Psalms 82

1 A psalm of Asaph. God rises in the divine council, gives judgment in the midst of the gods.	1 Salmo. Di Asaf. Dio si erge nell'assemblea divina, in mezzo agli dèi emana la sua sentenza:
2 "How long will you judge unjustly and favor the cause of the wicked? Selah	2 "Fino a quando emanerete sentenze inique, e prenderete le parti degli empi?
3 Defend the lowly and fatherless; render justice to the afflicted and needy.	3 Difendete piuttosto il debole e l'orfano, rendete giustizia al misero e al povero.
4 Rescue the lowly and poor; deliver them from the hand of the wicked."	4 Liberate il debole e l'indigente, strappatelo alla stretta dell'empio".
5 The gods neither know nor understand, wandering about in darkness, and all the world's foundations shake.	5 Essi non capiscono, non possono intendere; il loro cammino sta nelle tenebre, possano pur vacillare tutte le fondamenta della terra.
6 I declare: "Gods though you be, offspring of the Most High all of you,	6 Io riflettei: "Siete dèi, tutti figli dell'Altissimo!
7 Yet like any mortal you shall die; like any prince you shall fall."	7 Eppure morrete come ogni uomo, come ognuno dei potenti cadrete!".
8 Arise, O God, judge the earth, for yours are all the nations.	8 Sorgi, o Dio, giudica la terra. Sì, l'eredità tu avrai di tutte le genti.
