και ταυτης εταραχθη η καρδια μου και απερρυη εκ του τοπου αυτης1 At this, my heart became frightened, and it has been moved from its place.
ακουε ακοην εν οργη θυμου κυριου και μελετη εκ στοματος αυτου εξελευσεται2 Pay close attention to the alarm of his voice and to the sound that proceeds from his mouth.
υποκατω παντος του ουρανου αρχη αυτου και το φως αυτου επι πτερυγων της γης3 He beholds everything under the heavens, and his light reaches beyond the ends of the earth.
οπισω αυτου βοησεται φωνη βροντησει εν φωνη υβρεως αυτου και ουκ ανταλλαξει αυτους οτι ακουσει φωνην αυτου4 After this, a noise will sound; he will thunder with the voice of his greatness, and it will not be tracked down, yet his voice will be obeyed.
βροντησει ο ισχυρος εν φωνη αυτου θαυμασια εποιησεν γαρ μεγαλα α ουκ ηδειμεν5 God will thunder with his voice miraculously, for he performs great and unsearchable things.
συντασσων χιονι γινου επι της γης και χειμων υετος και χειμων υετων δυναστειας αυτου6 He commands the snow to descend on earth, and the winter rains, and the shower of his strength.
εν χειρι παντος ανθρωπου κατασφραγιζει ινα γνω πας ανθρωπος την εαυτου ασθενειαν7 He signs the hand of all men, so that each one may know his works.
εισηλθεν δε θηρια υπο σκεπην ησυχασαν δε επι κοιτης8 The beast will enter his hiding-place, and he will remain in his cave.
εκ ταμιειων επερχονται διναι απο δε ακρωτηριων ψυχος9 From the interior, a storm will come forth, and a cold winter from the north.
και απο πνοης ισχυρου δωσει παγος οιακιζει δε το υδωρ ως εαν βουληται10 As God breathes out, frost forms, and the waters are poured forth very widely again.
και εκλεκτον καταπλασσει νεφελη διασκορπιει νεφος φως αυτου11 Crops desire clouds, and the clouds scatter their light.
και αυτος κυκλωματα διαστρεψει εν θεεβουλαθω εις εργα αυτων παντα οσα αν εντειληται αυτοις ταυτα συντετακται παρ' αυτου επι της γης12 It shines all around, wherever the will of him that governs them will lead, to anywhere he will command, over the whole face of the earth,
εαν εις παιδειαν εαν εις την γην αυτου εαν εις ελεος ευρησει αυτον13 whether in one tribe, or in his own region, or in whatever place of his mercy that he will order them to be found.
ενωτιζου ταυτα ιωβ στηθι νουθετου δυναμιν κυριου14 Listen to these things, Job. Stand up and consider the wonders of God.
οιδαμεν οτι ο θεος εθετο εργα αυτου φως ποιησας εκ σκοτους15 Do you know when God ordered the rains, so as to show the light of his clouds?
επισταται δε διακρισιν νεφων εξαισια δε πτωματα πονηρων16 Do you know the great paths of the clouds, and the perfect sciences?
σου δε η στολη θερμη ησυχαζεται δε επι της γης17 Are not your garments hot, when the south wind blows across the land?
στερεωσεις μετ' αυτου εις παλαιωματα ισχυραι ως ορασις επιχυσεως18 Perhaps you have made the heavens with him, which are very solid, as if they had been cast from brass.
δια τι διδαξον με τι ερουμεν αυτω και παυσωμεθα πολλα λεγοντες19 Reveal to us what we should say to him, for, of course, we are wrapped in darkness.
μη βιβλος η γραμματευς μοι παρεστηκεν ινα ανθρωπον εστηκως κατασιωπησω20 Who will explain to him the things that I am saying? Even while a man is still speaking, he will be devoured.
πασιν δ' ουχ ορατον το φως τηλαυγες εστιν εν τοις παλαιωμασιν ωσπερ το παρ' αυτου επι νεφων21 Although they do not see the light, the air will be thickened suddenly into clouds, and the wind, passing by, will drive them away.
απο βορρα νεφη χρυσαυγουντα επι τουτοις μεγαλη η δοξα και τιμη παντοκρατορος22 Riches arrive from the north, and fearful praise reaches out to God.
και ουχ ευρισκομεν αλλον ομοιον τη ισχυι αυτου ο τα δικαια κρινων ουκ οιει επακουειν αυτον23 We are not worthy to be able to find him. Great in strength, great in judgment, great in justice: he is indescribable.
διο φοβηθησονται αυτον οι ανθρωποι φοβηθησονται δε αυτον και οι σοφοι καρδια24 Therefore, men will fear him, and all those who seem to themselves to be wise, will not dare to contemplate him.
