1 Peter 5

New American Bible	Peshitta ܦܫܝܼܛܬܵܐ
¹ So I exhort the presbyters among you, as a fellow presbyter and witness to the sufferings of Christ and one who has a share in the glory to be revealed.	¹ ܒܥܐ ܐܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܡܢ ܩܫܝܫܐ ܕܐܝܬ ܒܟܘܢ ܐܢܐ ܩܫܝܫܐ ܚܒܪܟܘܢ ܘܤܗܕܐ ܕܚܫܘܗܝ ܕܡܫܝܚܐ ܘܫܘܬܦܐ ܕܫܘܒܚܗ ܗܘ ܕܥܬܝܕ ܕܢܬܓܠܐ ܀
² Tend the flock of God in your midst, (overseeing) not by constraint but willingly, as God would have it, not for shameful profit but eagerly.	² ܪܥܘ ܡܪܥܝܬܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܕܡܫܠܡܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܘܤܥܘܪܘ ܪܘܚܢܐܝܬ ܠܐ ܒܩܛܝܪܐ ܐܠܐ ܒܨܒܝܢܐ ܠܐ ܒܝܘܬܪܢܐ ܛܢܦܐ ܐܠܐ ܡܢ ܟܠܗ ܠܒܟܘܢ ܀
³ Do not lord it over those assigned to you, but be examples to the flock.	³ ܠܐ ܐܝܟ ܡܪܝܐ ܕܡܪܥܝܬܐ ܐܠܐ ܐܝܟ ܕܬܗܘܘܢ ܠܗܘܢ ܕܡܘܬܐ ܫܦܝܪܬܐ ܀
⁴ And when the chief Shepherd is revealed, you will receive the unfading crown of glory.	⁴ ܕܟܕ ܢܬܓܠܐ ܪܒ ܪܥܘܬܐ ܬܩܒܠܘܢ ܡܢܗ ܟܠܝܠܐ ܕܫܘܒܚܐ ܕܠܐ ܚܡܐ ܀
⁵ Likewise, you younger members, be subject to the presbyters. And all of you, clothe yourselves with humility in your dealings with one another, for: "God opposes the proud but bestows favor on the humble."	⁵ ܘܐܢܬܘܢ ܥܠܝܡܐ ܐܫܬܥܒܕܘ ܠܩܫܝܫܝܟܘܢ ܘܐܬܥܛܦܘ ܚܝܨܐܝܬ ܡܟܝܟܘܬ ܪܥܝܢܐ ܠܘܬ ܚܕܕܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܤܩܘܒܠܐ ܗܘ ܕܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܡܬܬܪܝܡܝܢ ܘܠܡܟܝܟܐ ܝܗܒ ܛܝܒܘܬܐ ܀
⁶ So humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time.	⁶ ܐܬܡܟܟܘ ܗܟܝܠ ܬܚܝܬ ܐܝܕܗ ܬܩܝܦܬܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܕܗܝ ܬܪܝܡܟܘܢ ܒܙܒܢܐ ܕܙܕܩ ܀
⁷ Cast all your worries upon him because he cares for you.	⁷ ܘܨܦܬܟܘܢ ܟܠܗ ܫܕܘ ܥܠ ܐܠܗܐ ܕܠܗ ܒܛܝܠ ܥܠܝܟܘܢ ܀
⁸ Be sober and vigilant. Your opponent the devil is prowling around like a roaring lion looking for (someone) to devour.	⁸ ܐܬܬܥܝܪܘ ܘܥܗܕܘ ܡܛܠ ܕܒܥܠܕܒܒܟܘܢ ܤܛܢܐ ܐܝܟ ܐܪܝܐ ܢܗܡ ܘܡܗܠܟ ܘܒܥܐ ܕܠܡܢܘ ܢܒܠܥ ܀
⁹ Resist him, steadfast in faith, knowing that your fellow believers throughout the world undergo the same sufferings.	⁹ ܩܘܡܘ ܗܟܝܠ ܠܩܘܒܠܗ ܟܕ ܡܫܪܪܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܒܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܘܕܥܘ ܕܐܦ ܥܠ ܐܚܝܟܘܢ ܕܒܥܠܡܐ ܗܢܘܢ ܗܠܝܢ ܚܫܐ ܥܪܨܝܢ ܀
¹⁰ The God of all grace who called you to his eternal glory through Christ (Jesus) will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you after you have suffered a little.	¹⁰ ܐܠܗܐ ܕܝܢ ܕܛܝܒܘܬܐ ܗܘ ܕܩܪܢ ܠܫܘܒܚܗ ܕܠܥܠܡ ܒܝܕ ܝܫܘܥ ܡܫܝܚܐ ܗܘ ܕܝܗܒ ܠܢ ܕܟܕ ܢܤܝܒܪ ܗܠܝܢ ܐܘܠܨܢܐ ܙܥܘܪܐ ܕܢܬܚܝܠ ܘܢܫܬܪܪ ܘܢܬܩܝܡ ܒܗ ܠܥܠܡ ܀
¹¹ To him be dominion forever. Amen.	¹¹ ܕܠܗ ܫܘܒܚܐ ܘܐܘܚܕܢܐ ܘܐܝܩܪܐ ܠܥܠܡ ܥܠܡܝܢ ܐܡܝܢ ܀
¹² I write you this briefly through Silvanus, whom I consider a faithful brother, exhorting you and testifying that this is the true grace of God. Remain firm in it.	¹² ܗܠܝܢ ܙܥܘܪܝܬܐ ܐܝܟ ܕܤܒܪ ܐܢܐ ܟܬܒܬ ܠܟܘܢ ܒܝܕ ܤܠܘܢܘܤ ܐܚܐ ܡܗܝܡܢܐ ܘܡܦܤ ܐܢܐ ܘܤܗܕ ܐܢܐ ܕܗܕܐ ܗܝ ܛܝܒܘܬܐ ܫܪܝܪܬܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܗܕܐ ܕܩܝܡܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܒܗ ܀
¹³ The chosen one at Babylon sends you greeting, as does Mark, my son.	¹³ ܫܐܠܐ ܫܠܡܟܘܢ ܥܕܬܐ ܓܒܝܬܐ ܕܒܒܒܠ ܘܡܪܩܘܤ ܒܪܝ ܀
¹⁴ Greet one another with a loving kiss. Peace to all of you who are in Christ.	¹⁴ ܫܐܠܘ ܒܫܠܡܐ ܚܕ ܕܚܕ ܒܢܘܫܩܬܐ ܩܕܝܫܬܐ ܫܠܡܐ ܥܡ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܒܡܫܝܚܐ ܐܢܘܢ ܐܡܝܢ ܀
