1 These are the men who rallied to David at Ziklag while he was stil being kept away from Saul son ofKish; they were among the champions, the warriors.	1 Voici ceux qui rejoignirent David à Ciqlag alors qu'il était encore retenu loin de Saül fils deQish; c'étaient des preux, des combattants à la guerre,
2 They were equipped with bows and could sling stones or shoot arrows from the bow with either righthand or left. Of Saul's fellow-tribesmen from Benjamin:	2 qui pouvaient tirer à l'arc de la main droite et de la gauche, en utilisant pierres et flèches. Desfrères de Saül le Benjaminite:
3 Ahiezer the leader, and Joash, sons of Hassemar of Gibeah, Jeziel and Peleth, sons of Azmaveth,Berachah and Jehu of Anathoth,	3 Ahiézer le chef, et Yoash, fils de Hashshemaa de Gibéa, Yeziel et Pélèt, fils d'Azmavèt,Beraka et Yéhu d'Anatot,

9 From the Gadites, some good, capable fighting men defected and came to David at the stronghold inthe desert -- al skil ed with shield and spear, fierce as lions and nimble as mountain gazel es.	9 Des Gadites firent sécession pour rejoindre David dans son refuge du désert. C'étaient despreux vaillants, des hommes de guerre prêts à combattre, sachant manier le bouclier et la lance. Ils faisaientfigure de lions; par l'agilité, ils ressemblaient aux gazelles sur les montagnes.
10 Ezer was the leader, Obadiah second, Eliab third,	10 Ezer était le chef, Obadya le second, Eliab le troisième,
11 Mishmannah fourth, Jeremiah fifth,	11 Mashmanna le quatrième, Yirmeya le cinquième,
12 Attai sixth, Eliel seventh,	12 Attaï le sixième, Eliel le septième,
13 Johanan eighth, Elzabad ninth,	13 Yohanân le huitième, Elzabad le neuvième,
14 Jeremiah tenth, Machbannai eleventh.	14 Yirmeyahu le dixième, Makbannaï le onzième.
15 These Gadites were the leaders of the troops, the least of them a match for a hundred men and thegreatest a match for a thousand.	15 Tels étaient les fils de Gad, chefs de corps; un commandait à cent s'il était petit, à mille s'ilétait grand.
16 These were the men who once crossed the Jordan in the first month, when it had overflowed itsbanks and had driven out al the lowlanders to east and west.	16 Ce sont eux qui passèrent le Jourdain, au premier mois, tandis qu'il coule partout à pleinsbords, et qui mirent en fuite les riverains tant à l'orient qu'à l'occident.
17 Some of the Benjaminites and Judahites also joined David at the stronghold.	17 Quelques Benjaminites et Judéens s'en vinrent aussi trouver David en son refuge.
18 When David came forward to meet them, he responded to them by saying, 'If you have come to mewith peaceful intent to help me, you will find me a good friend. But if it is to betray me to my enemies, seeing thatI have done nothing wrong, may the God of our ancestors take note and condemn you.'	18 David s'avança au-devant d'eux, prit la parole et leur dit: "Si c'est en amis que vous venez àmoi pour me prêter main-forte, je suis disposé à m'unir à vous, mais si c'est pour me tromper au profit de mesennemis alors que mes mains n'ont fait aucun tort, que le Dieu de nos pères le voie et fasse justice!"
19 Then the Spirit invested Amasai the leader of the Thirty: 'We are your men, David; with you, son ofJesse! Peace be with you, peace be with you; peace be with those who help you! For your God has helped you!'And David accepted them, including them among his more senior officers.	19 L'Esprit revêtit alors Amasaï, chef des Trente: "Va, David! La paix soit avec toi, fils deJessé, paix à toi, paix à qui t'aide, car ton aide, c'est ton Dieu." David les accueillit et les mit parmi les chefs detroupe.
20 Some Manassehites also defected to David as he was setting out with the Philistines to fight Saul.But he did not help the Philistines because, after consultation, their chiefs sent him away, saying, 'He wil defectto his master Saul and it wil cost us our heads!'	20 Quelques Manassites se rendirent à David alors qu'il venait lutter avec les Philistins contreSaül. Mais ils ne leur prêtèrent pas main-forte car, s'étant consultés, les princes des Philistins renvoyèrent Daviden disant: "Il irait se rendre à son seigneur Saül au prix de nos têtes!"
21 He was on his way to Ziklag when these Manassehites deserted to him: Adnah, Jozabad, Jediael,Michael, Jozabad, Elihu, Zil ethai, chiefs of thousands in Manasseh.	21 Il partait donc pour Ciqlag quand quelques Manassites se rendirent à lui: Adnah, Yozabad,Yediaël, Mikaël, Yozabad, Elihu, Cilletaï, chefs des milliers de Manassé.
22 They helped David and his band, since they were al men of standing and became officers in thearmy.	22 Ce fut un renfort pour David et sa troupe, car ils étaient tous de vaillants preux et devinrentofficiers dans l'armée.
23 Indeed reinforcements reached David day after day, so that his camp grew into a camp of prodigioussize.	23 Jour après jour, en effet, David recevait des renforts, si bien que son camp devint un campgigantesque.
24 These are the numbers of ful y armed men who joined David at Hebron to transfer Saul's kingdom tohim in accordance with the order of Yahweh:	24 Voici le nombre des guerriers équipés pour la guerre qui rejoignirent David à Hébron pourlui transférer la royauté de Saül selon l'ordre de Yahvé:
25 Judahites carrying shield and spear: six thousand eight hundred ful y armed warriors;	25 Fils de Juda portant le bouclier et la lance: 6.800 guerriers équipés pour la guerre;
26 Simeonites; seven thousand one hundred champions valiant in war;	26 des fils de Siméon, 7.100 preux vaillants à la guerre;
27 Levites: four thousand six hundred,	27 des fils de Lévi, 4.600,
28 in addition to Jehoiada, in command of the Aaronites, with three thousand seven hundred of these,	28 ainsi que Yehoyada, commandant les Aaronides avec 3.700 de ces derniers,
29 Zadok, a young and valiant champion, and twenty-two commanders of his family;	29 Sadoq, jeune preux vaillant, et 22 officiers de sa famille;

31 Ephraimites: twenty thousand eight hundred valiant champions, men famous in their families;	31 des fils d'Ephraïm, 20.800 preux vaillants, hommes illustres de leur famille;
32 of the half-tribe of Manasseh: eighteen thousand men assigned by name to go and proclaim Davidking;	32 de la demi-tribu de Manassé, 18.000 hommes nominativement désignés pour allerproclamer David roi;
33 Issacharites, sound judges of the times when Israel should take action, and the way to do it: twohundred chiefs and al their kinsmen under their command;	33 des fils d'Issachar, sachant discerner les moments où Israël devait agir et la manière de lefaire, 200 chefs et tous leurs frères à leurs ordres;
34 Zebulunites: fifty thousand men fit for service, marshalled for battle, with warlike weapons of everykind, staunch-hearted auxiliaries;	34 de Zabulon, 50.000 hommes aptes au service militaire, en ordre de combat, avec toutessortes d'armes, et prêts à prêter main-forte d'un coeur résolu;
35 Naphtalites: a thousand commanders, and with them thirty-seven thousand men armed with shieldand spear;	35 de Nephtali, mille officiers et avec eux 37.000 hommes munis du bouclier et de la lance;
36 Danites: twenty-eight thousand six hundred men marshal ed for battle;	36 des Danites, 28.600 hommes en ordre de combat;
37 Asherites: forty thousand men fit for service, marshalled for battle;	37 d'Asher, 40.000 hommes partant en guerre en ordre de combat;
38 from Transjordan: a hundred and twenty thousand men of Reuben, Gad and the half-tribe ofManasseh, with warlike weapons of every kind.	38 de Transjordanie, 120.000 hommes de Ruben, de Gad, de la demi-tribu de Manassé, avectoutes sortes d'armes de guerre.
39 Al these warriors in battle array came to David at Hebron with the firm determination of makingDavid king of al Israel; and the rest of Israel, too, was of one mind in wanting to make David king.	39 Tous ces hommes de guerre, venus en renfort en bon ordre, se rendirent à Hébron de pleincoeur pour proclamer David roi sur tout Israël; tous les autres Israélites étaient d'ailleurs unanimes pour conférerla royauté à David.
40 For three days they stayed there with David, eating and drinking, their fellow-tribesmen having madepreparations for them;	40 Trois jours durant, ils demeurèrent là à manger et à boire avec David. Leurs frères avaienttout apprêté pour eux;
41 their neighbours too, from as far away as Issachar and Zebulun and Naphtali, came bringing food ondonkeys, camels, mules and oxen-supplies of flour, fig cakes, bunches of raisins, wine, oil, quantities of oxenand sheep -- for there was joy in Israel.	41 de plus, des environs et jusque d'Issachar, Zabulon et Nephtali, on leur faisait parvenir desvivres, par ânes, chameaux, mulets et boeufs: farine, figues et gâteaux de raisin, vin et huile, gros et petit bétailen masse, car c'était liesse en Israël.
