Proverbs 9

NEW AMERICAN BIBLE	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Wisdom has built her house, she has set up her seven columns;	1 La sapienza ha costruito la sua casa, ha drizzato le sue sette colonne.
2 She has dressed her meat, mixed her wine, yes, she has spread her table.	2 Ha ucciso i suoi animali, ha attinto il suo vino, ha imbandito la sua tavola.
3 She has sent out her maidens; she calls from the heights out over the city:	3 Ha inviato le sue ancelle a gridare sulle alture del villaggio:
4 "Let whoever is simple turn in here; to him who lacks understanding, I say,	4 "Chi è ingenuo, corra!". Al povero di spirito ella dice:
5 Come, eat of my food, and drink of the wine I have mixed!	5 "Venite, mangiate il mio pane, bevete il vino che ho preparato.
6 Forsake foolishness that you may live; advance in the way of understanding.	6 Abbandonate l'ingenuità e vivrete, camminate nella mia intelligenza!".
7 He who corrects an arrogant man earns insult; and he who reproves a wicked man incurs opprobrium.	7 Chi corregge il beffeggiatore ne riceve disprezzo, chi rimprovera l'empio, l'oltraggio.
8 Reprove not an arrogant man, lest he hate you; reprove a wise man, and he will love you.	8 Non rimproverare il beffardo, altrimenti ti odia! Tu rimproveri il saggio ed egli ti ama.
9 Instruct a wise man, and he becomes still wiser; teach a just man, and he advances in learning.	9 Da' al saggio e diventerà ancora più saggio, istruisci il giusto e farà altro acquisto.
10 The beginning of wisdom is the fear of the LORD, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.	10 L'inizio della sapienza è il timore del Signore, la scienza del Santo è intelligenza.
11 For by me your days will be multiplied and the years of your life increased."	11 Sì! Per merito mio si moltiplicheranno i tuoi giorni, aumenteranno gli anni della vita.
12 If you are wise, it is to your own advantage; and if you are arrogant, you alone shall bear it.	12 Se sei saggio, lo sei per bene tuo, se sei stolto, tu solo la sconti.
13 The woman Folly is fickle, she is inane, and knows nothing.	13 Donna stoltezza è tutta irrequieta, è sempliciotta e senza cervello.
14 She sits at the door of her house upon a seat on the city heights,	14 Siede alla porta della sua casa, sopra un trono, sulle alture del villaggio,
15 Calling to passers-by as they go on their straight way:	15 per chiamare chi passa per la via, chi va diritto per la sua strada:
16 "Let whoever is simple turn in here, or who lacks understanding; for to him I say,	16 "Chi è ingenuo, corra qua!". E al povero di spirito ella dice:
17 Stolen water is sweet, and bread gotten secretly is pleasing!"	17 "Le acque furtive sono dolci, il pane segreto è delizioso!".
18 Little he knows that the shades are there, that in the depths of the nether world are her guests!	18 E lui non sa che là ci sono le ombre, che agli antri degli inferi scendono i suoi invitati.
