NEW AMERICAN BIBLEKING JAMES BIBLE
Now the Spirit explicitly says that in the last times some will turn away from the faith by paying attention to deceitful spirits and demonic instructions1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
through the hypocrisy of liars with branded consciences.2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
They forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected when received with thanksgiving,4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
for it is made holy by the invocation of God in prayer.5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
If you will give these instructions to the brothers, you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus, nourished on the words of the faith and of the sound teaching you have followed.6 If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.
Avoid profane and silly myths. Train yourself for devotion,7 But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.
for, while physical training is of limited value, devotion is valuable in every respect, since it holds a promise of life both for the present and for the future.8 For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.
This saying is trustworthy and deserves full acceptance.9 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.
For this we toil and struggle, because we have set our hope on the living God, who is the savior of all, especially of those who believe.10 For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.
Command and teach these things.11 These things command and teach.
Let no one have contempt for your youth, but set an example for those who believe, in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity.12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
Until I arrive, attend to the reading, exhortation, and teaching.13 Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.
Do not neglect the gift you have, which was conferred on you through the prophetic word with the imposition of hands of the presbyterate.14 Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.
Be diligent in these matters, be absorbed in them, so that your progress may be evident to everyone.15 Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.
Attend to yourself and to your teaching; persevere in both tasks, for by doing so you will save both yourself and those who listen to you.16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.
