1 Thus the word of the LORD came to me:	1 Das Wort des Herrn erging an mich:
2 Son of man, look southward, preach toward the south, and prophesy against the forest of the southern land.	2 Menschensohn, richte dein Gesicht nach Süden, weissage gegen das Südland, tritt als Prophet auf gegen den Wald im Süden
3 Hear the word of the LORD! you shall say to the southern forest. Thus says the Lord GOD: See! I am kindling a fire in you that shall devour all trees, the green as well as the dry. The blazing flame shall not be quenched, but from south to north every face shall be scorched by it.	3 und sag zum Wald des Südlands: Höre das Wort des Herrn: So spricht Gott, der Herr: Ich will Feuer an dich legen, jeden grünen Baum und jeden dürren Baum in dir wird es verzehren. Seine lodernde Flamme wird nicht erlöschen. Alle Gesichter sollen von ihr versengt werden, vom Süden bis zum Norden.
4 Everyone shall see that I, the LORD, have kindled it, and it shall not be quenched.	4 Dann wird jeder Sterbliche sehen, dass ich, der Herr, das Feuer entfacht habe. Und es wird nicht erlöschen.
5 But I said, "Alas! Lord GOD, they say to me, 'Is not this the one who is forever spinning parables?'"	5 Da sagte ich: Ach, Herr und Gott, sie sagen über mich: Er redet ja immer nur in Gleichnissen.
6 Then the word of the LORD came to me:	6 Das Wort des Herrn erging an mich:
7 Son of man, look toward Jerusalem, preach against their sanctuary, and prophesy against the land of Israel,	7 Menschensohn, richte dein Gesicht gegen Jerusalem, weissage gegen sein Heiligtum, tritt als Prophet auf gegen das Land Israel
8 saying to the land of Israel: Thus says the LORD: See! I am coming at you; I will draw my sword from its sheath and cut off from you the virtuous and the wicked.	8 und sag zu ihm: So spricht Gott, der Herr: Nun gehe ich gegen dich vor. Ich ziehe mein Schwert aus der Scheide und rotte bei dir die Gerechten ebenso wie die Schuldigen aus.
9 Thus my sword shall leave its sheath against everyone from south to north,	9 Weil ich bei dir die Gerechten und die Schuldigen ausrotten will, deshalb wird mein Schwert aus seiner Scheide fahren, gegen jeden Sterblichen vom Süden bis zum Norden.
10 and everyone shall know that I, the LORD, have drawn my sword from its sheath, and it shall not be sheathed again.	10 Dann werden alle Sterblichen erkennen, dass ich, der Herr, mein Schwert aus der Scheide gezogen habe. Es wird nicht mehr in die Scheide zurückkehren.
11 As for you, son of man, groan! with shattered strength groan bitterly while they look on.	11 Du, Menschensohn, stöhne: Stöhne mit gebrochenen Hüften und in bitterem Schmerz vor ihren Augen.
12 And when they ask you, "Why are you groaning?", you shall say: Because of a report; when it comes every heart shall fail, every hand shall fall helpless, every spirit shall be daunted, and every knee shall run with water. See, it is coming, it is here! says the Lord GOD.	12 Wenn sie dann zu dir sagen: Warum stöhnst du?, antworte: Weil eine Nachricht kommt, bei der jedes Herz verzagt, alle Hände kraftlos heruntersinken, bei der jeder Atem stockt und an allen Knien das Wasser herabläuft. Seht, es kommt und geschieht - Spruch Gottes, des Herrn.
13 Thus the word of the LORD came to me:	13 Das Wort des Herrn erging an mich:
14 Son of man, prophesy! say: Thus says the LORD: A sword, a sword has been sharpened, a sword, a sword has been burnished:	14 Menschensohn, tritt als Prophet auf und sag: So spricht Gott, der Herr: Sag: Ein Schwert, ein Schwert, geschärft und poliert.
15 To work slaughter has it been sharpened, to flash lightning has it been burnished. Why should I now withdraw it? You have spurned the rod and every judgment!	15 Zum Schlachten, zum Schlachten ist es geschärft; um wie ein Blitz zu leuchten, ist es poliert. [Oder sollen wir uns freuen? Der Stock meines Sohnes verachtet jedes andere Holz.]
16 I have given it over to the burnisher that he might hold it in his hand, A sword sharpened and burnished to be put in the hand of a slayer.	16 Man gab es zum Polieren, dann packt es die Faust, ein Schwert, geschärft und poliert für des Henkers Hand.
17 Cry out and wail, son of man, for it is destined for my people; It is for all the princes of Israel, victims of the sword with my people. Therefore, slap your thigh,	17 Schrei und heule, Menschensohn! Denn es richtet sich gegen mein Volk, gegen alle Fürsten von Israel. Dem Schwert sind sie verfallen, sie und mein Volk. Darum schlag auf die Hüfte!
18 for the sword has been tested; and why should it not be so? says the Lord GOD, since you have spurned the rod.	18 Denn es wurde erprobt. [Doch was wird, wenn auch der verachtende Stock nicht mehr ist?] - Spruch Gottes, des Herrn.
19 As for you, son of man, prophesy, brushing one hand against the other: While the sword is doubled and tripled, this sword of slaughter, This great sword of slaughter which threatens all around,	19 Du, Menschensohn, sprich als Prophet und schlag die Hände zusammen! Verdoppelt wird das Schwert, ja verdreifacht. Ein Schwert zum Morden ist es, zum Morden, das gewaltige Schwert, das sie durchbohrt.
20 That every heart may tremble; for many will be the fallen. At all their gates I have appointed the sword for slaughter, Fashioned to flash lightning, burnished for slaughter.	20 Das Herz soll verzagen und viele sollen straucheln. An all ihren Toren habe ich dem Schwert zu schlachten befohlen. Ja, zum Blitzen bist du gemacht, zum Schlachten poliert.
21 Cleave to the right! destroy! to the left! wherever your edge is turned.	21 Zeig, dass du scharf bist! Zucke nach rechts und nach links, wohin deine Schneide gelenkt wird.
22 Then I, too, shall brush one hand against the other and wreak my fury. I, the LORD, have spoken.	22 Auch ich schlage die Hände zusammen; meinen Zorn will ich stillen. - Ich, der Herr, habe gesprochen.
23 Thus the word of the LORD came to me:	23 Das Wort des Herrn erging an mich:
24 Son of man, make for yourself two roads over which the sword of the king of Babylon can come. Both roads shall lead out from the same land. Then put a signpost at the head of each road,	24 Du, Menschensohn, mach dir zwei Wege, auf denen das Schwert des Königs von Babel kommt. Sie sollen beide vom gleichen Land ausgehen. Am Anfang der beiden Wege stell einen Wegweiser zu je einer Stadt auf!
25 so that the sword can come to Rabbah of the Ammonites or to Judah's capital, Jerusalem.	25 Gib die Richtung an, die das Schwert einschlagen kann: entweder Rabbat-Ammon oder Juda mit dem befestigten Jerusalem.
26 For at the fork where the two roads divide stands the king of Babylon, divining; he has shaken the arrows, inquired of the teraphim, inspected the liver.	26 Denn der König von Babel steht an der Wegscheide, am Anfang der zwei Wege, und lässt das Orakel entscheiden: Er schüttelt die Pfeile, befragt die Götterbilder und hält Leberschau.
27 In his right hand is the divining arrow marked "Jerusalem," bidding him to give the order for slaying, to raise his voice in the battle cry, to post battering rams at the gates, to cast up a ramp, to build a siege tower.	27 In seiner rechten Hand hält er den Entscheid des Orakels: Jerusalem. Jetzt wird er die Sturmböcke aufstellen, das Kampflied anstimmen, das Kriegsgeschrei erheben, die Sturmböcke auf die Tore richten, einen Damm aufschütten und Belagerungstürme bauen.
28 In their eyes this is but a lying oracle; yet they are bound by the oaths they have sworn, and the arrow taken in hand marks their guilt.	28 Doch in den Augen der Leute (von Jerusalem) ist das Orakel bedeutungslos. Für sie galten heilige Eide, darum wird er (der König von Babel) sie an ihre Schuld erinnern und sie packen.
29 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Because you have drawn attention to your guilt, with your crimes laid bare and your sinfulness in all your wicked deeds revealed (because attention has been drawn to you), you shall be taken in hand.	29 Darum - so spricht Gott, der Herr: Ihr habt selbst an eure Schuld erinnert - eure Vergehen liegen offen zutage, eure Sünden sind samt all euren Untaten ans Licht gekommen -, und weil ihr überführt seid, wird man euch mit Gewalt packen.
30 And as for you, depraved and wicked prince of Israel, whose day is coming when your life of crime will be ended,	30 Du entweihter, verbrecherischer Fürst von Israel, für den der Tag gekommen ist, die Zeit der endgültigen Abrechnung!
31 thus says the Lord GOD: Off with the turban and away with the crown! Nothing shall be as it was! Up with the low and down with the high!	31 So spricht Gott, der Herr: Weg mit dem Turban, herunter mit der Krone! Nichts soll bleiben, wie es ist. Das Niedrige wird hoch, das Hohe wird niedrig.
32 Twisted, twisted, twisted will I leave it; it shall not be the same until he comes who has the claim against the city; and to him I will hand it over.	32 Zu Trümmern, Trümmern, Trümmern mache ich die Stadt. [Auch dies geschieht nicht, bis der kommt, der auf sie ein Anrecht hat und dem ich sie geben will.]
33 As for you, son of man, prophesy: Thus says the Lord GOD against the Ammonites and their insults: A sword, a sword is drawn for slaughter, burnished to consume and to flash lightning,	33 Du aber, Menschensohn, sprich als Prophet und sag: So spricht Gott, der Herr, über die Ammoniter und ihr Hohngelächter. Du sollst sagen: Schwert, Schwert, gezückt zum Schlachten, poliert, um ganze Arbeit zu tun, um wie ein Blitz einzuschlagen.
34 because you planned with false visions and lying divinations to lay it on the necks of depraved and wicked men whose day has come when their crimes are at an end.	34 Während sie noch für dich leere Visionen haben und dir falsche Orakel verkünden, ist den todgeweihten Verbrechern das Schwert schon an den Hals gelegt; jetzt ist für sie der Tag gekommen, die Zeit der endgültigen Abrechnung.
35 Return it to its sheath! In the place where you were created, in the land of your origin, I will judge you.	35 Steck das Schwert in die Scheide! An dem Ort, wo du erschaffen wurdest, im Land deiner Herkunft will ich dich richten.
36 I will pour out my indignation upon you, breathing my fiery wrath upon you, I will hand you over to ravaging men, artisans of destruction.	36 Ich gieße meinen Groll über dich aus, das Feuer meines Zorns will ich gegen dich entfachen. Ich liefere dich grausamen Menschen aus, die ihr mörderisches Handwerk verstehen.
37 You shall be fuel for the fire, your blood shall flow throughout the land. You shall not be remembered, for I, the LORD, have spoken.	37 Das Feuer soll dich verzehren. Mitten im Land soll dein Blut fließen. An dich wird sich niemand erinnern. Denn ich, der Herr, habe gesprochen.
