Proverbs 9

NEW AMERICAN BIBLE	SAGRADA BIBLIA
1 Wisdom has built her house, she has set up her seven columns;	1 A Sabedoria edificou sua casa, talhou sete colunas.
2 She has dressed her meat, mixed her wine, yes, she has spread her table.	2 Matou seus animais, preparou seu vinho e dispôs a mesa.
3 She has sent out her maidens; she calls from the heights out over the city:	3 Enviou servas, para que anunciassem nos pontos mais elevados da cidade:
4 "Let whoever is simple turn in here; to him who lacks understanding, I say,	4 Quem for simples apresente-se! Aos insensatos ela disse:
5 Come, eat of my food, and drink of the wine I have mixed!	5 Vinde comer o meu pão e beber o vinho que preparei.
6 Forsake foolishness that you may live; advance in the way of understanding.	6 Deixai a insensatez e vivereis; andai direito no caminho da inteligência!
7 He who corrects an arrogant man earns insult; and he who reproves a wicked man incurs opprobrium.	7 Quem censura um mofador, atrai sobre si a zombaria; o que repreende o ímpio, arrisca-se a uma afronta.
8 Reprove not an arrogant man, lest he hate you; reprove a wise man, and he will love you.	8 Não repreendas o mofador, pois ele te odiará. Repreende o sábio e ele te amará.
9 Instruct a wise man, and he becomes still wiser; teach a just man, and he advances in learning.	9 Dá ao sábio: tornar-se-á ele mais sábio ainda, ensina ao justo e seu saber aumentará.
10 The beginning of wisdom is the fear of the LORD, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.	10 O temor do Senhor é o princípio da Sabedoria, e o conhecimento do Santo é a inteligência,
11 For by me your days will be multiplied and the years of your life increased."	11 porque por mim se multiplicarão teus dias e ser-te-ão acrescentados anos de vida.
12 If you are wise, it is to your own advantage; and if you are arrogant, you alone shall bear it.	12 Se tu és sábio, é para teu bem que o és, mas se tu és um mofador, só tu sofrerás as conseqüências.
13 The woman Folly is fickle, she is inane, and knows nothing.	13 A senhora Loucura é irrequieta, uma tola que não sabe nada.
14 She sits at the door of her house upon a seat on the city heights,	14 Ela se assenta à porta de sua casa, numa cadeira, nos pontos mais altos da cidade,
15 Calling to passers-by as they go on their straight way:	15 para convidar os viandantes que seguem direito seu caminho.
16 "Let whoever is simple turn in here, or who lacks understanding; for to him I say,	16 Quem for simples venha para cá! Aos insensatos, ela diz:
17 Stolen water is sweet, and bread gotten secretly is pleasing!"	17 As águas furtivas são mais doces e o pão tomado às escondidas é mais delicioso.
18 Little he knows that the shades are there, that in the depths of the nether world are her guests!	18 Ignora ele que ali há sombras e que os convidados {da senhora Loucura} jazem nas profundezas da região dos mortos.
