Hosea 4

1 Hear the word of the LORD, O people of Israel, for the LORD has a grievance against the inhabitants of the land: There is no fidelity, no mercy, no knowledge of God in the land.	1 Escuchad la palabra de Yahveh, hijos de Israel, que tiene pleito Yahveh con los habitantes de esta tierra, pues no hay ya fidelidad ni amor, ni conocimiento de Dios en esta tierra;
2 False swearing, lying, murder, stealing and adultery! in their lawlessness, bloodshed follows bloodshed.	2 sino perjurio y mentira, asesinato y robo, adulterio y violencia, sangre que sucede a sangre.
3 Therefore the land mourns, and everything that dwells in it languishes: The beasts of the field, the birds of the air, and even the fish of the sea perish.	3 Por eso, la tierra está en duelo, y se marchita cuanto en ella habita, con las bestias del campo y las aves del cielo; y hasta los peces del mar desaparecen.
4 But let no one protest, let no one complain; with you is my grievance, O priests!	4 ¡Pero nadie pleitee ni reprenda nadie, pues sólo contigo, sacerdote, es mi pleito!
5 You shall stumble in the day, and the prophets shall stumble with you at night; I will destroy your mother.	5 En pleno día tropezarás tú, también el profeta tropezará contigo en la noche, y yo haré perecer a tu madre.
6 My people perish for want of knowledge! Since you have rejected knowledge, I will reject you from my priesthood; Since you have ignored the law of your God, I will also ignore your sons.	6 Perece mi pueblo por falta de conocimiento. Ya que tú has rechazado el conocimiento, yo te rechazaré de mi sacerdocio; ya que tú has olvidado la Ley de tu Dios, también yo me olvidaré de tus hijos.
7 One and all they sin against me, exchanging their glory for shame.	7 Todos, cuantos son, han pecado contra mí, han cambiado su Gloria por la Ignominia.
8 They feed on the sin of my people, and are greedy for their guilt.	8 Del pecado de mi pueblo comen y hacia su culpa llevan su avidez.
9 The priests shall fare no better than the people: I will punish them for their ways, and repay them for their deeds.	9 Mas será del sacerdote lo que sea del pueblo: yo le visitaré por su conducta y sus obras le devolveré.
10 They shall eat but not be satisfied, they shall play the harlot but not increase, Because they have abandoned the LORD	10 Comerán, pero no se saciarán, se prostituirán, pero no proliferarán, porque han abandonado a Yahveh para dedicarse
11 to practice harlotry. Old wine and new deprive my people of understanding.	11 a la prostitución. El vino y el mosto arrebatan el seso.
12 They consult their piece of wood, and their wand makes pronouncements for them, For the spirit of harlotry has led them astray; they commit harlotry, forsaking their God.	12 Mi pueblo consulta a su madero, y su palo le adoctrina, porque un espíritu de prostitución le extravía, y se protituyen sacudiéndose de su Dios.
13 On the mountaintops they offer sacrifice and on the hills they burn incense, Beneath oak and poplar and terebinth, because of their pleasant shade. That is why your daughters play the harlot, and your daughters-in-law are adulteresses.	13 En las cimas de los montes sacrifican, en las colinas queman incienso, bajo la encina, el chopo o el terebinto, ¡porque es buena su sombra! Por eso, si se prostituyen vuestras hijas y vuestras nueras cometen adulterio,
14 Am I then to punish your daughters for their harlotry, your daughters-in-law for their adultery? You yourselves consort with harlots, and with prostitutes you offer sacrifice! So must a people without understanding come to ruin.	14 no visitaré yo a vuestras hijas porque se prostituyan ni a vuestras nueras porque cometan adulterio, pues que ellos también se retiran con esas prostitutas y sacrifican con las consagradas a la prostitución; ¡y el pueblo, insensato, se pierde!
15 Though you play the harlot, O Israel, let not Judah become guilty! Come not to Gilgal, nor up to Beth-aven, to swear, "As the Lord lives!"	15 Si tú, Israel, te prostituyes, que no se haga culpable Judá. ¡No vayáis a Guilgal, No subáis a Bet Aven, no juréis «por vida de Yahveh»!
16 For Israel is as stubborn as a heifer; will the LORD now give them broad pastures as though they were lambs?	16 Ya que Israel se ha embravecido cual vaca brava, ¿los va a apacentar ahora Yahveh como a un cordero en ancho prado?
17 Ephraim is an associate of idols, let him alone!	17 Efraím se ha apegado a sus ídolos, ¡déjale!
18 When their carousing is over, they give themselves to harlotry; in their arrogance they love shame.	18 En saliendo de beber se prostituyen más y más, prefieren a su Prez la Ignominia.
19 The wind has bound them up in its pinions; they shall have only shame from their altars.	19 El viento los cerrará entre sus alas, y se avergonzarán de sus sacrificios.
