1 Kings 6

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 In the four hundred and eightieth year after the Israelites came out of Egypt, in the fourth year ofSolomon's reign over Israel, in the month of Ziv, which is the second month, he began building the Temple ofYahweh.	1 En la 480ième année après la sortie des Israélites du pays d'Egypte, en la quatrième année du règnede Salomon sur Israël, au mois de Ziv qui est le second mois, il bâtit le Temple de Yahvé.
2 The temple which King Solomon built for Yahweh was sixty cubits long, twenty cubits wide and twenty-five high.	2 Le Temple que le roi Salomon bâtit pour Yahvé avait 60 coudées de long, vingt de large et 25 dehaut.
3 The portico in front of the Hekal of the Temple was twenty cubits long across the width of the Templeand ten cubits wide along the length of the Temple.	3 Le Ulam devant le Hékal du Temple avait vingt coudées de long dans le sens de la largeur du Templeet dix coudées de large dans le sens de la longueur du Temple.
4 He made windows for the Temple with frames and latticework.	4 Il fit au Temple des fenêtres à cadres et à grilles.
5 He also built an annex against the Temple wal , right round the Hekal and Debir. He built lateral storeysal round;	5 Il adossa au mur du Temple une annexe autour du Hékal et du Debir, et il fit des étages latérauxautour.
6 the lowest lateral storey was five cubits wide, the middle one six cubits, and the third seven cubits, for hehad made the outside of the Temple wal correspondingly stepped back al round, so that the annex was notattached to the Temple wal s.	6 L'étage inférieur avait cinq coudées de large, l'intermédiaire six coudées, et le troisième sept coudées,car il avait disposé des retraits autour du Temple à l'extérieur, en sorte que cela n'était pas lié aux murs duTemple.
7 (The building of the Temple was done with quarry -- dressed stone; no sound of hammer or pick or anyiron tool was to be heard in the Temple while it was being built.)	7 (La construction du Temple se fit en pierres de carrière; on n'entendit ni marteaux, ni pics, ni aucunoutil de fer dans le Temple pendant sa construction.)
8 The entrance to the lowest storey was at the right-hand corner of the Temple; access to the middlestorey was by a spiral staircase, and so from the middle storey to the third.	8 L'entrée de l'étage inférieur était à l'angle droit du Temple, et par des trappes on montait à l'étageintermédiaire, et de l'intermédiaire au troisième.
9 Having finished building the Temple, he roofed the Temple with a coffered ceiling of cedar wood.	9 Il construisit le Temple et l'acheva, et il couvrit le Temple d'un plafond à caissons de cèdre.
10 Round the outside of the Temple he then built the annex which was five cubits high and was joined tothe Temple by cedar-wood beams.	10 Il construisit l'annexe à tout le Temple; elle avait cinq coudées de hauteur et elle était liée au Templepar des poutres de cèdre.
11 And the word of Yahweh came to Solomon,	11 La parole de Yahvé fut adressée à Salomon:
12 'With regard to this temple which you are now building, if you follow my statutes and obey myordinances and faithful y follow my commandments, I shal fulfil the promise which I made about you to yourfather David.	12 "Quant à cette maison que tu es en train de construire, si tu marches selon mes lois, si tu accomplismes ordonnances et si tu suis fidèlement mes commandements, alors j'accomplirai ma parole sur toi, celle quej'ai dite à ton père David,
13 And I shal make my home among the Israelites and never forsake Israel my people.'	13 et j'habiterai au milieu des Israélites et je n'abandonnerai pas mon peuple Israël."
14 Solomon finished building the Temple.	14 Salomon construisit le Temple et il l'acheva.
15 He lined the inside of the Temple wal s with panels of cedar wood-panelling them on the inside fromthe floor of the Temple to the beams of the ceiling -- and laid the floor of the Temple with juniper planks.	15 Il garnit de planches de cèdre la face interne des murs du Temple -- depuis le sol du Templejusqu'aux poutres du plafond, il mit un revêtement de bois à l'intérieur -- et il couvrit de planches de genévrier lesol du Temple.
16 The twenty cubits measured from the end of the Temple he built of cedar planks from the floor to thebeams, and this part was reserved as the Debir, the Holy of Holies.	16 Il construisit les vingt coudées à partir du fond du Temple avec des planches de cèdre depuis le soljusqu'aux poutres, et elles furent mises à part du Temple pour le Debir, le Saint des Saints.
17 The Temple measured forty cubits -- the Hekal -- in front of the Debir.	17 Le Temple avait 40 coudées -- c'est le Hékal -- devant le Debir.
18 There was cedar wood round the inside of the Temple, ornamentally carved with gourds and rosettes;al was cedar wood, with no stone showing.	18 Il y avait du cèdre à l'intérieur du Temple, sculpté d'un décor de coloquintes et de rosaces; tout étaiten cèdre, aucune pierre ne paraissait.
19 In the inner part of the Temple he designed a Debir, to contain the ark of the covenant of Yahweh.	19 Il aménagea un Debir dans le Temple, à l'intérieur, pour y placer l'arche de l'alliance de Yahvé.
20 The Debir was twenty cubits long, twenty cubits wide, and twenty high, and he overlaid it on the insidewith pure gold. He made an altar of cedar wood	20 Le Debir avait vingt coudées de long, vingt coudées de large et vingt coudées de haut, et il lesrevêtit d'or fin; il fit un autel de cèdre
21 in front of the Debir and overlaid it with gold.	21 devant le Debir et il le revêtit d'or.
22 He overlaid the whole Temple with gold, the whole Temple entirely.	22 Tout le Temple, il le revêtit d'or, absolument tout le Temple.
23 In the Debir he made two great winged creatures of wild-olive wood. . .It was ten cubits high.	23 Dans le Debir, il fit deux chérubins en bois d'olivier sauvage... Il avait dix coudées de haut.
24 One winged creature's wing was five cubits long and the other wing five cubits: ten cubits from wing tipto wing tip.	24 Une aile du chérubin avait cinq coudées et la seconde aile du chérubin avait cinq coudées, soit dixcoudées d'une extrémité à l'autre de ses ailes.
25 The other winged creature also measured ten cubits; both had the same measurements and the sameshape.	25 Le second chérubin avait aussi dix coudées: même dimension et même facture pour les deuxchérubins.
26 The height of one was the same as the other's.	26 La hauteur d'un chérubin était de dix coudées, et de même l'autre.
27 He placed them in the middle of the inner chamber; their wings were spread out so that the wing of onetouched one of the wal s and the wing of the other touched the other wall, while their wings met in the middle ofthe chamber wing to wing.	27 Il plaça les chérubins au milieu de la chambre intérieure; ils déployaient leurs ailes, en sorte quel'aile de l'un touchait au mur, que l'aile de l'autre touchait à l'autre mur et que leurs ailes se touchaient au milieude la chambre, aile contre aile.
28 And he overlaid them with gold.	28 Et il revêtit d'or les chérubins.
29 Al round the Temple wal s he carved figures of winged creatures, palm trees and rosettes, both insideand outside.	29 Sur tous les murs du Temple, à l'entour, il sculpta des figures de chérubins, de palmiers et derosaces, à l'intérieur et à l'extérieur.
30 He overlaid the floor of the Temple with gold, both inside and outside.	30 Il couvrit d'or le plancher du Temple, à l'intérieur et à l'extérieur.
31 He made the door of the Debir with uprights of wild-olive wood, and door jambs with five indentedsections,	31 Il fit la porte du Debir à montants en bois d'olivier sauvage, le jambage à cinq retraits,
32 and the two leaves of wild-olive wood. He carved figures of great winged creatures, palm trees androsettes which he overlaid with gold, and he gilded winged creatures and palm trees.	32 deux vantaux en bois d'olivier sauvage. Il sculpta des figures de chérubins, des palmiers et desrosaces, qu'il revêtit d'or; il étendit l'or en pellicule sur les chérubins et les palmiers.
33 Similarly, he made uprights of wild-olive wood for the door of the Hekal, and door jambs with fourindented sections,	33 De même, il fit à la porte du Hékal des montants en bois d'olivier sauvage, le jambage à quatreretraits,
34 and the two leaves of juniper: one leaf had two ribs binding it, and the other had two ribs binding it.	34 deux vantaux en bois de genévrier: un vantail avait deux bandes qui le cerclaient et l'autre vantailavait deux bandes qui le cerclaient.
35 He carved winged creatures, palm trees and rosettes, which he overlaid with gold laid evenly over thecarvings.	35 Il sculpta des chérubins, des palmiers et des rosaces, qu'il revêtit d'or ajusté sur la sculpture.
36 He built the wal of the inner court in three courses of dressed stone and one course of cedar beams.	36 Il construisit le mur de la cour intérieure par trois assises de pierres de taille et une assise demadriers de cèdre.
37 In the fourth year, in the month of Ziv, the foundations of the Temple were laid;	37 En la quatrième année, au mois de Ziv, les fondations du Temple furent posées;
38 in the eleventh year, in the month of Bul -- that is, the eighth month -- the Temple was completedexactly as it had been planned and designed. Solomon took seven years to build it.	38 en la onzième année, au mois de Bûl -- c'est le huitième mois --, le Temple fut achevé selon tout sonplan et toute son ordonnance. Salomon le construisit en sept ans.
