Psalms 135

1 Hallelujah! Praise the name of the LORD! Praise, you servants of the LORD,	1 Al eluia! Praise the name of Yahweh, you who serve Yahweh, praise him,
2 Who stand in the house of the LORD, in the courts of the house of our God!	2 serving in the house of Yahweh, in the courts of the house of our God.
3 Praise the LORD; the LORD is good! Sing to God's name; it is gracious!	3 Praise Yahweh, for Yahweh is good, make music for his name -- it brings joy-
4 For the LORD has chosen Jacob, Israel as a treasured possession.	4 for Yahweh has chosen Jacob for himself, Israel as his own possession.
5 I know that the LORD is great, our Lord is greater than all gods.	5 For I know that Yahweh is great, our Lord is above al gods.
6 Whatever the LORD wishes he does in heaven and on earth, in the seas and in all the deeps.	6 Yahweh does whatever he pleases in heaven, on earth, in the waters and al the depths.
7 He raises storm clouds from the end of the earth, makes lightning and rain, brings forth wind from the storehouse.	7 He summons up clouds from the borders of earth, sends rain with lightning-flashes, and brings thewind out of his storehouse.
8 He struck down Egypt's firstborn, human and beast alike,	8 He struck the first-born in Egypt, man and beast alike,
9 And sent signs and portents against you, Egypt, against Pharaoh and all his servants.	9 he sent signs and wonders into the heart of Egypt, against Pharaoh and al his officials.
10 The Lord struck down many nations, slew mighty kings--	10 He struck down many nations, he slaughtered mighty kings,
11 Sihon, king of the Amorites, Og, king of Bashan, all the kings of Canaan--	11 Sihon king of the Amorites, and Og king of Bashan, and al the kingdoms of Canaan.
12 And made their land a heritage, a heritage for Israel his people.	12 He gave their land as a birthright, a birthright to his people Israel.
13 O LORD, your name is forever, your renown, from age to age!	13 Yahweh, your name endures for ever, Yahweh, your memory is fresh from age to age.
14 For the LORD defends his people, shows mercy to his servants.	14 For Yahweh vindicates his people, feels compassion for his servants.
15 The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the work of human hands.	15 The idols of the nations are silver and gold, made by human hands.
16 They have mouths but speak not; they have eyes but see not;	16 These have mouths but say nothing, have eyes but see nothing,
17 They have ears but hear not; no breath is in their mouths.	17 have ears but hear nothing, and they have no breath in their mouths.
18 Their makers shall be like them, all who trust in them.	18 Their makers wil end up like them, everyone who relies on them.
