1 Thus the word of the LORD came to me:	1 Mi giunse la parola del Signore:
2 Son of man, look southward, preach toward the south, and prophesy against the forest of the southern land.	2 "Figlio dell'uomo, rivolgi la faccia verso il meridione, pronuncia un vaticinio verso l'austro, profetizza sulla foresta del sud.
3 Hear the word of the LORD! you shall say to the southern forest. Thus says the Lord GOD: See! I am kindling a fire in you that shall devour all trees, the green as well as the dry. The blazing flame shall not be quenched, but from south to north every face shall be scorched by it.	3 Dirai alla foresta del sud: Ascolta la parola del Signore: Così dice il Signore Dio: Ora appicco in te un fuoco che ti consumerà ogni legno verde e ogni legno secco; la fiamma ardente non si spegnerà, ogni cosa vi sarà bruciata da sud a nord
4 Everyone shall see that I, the LORD, have kindled it, and it shall not be quenched.	4 e ogni creatura vedrà che io, il Signore, l'ho incendiata: non si spegnerà".
5 But I said, "Alas! Lord GOD, they say to me, 'Is not this the one who is forever spinning parables?'"	5 Allora dissi: "Ahi, Dio, mio Signore! Essi vanno dicendo di me: "Non è forse pieno di favole costui?".
6 Then the word of the LORD came to me:	6 Ma mi giunse la parola del Signore:
7 Son of man, look toward Jerusalem, preach against their sanctuary, and prophesy against the land of Israel,	7 "Figlio dell'uomo, volgi la faccia verso Gerusalemme, pronuncia un vaticinio contro i suoi santuari, profetizza contro il paese d'Israele.
8 saying to the land of Israel: Thus says the LORD: See! I am coming at you; I will draw my sword from its sheath and cut off from you the virtuous and the wicked.	8 Di' al paese d'Israele: Così dice il Signore: Eccomi contro di te! Estrarrò la mia spada dal fodero e reciderò da te giusti ed empi.
9 Thus my sword shall leave its sheath against everyone from south to north,	9 Perché io recida da te giusti ed empi, deve uscire la mia spada dal fodero contro ogni creatura da sud a nord.
10 and everyone shall know that I, the LORD, have drawn my sword from its sheath, and it shall not be sheathed again.	10 Ogni creatura riconoscerà che io, il Signore, ho estratto la mia spada dal fodero e che non vi rientrerà più.
11 As for you, son of man, groan! with shattered strength groan bitterly while they look on.	11 E tu, figlio dell'uomo, gemi con i lembi disfatti, nell'amarezza gemi al loro cospetto.
12 And when they ask you, "Why are you groaning?", you shall say: Because of a report; when it comes every heart shall fail, every hand shall fall helpless, every spirit shall be daunted, and every knee shall run with water. See, it is coming, it is here! says the Lord GOD.	12 Succederà che essi ti domanderanno: "Perché gemi?". E tu dirai: "Per una notizia che è arrivata; ogni cuore è disfatto, le braccia snervate, gli spiriti sono spaventati, le ginocchia si sciolgono". Ecco che è giunta e si avvera. Oracolo di Dio, mio Signore".
13 Thus the word of the LORD came to me:	13 Mi giunse la parola del Signore:
14 Son of man, prophesy! say: Thus says the LORD: A sword, a sword has been sharpened, a sword, a sword has been burnished:	14 "Figlio dell'uomo, profetizza e di': Così dice il mio Signore: Una spada, una spada è affilata ed è anche levigata!
15 To work slaughter has it been sharpened, to flash lightning has it been burnished. Why should I now withdraw it? You have spurned the rod and every judgment!	15 Per ammazzare è affilata, perché essa lampeggi è levigata.

17 Cry out and wail, son of man, for it is destined for my people; It is for all the princes of Israel, victims of the sword with my people. 19 As for you, son of man, prophesy, brushing one hand against the other: While the sword is doubled and tripled, this sword of slaughter, This great sword of slaughter which threatens all around,	19 E tu, figlio dell'uomo, profetizza e batti le mani, sia raddoppiata la spada e triplicata; è una spada feritrice, grande spada che ferisce, che rotea loro attorno,
20 That every heart may tremble; for many will be the fallen. At all their gates I have appointed the sword for slaughter, Fashioned to flash lightning, burnished for slaughter.	20 sì da far sussultare il cuore. Si moltiplicano i caduti: a tutte le loro porte ho seminato strage. Ahi, spada fatta per lampeggiare, sfoderata per sgozzare!
21 Cleave to the right! destroy! to the left! wherever your edge is turned.	21 Colpisci a destra! Penetra a sinistra! Là dov'è diretta la tua lama.
22 Then I, too, shall brush one hand against the other and wreak my fury. I, the LORD, have spoken.	22 Anch'io batto le mani e sfogherò il mio furore. Io, il Signore, ho parlato".
23 Thus the word of the LORD came to me:	23 Mi giunse la parola del Signore:
24 Son of man, make for yourself two roads over which the sword of the king of Babylon can come. Both roads shall lead out from the same land. Then put a signpost at the head of each road,	24 "Tu, figlio dell'uomo, traccia due strade, per il passaggio della spada del re di Babilonia; partiranno entrambe dal medesimo paese. Poni un'indicazione stradale; disegna un'indicazione al bivio della città.

29 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Because you have drawn attention to your guilt, with your crimes laid bare and your sinfulness in all your wicked deeds revealed (because attention has been drawn to you), you shall be taken in hand.	29 Perciò così dice Dio, mio Signore: Poiché accusate da voi stessi le vostre colpe, svelando le vostre ribellioni e mostrando i vostri peccati con tutte le vostre azioni, poiché le accusate voi stessi, sarete presi al laccio.
30 And as for you, depraved and wicked prince of Israel, whose day is coming when your life of crime will be ended,	30 E quanto a te, contaminato empio principe d'Israele, di cui è arrivato il giorno, ora che la colpa è arrivata alla fine,
31 thus says the Lord GOD: Off with the turban and away with the crown! Nothing shall be as it was! Up with the low and down with the high!	31 così dice Dio, mio Signore: Deponi il turbante, lèvati la corona! Tutto sarà trasformato: ciò che è basso sarà elevato e ciò che è alto sarà abbassato.

33 As for you, son of man, prophesy: Thus says the Lord GOD against the Ammonites and their insults: A sword, a sword is drawn for slaughter, burnished to consume and to flash lightning,	33 "Tu, figlio dell'uomo, profetizza e di': Così dice Dio, mio Signore, riguardo ai figli di Ammon e al loro scherno: O spada sguainata per sgozzare, levigata per annientare, per lampeggiare,
34 because you planned with false visions and lying divinations to lay it on the necks of depraved and wicked men whose day has come when their crimes are at an end.	34 mentre essi hanno false visioni e fanno divinazioni menzognere su di te, io ti destino alle gole di quegli empi contaminati, di cui è arrivato il giorno, ora che la colpa è arrivata alla fine.

37 You shall be fuel for the fire, your blood shall flow throughout the land. You shall not be remembered, for I, the LORD, have spoken.	37 Sarai preda del fuoco; il tuo sangue è sparso per il paese. Non sarai più ricordato. Io, il Signore, ho parlato".
