt ans et plus.
28 Their duty now is to help the sons of Aaron in the service of the House of Yahweh, in the care of thecourts and rooms, the purification of al the holy things, the work for the service of the House of God,	28 Ils sont chargés de se tenir sous les ordres des fils d'Aaron pour le service du Temple deYahvé dans les parvis et les salles, pour la purification de chaque chose consacrée; ils font le service du Templede Dieu.
29 the loaves of permanent offering, the flour for the oblation, the wafers of unleavened bread, the pan-baked materials, the unmixed materials and all measures of volume and length.	29 Ils sont aussi chargés du pain à disposer en rangées, de la fleur de farine destinée àl'oblation, des galettes sans levain, de celles qui étaient préparées à la plaque ou sous forme de mélange, et detoutes les mesures de capacité et de longueur.
30 Furthermore, they have to be present every morning to give thanks and praise to Yahweh, and alsoin the evening,	30 Ils ont à s'y tenir chaque matin pour célébrer et pour louer Yahvé, et de même le soir,
31 and at the bringing of every burnt offering to Yahweh on Sabbath, New Moon or solemn feast,appearing regularly before Yahweh in accordance with the numbers required of them.	31 ainsi que pour toute offrande d'holocaustes à Yahvé lors des sabbats, des néoménies et dessolennités, selon le nombre fixé par la règle. Cette charge leur incombe en permanence devant Yahvé.
32 In serving the Temple of Yahweh they observe the ritual of the Tent of Meeting, the ritual of thesanctuary and the ritual of their kinsmen, the sons of Aaron.'	32 Ils observent, au service du Temple de Yahvé, le rituel de la Tente du Rendez-vous, le ritueldu sanctuaire et le rituel des fils d'Aaron, leurs frères.
