NEW AMERICAN BIBLE	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 How different the man who devotes himself to the study of the law of the Most High! He explores the wisdom of the men of old and occupies himself with the prophecies;	1 No pasa lo mismo con el que consagra su vida a reflexionar sobre la Ley del Altísimo. El busca la sabiduría de todos los antiguos y dedica su tiempo a estudiar las profecías;
2 He treasures the discourses of famous men, and goes to the heart of involved sayings;	2 conserva los dichos de los hombres famosos y penetra en las sutilezas de las parábolas;
3 He studies obscure parables, and is busied with the hidden meanings of the sages.	3 indaga el sentido oculto de los proverbios y estudia sin cesar las sentencias enigmáticas.
4 He is in attendance on the great, and has entrance to the ruler.	4 Presta servicio entre los grandes y se lo ve en la presencia de los jefes; viaja por países extranjero, porque conoce por experiencia lo bueno y lo malo de los hombres.
5 He travels among the peoples of foreign lands to learn what is good and evil among men.	5 De todo corazón, muy de madrugada, se dirige al Señor, su Creador, y suplica en la presencia del Altísimo; abre sus labios para orar y pide perdón por sus pecados.
6 His care is to seek the LORD, his Maker, to petition the Most High, To open his lips in prayer, to ask pardon for his sins. Then, if it pleases the LORD Almighty, he will be filled with the spirit of understanding; He will pour forth his words of wisdom and in prayer give thanks to the LORD,	6 Si el gran Señor así lo desea, será colmado del espíritu de inteligencia: derramará como lluvia sus sabias palabras y celebrará al Señor con su plegaria;
7 Who will direct his knowledge and his counsel, as he meditates upon his mysteries.	7 dirigirá rectamente su conejo y su ciencia y reflexionará sobre los secretos de Dios;
8 He will show the wisdom of what he has learned and glory in the law of the LORD'S covenant.	8 con su enseñanza hará brillar la doctrina y se gloriará en la Ley de Alianza del Señor.
9 Many will praise his understanding; his fame can never be effaced; Unfading will be his memory, through all generations his name will live;	9 Muchos alabarán su inteligencia, que nunca caerá en el olvido; su recuerdo no se borrará jamás y su nombre vivirá para siempre.
10 Peoples will speak of his wisdom, and in assembly sing his praises.	10 Las naciones hablarán de su sabiduría y la asamblea proclamará su alabanza.
11 While he lives he is one out of a thousand, and when he dies his renown will not cease.	11 Si vive largo tiempo, tendrá más renombre que otros mil; si entra en el reposo, eso le bastará.
12 Once more I will set forth my theme to shine like the moon in its fullness!	12 Voy a seguir exponiendo mis reflexiones, porque estoy colmado como la luna llena.
13 Listen, my faithful children: open up your petals, like roses planted near running waters;	13 Escúchenme, hijos santos, y crezcan como rosal que brota junto a la corriente de agua.
14 Send up the sweet odor of incense, break forth in blossoms like the lily. Send up the sweet odor of your hymn of praise; bless the LORD for all he has done!	14 Exhalen suave fragancia como el incienso y florezcan como el lirio; derramen aroma y entonen un canto, bendigan al Señor por todas sus obras.
15 Proclaim the greatness of his name, loudly sing his praises, With music on the harp and all stringed instruments; sing out with joy as you proclaim:	15 Reconozcan que su Nombre es grande, denle gracias, proclamando su alabanza, con cantos en los labios y con arpas, y digan en la acción de gracias:
16 The works of God are all of them good; in its own time every need is supplied.	16 ¡Qué hermosas son todas las obras del Señor, y todo lo que él ordena se cumple a su tiempo! No hay por qué decir: «¿Qué es esto? ¿Para qué está?». Porque todo será comprendido en su momento.
17 At his word the waters become still as in a flask; he had but to speak and the reservoirs were made.	17 Por su palabra, las aguas se detuvieron como una masa; por una de sus órdenes, se formaron los depósitos de agua.
18 He has but to command and his will is done; nothing can limit his achievement.	18 El lo ordena, y se cumple su voluntad, y nadie puede menoscabar su obra salvadora.
19 The works of all mankind are present to him; not a thing escapes his eye.	19 Las obras de todo ser viviente están ante él y nada puede ocultarse a sus ojos.
20 His gaze spans all the ages; to him there is nothing unexpected.	20 El abarca con la mira los límites del tiempo y no hay nada extraordinario para él.
21 No cause then to say: "What is the purpose of this?" Everything is chosen to satisfy a need.	21 No hay por qué decir: «¿Qué es esto? ¿Para qué está?». Porque todo ha sido creado con un fin.
22 His blessing overflows like the Nile; like the Euphrates it enriches the surface of the earth.	22 Su bendición desborda como un río y como un diluvio, empapa la tierra.
23 Again, his wrath expels the nations and turns fertile land into a salt marsh.	23 Pero su ira será la herencia de las naciones, igual que cuando él cambió las aguas en sal.
24 For the virtuous his paths are level, to the haughty they are steep;	24 Sus caminos son rectos para los santos, pero están llenos de obstáculos para los impíos.
25 Good things for the good he provided from the beginning, but for the wicked good things and bad.	25 Los bienes fueron creados desde el principio para los buenos, así como los males para los pecadores.
26 Chief of all needs for human life are water and fire, iron and salt, The heart of the wheat, milk and honey, the blood of the grape, and oil, and cloth;	26 Lo más indispensable para la vida del hombre es el agua y el fuego, el hierro y la sal, la harina de trigo, la leche y la miel, la sangre de la vid, el aceite y la ropa:
27 For the good all these are good, but for the wicked they turn out evil.	27 todo esto es beneficioso para los buenos, y se vuelve perjudicial para los pecadores.
28 There are storm winds created to punish, which in their fury can dislodge mountains; When destruction must be, they hurl all their force and appease the anger of their Maker.	28 Hay vientos que fueron creados para el castigo, y en su furor, él los hace más impetuosos: en el momento de la destrucción, desencadenan su violencia y apaciguan el furor de aquel que los hizo.
29 In his treasury also, kept for the proper time, are fire and hail, famine, disease,	29 Fuego, granizo, hambre y peste: todo esto fue creado para el castigo.
30 Ravenous beasts, scorpions, vipers, and the avenging sword to exterminate the wicked;	30 Los dientes de las fieras, los escorpiones y las víboras, y la espada vengadora que destruye al impío,
31 In doing his bidding they rejoice, in their assignments they disobey not his command.	31 todos ellos se alegran de sus órdenes y están sobre la tierra dispuestos a servirlo: llegado el momento, no transgredirán su palabra.
32 So from the first I took my stand, and wrote down as my theme:	32 Por eso, desde el principio, convencí de esto, reflexioné, y lo puse por escrito:
33 The works of God are all of them good; every need when it comes he fills.	33 Las obras del Señor son todas buenas, y a su debido tiempo, él provee a toda necesidad.
34 No cause then to say: "This is not as good as that"; for each shows its worth at the proper time.	34 No hay por qué decir: «Esto es peor que aquello», porque a su tiempo todo será reconocido como bueno.
35 So now with full joy of heart proclaim and bless the name of the Holy One.	35 Y ahora, de todo corazón y en alta voz, canten himnos y bendigan el nombre del Señor».
