Psalms 40

1 For the leader. A psalm of David.	1 Del maestro de coro. De David. Salmo.
2 I waited, waited for the LORD; who bent down and heard my cry,	2 Esperé confiadamente en el Señor: él se inclinó hacia mí y escuchó mi clamor.
3 Drew me out of the pit of destruction, out of the mud of the swamp, Set my feet upon rock, steadied my steps,	3 Me sacó de la fosa infernal, del barro cenagoso; afianzó mis pies sobre la roca y afirmó mis pasos.
4 And put a new song in my mouth, a hymn to our God. Many shall look on in awe and they shall trust in the LORD.	4 Puso en mi boca un canto nuevo, un himno a nuestro Dios. Muchos, al ver esto, temerán y confiarán en el Señor.
5 Happy those whose trust is the LORD, who turn not to idolatry or to those who stray after falsehood.	5 ¡Feliz el que pone en el Señor toda su confianza, y no se vuelve hacia los rebeldes que se extravían tras la mentira!
6 How numerous, O LORD, my God, you have made your wondrous deeds! And in your plans for us there is none to equal you. Should I wish to declare or tell them, too many are they to recount.	6 ¡Cuántas maravillas has realizado, Señor, Dios mío! Por tus designios en favor nuestro, nadie se te puede comparar. Quisiera anunciarlos y proclamarlos, pero son innumerables.
7 sacrifice and offering you do not want; but ears open to obedience you gave me. Holocausts and sin-offerings you do not require;	7 Tú no quisiste víctima ni oblación; pero me diste un oído atento; no pediste holocaustos ni sacrificios,
8 so I said, "Here I am; your commands for me are written in the scroll.	8 entonces dije: «Aquí estoy.
9 To do your will is my delight; my God, your law is in my heart!"	9 En el libro de la Ley está escrito lo que tengo que hacer: yo amo. Dios mío, tu voluntad, y tu ley está en mi corazón».
10 I announced your deed to a great assembly; I did not restrain my lips; you, LORD, are my witness.	10 Proclamé gozosamente tu justicia en la gran asamblea; no, no mantuve cerrados mis labios, tú lo sabes, Señor.
11 Your deed I did not hide within my heart; your loyal deliverance I have proclaimed. I made no secret of your enduring kindness to a great assembly.	11 No escondí tu justicia dentro de mí, proclamé tu fidelidad y tu salvación, y no oculté a la gran asamblea tu amor y tu fidelidad.
12 LORD, do not withhold your compassion from me; may your enduring kindness ever preserve me.	12 Y tú, Señor, no te niegues a tener compasión de mí; que tu amor y tu fidelidad me protejan sin cesar.
13 For all about me are evils beyond count; my sins so overcome me I cannot see. They are more than the hairs of my head; my courage fails me.	13 Porque estoy rodeado de tantos males, que es imposible contarlos. Las culpas me tienen atrapado y ya no alcanzo a ver: son más que los cabellos de mi cabeza, y me faltan las fuerzas.
14 LORD, graciously rescue me! Come quickly to help me, LORD!	14 Líbrame, Señor, por favor; Señor, ven pronto a socorrerme.
15 Put to shame and confound all who seek to take my life. Turn back in disgrace those who desire my ruin.	15 Que se avergüencen y sean humillados los que quieren acabar con mi vida. Que retrocedan confundidos los que desean mi ruina;
16 Let those who say "Aha!" know dismay and shame.	16 queden pasmados de vergüenza los que se ríen de mí.
17 But may all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you. May those who long for your help always say, "The LORD be glorified."	17 Que se alegren y se regocijen en ti todos los que te buscan y digan siempre los que desean tu victoria; «¡Qué grande es el Señor!»
18 Though I am afflicted and poor, the Lord keeps me in mind. You are my help and deliverer; my God, do not delay!	18 Yo soy pobre y miserable, pero el Señor piensa en mí; tú eres mi ayuda y mi libertador, ¡no tardes, Dios mío!
