NEW AMERICAN BIBLEDOUAI-RHEIMS
When the sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary, the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go and anoint him.1 And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalen, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, bought sweet spices, that coming, they might anoint Jesus.
Very early when the sun had risen, on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb.2 And very early in the morning, the first day of the week, they come to the sepulchre, the sun being now risen.
They were saying to one another, "Who will roll back the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?"3 And they said one to another: Who shall roll us back the stone from the door of the sepulchre?
When they looked up, they saw that the stone had been rolled back; it was very large.4 And looking, they saw the stone rolled back. For it was very great.
On entering the tomb they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a white robe, and they were utterly amazed.5 And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed with a white robe: and they were astonished.
He said to them, "Do not be amazed! You seek Jesus of Nazareth, the crucified. He has been raised; he is not here. Behold the place where they laid him.6 Who saith to them: Be not affrighted; you seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified: he is risen, he is not here, behold the place where they laid him.
But go and tell his disciples and Peter, 'He is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him, as he told you.'"7 But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you into Galilee; there you shall see him, as he told you.
Then they went out and fled from the tomb, seized with trembling and bewilderment. They said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.8 But they going out, fled from the sepulchre. For a trembling and fear had seized them: and they said nothing to any man; for they were afraid.
( When he had risen, early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had driven seven demons.9 But he rising early the first day of the week, appeared first to Mary Magdalen, out of whom he had cast seven devils.
She went and told his companions who were mourning and weeping.10 She went and told them that had been with him, who were mourning and weeping.
When they heard that he was alive and had been seen by her, they did not believe.11 And they hearing that he was alive, and had been seen by her, did not believe.
After this he appeared in another form to two of them walking along on their way to the country.12 And after that he appeared in another shape to two of them walking, as they were going into the country.
They returned and told the others; but they did not believe them either.13 And they going told it to the rest: neither did they believe them.
(But) later, as the eleven were at table, he appeared to them and rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of heart because they had not believed those who saw him after he had been raised.14 At length he appeared to the eleven as they were at table: and he upbraided them with their incredulity and hardness of heart, because they did not believe them who had seen him after he was risen again.
He said to them, "Go into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to every creature.15 And he said to them: Go ye into the whole world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved; whoever does not believe will be condemned.16 He that believeth and is baptized, shall be saved: but he that believeth not shall be condemned.
These signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will drive out demons, they will speak new languages.17 And these signs shall follow them that believe: In my name they shall cast out devils: they shall speak with new tongues.
They will pick up serpents (with their hands), and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not harm them. They will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."18 They shall take up serpents; and if they shall drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them: they shall lay their hands upon the sick, and they shall recover.
So then the Lord Jesus, after he spoke to them, was taken up into heaven and took his seat at the right hand of God.19 And the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God.
But they went forth and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the word through accompanying signs.)20 But they going forth preached every where: the Lord working withal, and confirming the word with signs that followed.
