King James Bible Bíblia Matos Soares
After two days was the feast of the passover, and of unleavened bread: and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take him by craft, and put him to death.1 Dali a dois dias era a Páscoa e os ázimos; os príncipes dos sacerdotes e os escribas andavam buscando modo de o prender por traição, para o matar.
But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar of the people.2 Porém, diziam: "Não convém que isto se faça no dia da festa, para que se não levante nenhum motim entre o povo."
And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head.3 Estando Jesus em Betânia, em casa de Simão o leproso, enquanto estava à mesa, veio uma mulher trazendo um vaso de alabastro cheio de um bálsamo feito de verdadeiro nardo de um grande valor, e, quebrado o vaso, derramou-lho sobre a cabeça.
And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made?4 Alguns dos que estavam presentes indignaram-se, e diziam entre si: "Para que foi este desperdício de bálsamo?
For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured against her.5 Pois podia vender-se por mais de trezentos dinheiros, e dá-los aos pobres. E irritavam-se contra ela.
And Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me.6 Mas Jesus disse: "Deixai-a. Porque a molestais ? Ela fez-me uma boa obra,
For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always.7 porque vós tereis sempre convosco pobres, e, quando quiserdes, podeis fazer-lhes bem; porém, a mim, não me tendes sempre.
She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying.8 Ela fez o que podia: embalsamou com antecipação o meu corpo para a sepultura.
Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.9 Em verdade vos digo: Onde quer que for pregado este Evangelho por todo o mundo, será também contado, para sua memória, o que ela fez."
And Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went unto the chief priests, to betray him unto them.10 Então Judas Iscariotes, um dos doze, foi ter com os príncipes dos sacerdotes, para lhes entregar Jesus.
And when they heard it, they were glad, and promised to give him money. And he sought how he might conveniently betray him.11 Eles, ouvindo-o, alegraram-se e prometeram dar-lhe dinheiro. E ele procurava ocasião oportuna para o entregar.
And the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the passover, his disciples said unto him, Where wilt thou that we go and prepare that thou mayest eat the passover?12 No primeiro dia dos ázimos, quando imolavam a Páscoa, os discípulos lhe disseram: "Onde queres que vamos preparar-te a refeição da Páscoa?"
And he sendeth forth two of his disciples, and saith unto them, Go ye into the city, and there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water: follow him.13 Então ele enviou dois dos seus discípulos, e disse-lhes: "Ide à cidade, e encontrareis um homem levando uma bilha de água; ide atrás dele,
And wheresoever he shall go in, say ye to the goodman of the house, The Master saith, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?14 e, onde entrar, dizei ao dono da casa: o Mestre diz: Onde está a minha sala em que eu hei-de comer a Páscoa com os meus discípulos?
And he will shew you a large upper room furnished and prepared: there make ready for us.15 E ele vos mostrará uma sala superior, grande, mobilada e posta em ordem. Preparai-me lá o que é preciso."
And his disciples went forth, and came into the city, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.16 Os discípulos partiram, chegaram à cidade, encontraram tudo como ele lhes tinha dito, e prepararam a Páscoa.
And in the evening he cometh with the twelve.17 Chegada a tarde, foi Jesus com os doze.
And as they sat and did eat, Jesus said, Verily I say unto you, One of you which eateth with me shall betray me.18 Quando estavam à mesa e comiam, disse Jesus: "Em verdade vos digo que um de vós, que come comigo, me há-de entregar.
And they began to be sorrowful, and to say unto him one by one, Is it I? and another said, Is it I?19 Então começaram a entristecer-se, e a dizer-lhe cada um de per si: Sou porventura eu?
And he answered and said unto them, It is one of the twelve, that dippeth with me in the dish.20 Ele disse-lhes: É um dos doze que se serve comigo no mesmo prato.
The Son of man indeed goeth, as it is written of him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had never been born.21 O Filho do homem vai, segundo está escrito dele, mas, ai daquele homem por quem for entregue o Filho do homem! Melhor fora a esse homem não ter nascido."
And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body.22 Enquanto comiam, Jesus tomou pão e, depois de o benzer, partiu-o, deu-lho e disse: "Tomai, isto é o meu corpo."
And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them: and they all drank of it.23 Em seguida, tendo tomado o cálice, dando graças, deu-lho, e todos beberam dele.
And he said unto them, This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many.24 E disse-lhes : "Isto é o meu sangue, o sangue da Aliança, que será derramado por muitos.
Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God.25 Em verdade vos digo que não beberei mais desse fruto da vide, até àquele dia em que o beberei novo no reino de Deus."
And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.26 Cantados os salmos, foram para o monte das Oliveiras,
And Jesus saith unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered.27 Então, Jesus, disse-lhes: "Todos vos escandalizareis, pois está escrito: Ferirei o pastor, e as ovelhas se dispersarão (Zc. 3, 7).
But after that I am risen, I will go before you into Galilee.28 Mas, depois que eu ressuscitar, preceder-vos-ei na Galileia."
But Peter said unto him, Although all shall be offended, yet will not I.29 Pedro, porém, disse-lhe: "Ainda que todos se escandalizem a teu respeito, eu não."
And Jesus saith unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this day, even in this night, before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice.30 Jesus disse-lhe: "Em verdade te digo que hoje, nesta mesma noite, antes que o galo cante a segunda vez, me negarás três vezes."
But he spake the more vehemently, If I should die with thee, I will not deny thee in any wise. Likewise also said they all.31 Porém, ele, insistia ainda mais: "Ainda que me seja preciso morrer contigo, não te negarei." E todos diziam o mesmo.
And they came to a place which was named Gethsemane: and he saith to his disciples, Sit ye here, while I shall pray.32 Chegando a uma herdade, chamada Getsemani, Jesus disse a seus discípulos: "Sentai-vos aqui enquanto vou orar."
And he taketh with him Peter and James and John, and began to be sore amazed, and to be very heavy;33 Levou consigo Pedro, Tiago e João; e começou a sentir pavor e angústia.
And saith unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here, and watch.34 E disse-lhes: "A minha alma está numa tristeza mortal; ficai aqui, e vigiai."
And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him.35 Tendo-se adiantado um pouco, prostrou-se por terra, e pedia que, se era possível, se afastasse dele aquela hora.
And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.36 Dizia: "Abba, Pai, todas as coisas te são possíveis; afasta de mim este cálice; porém, não se faça o que eu quero, mas o que tu queres."
And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest not thou watch one hour?37 Depois voltou, e encontrou-os dormindo, e disse a Pedro: "Simão, dormes? Não pudeste vigiar uma hora?
Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.38 Vigiai e orai, para que não entreis em tentação. O espirito na verdade está pronto, mas a carne é fraca."
And again he went away, and prayed, and spake the same words.39 Tendo-se retirado novamente, pôs-se a orar, repetindo as mesmas palavras.
And when he returned, he found them asleep again, (for their eyes were heavy,) neither wist they what to answer him.40 Voltando, encontrou-os outra vez a dormir, porque tinham os olhos pesados. Não sabiam que responder-lhe.
And he cometh the third time, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: it is enough, the hour is come; behold, the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.41 Voltou terceira vez, e disse-lhes: "Dormi agora e descansai. Basta, é chegada a hora; eis que o Filho do homem vai ser entregue nas mãos dos pecadores.
Rise up, let us go; lo, he that betrayeth me is at hand.42 Levantai-vos, vamos; eis que se aproxima o que me há-de entregar."
And immediately, while he yet spake, cometh Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders.43 Ainda falava, quando chega Judas Iscariotes, um dos doze, e com ele muita gente armada de espadas e varapaus, enviada pelos príncipes dos sacerdotes, pelos escribas e pelos anciães.
And he that betrayed him had given them a token, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he; take him, and lead him away safely.44 O traidor tinha-lhes dado uma senha, dizendo: "Aquele a quem eu oscular, é esse; prendei-o, e levai-o com cuidado."
And as soon as he was come, he goeth straightway to him, and saith, Master, master; and kissed him.45 Logo que chegou, aproximando-se imediatamente de Jesus, disse-lhe: "Mestre!" e osculou-o.
And they laid their hands on him, and took him.46 Então eles lançaram-lhe as mãos, e prenderam-no.
And one of them that stood by drew a sword, and smote a servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.47 Um dos circunstantes, tirando da espada, feriu um servo do sumo sacerdote, e cortou-lhe uma orelha.
And Jesus answered and said unto them, Are ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and with staves to take me?48 Jesus, tomando a palavra, disse-lhes: "Como se eu fosse um ladrão, viestes com espadas e varapaus a prender-me?
I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and ye took me not: but the scriptures must be fulfilled.49 Todos os dias estava entre vós ensinando no templo, e não me prendestes. Mas isto acontece para que se cumpram as Escrituras."
And they all forsook him, and fled.50 Então os seus discípulos, abandonando-o, fugiram todos.
And there followed him a certain young man, having a linen cloth cast about his naked body; and the young men laid hold on him:51 Um jovem seguia Jesus coberto sòmente com um lençol, e prenderam-no.
And he left the linen cloth, and fled from them naked.52 Mas ele, largando o lençol, escapou-se-lhes nu.
And they led Jesus away to the high priest: and with him were assembled all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes.53 Levaram Jesus ao sumo sacerdote, e juntaram-se todos os príncipes dos sacerdotes, os anciães e os escribas,
And Peter followed him afar off, even into the palace of the high priest: and he sat with the servants, and warmed himself at the fire.54 Pedro foi-o seguindo de longe, até dentro do pátio do sumo sacerdote. Estava sentado ao fogo com os criados, e aquecia-se.
And the chief priests and all the council sought for witness against Jesus to put him to death; and found none.55 Os príncipes dos sacerdotes e todo o conselho buscavam algum testemunho contra Jesus, para o fazerem morrer, e não o encontravam,
For many bare false witness against him, but their witness agreed not together.56 Porque muitos depunham falsamente contra ele, mas não concordavam os seus depoimentos.
And there arose certain, and bare false witness against him, saying,57 Levantando-se uns certos, depunham falsamente contra ele, dizendo:
We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands.58 "Nós ouvimos-lhe dizer: Destruirei este templo, feito pela mão do homem, e em três dias edificarei outro, que não será feito pela mão do homem."
But neither so did their witness agree together.59 Porém nem este seu testemunho era concorde.
And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?60 Então, levantando-se no meio da assembleia o sumo sacerdote, interrogou Jesus, dizendo: "Não respondes nada? O que é que estes depõem contra ti?"
But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?61 Ele, porém, estava em silêncio, e nada respondeu. Interrogou-o de novo o sumo sacerdote, e disse-lhe: "És tu o Cristo, o Filho de Deus bendito?"
And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.62 Jesus respondeu: "Eu o sou, e vereis o Filho do homem sentado á direita do poder de Deus, e vir sobre as nuvens do céu (Ps. 109, 1 ; Dn. 7, 13)."
Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses?63 Então o sumo sacerdote, rasgando os seus vestidos, disse: "Que necessidade temos de mais testemunhas?
Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death.64 Ouvistes a blasfêmia. Que vos parece?" E todos o condenaram como réu de morte.
And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say unto him, Prophesy: and the servants did strike him with the palms of their hands.65 Então começaram alguns a cuspir-lhe, a velar-lhe o rosto, e a dar-lhe punhadas, dizendo-lhe: "Profetiza!" Os criados receberam-no a bofetadas.
And as Peter was beneath in the palace, there cometh one of the maids of the high priest:66 Entretanto, estando Pedro em baixo no átrio, chegou uma das criadas do sumo sacerdote.
And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked upon him, and said, And thou also wast with Jesus of Nazareth.67 Vendo Pedro, que se aquecia, encarando nele, disse: "Tu também estavas com Jesus Nazareno."
But he denied, saying, I know not, neither understand I what thou sayest. And he went out into the porch; and the cock crew.68 Mas ele negou: "Não sei, nem compreendo o que dizes." E saiu fora para a entrada do pátio, e o galo cantou.
And a maid saw him again, and began to say to them that stood by, This is one of them.69 Tendo-o visto a criada, começou novamente a dizer aos que estavam presentes: "Este é daqueles."
And he denied it again. And a little after, they that stood by said again to Peter, Surely thou art one of them: for thou art a Galilaean, and thy speech agreeth thereto.70 Mas ele o negou de novo. Pouco depois, os que ali estavam diziam de novo a Pedro: "Verdadeiramente tu és um deles, porque és galileu."
But he began to curse and to swear, saying, I know not this man of whom ye speak.71 Ele começou a fazer imprecações e a jurar: "Não conheço esse homem de quem falais."
And the second time the cock crew. And Peter called to mind the word that Jesus said unto him, Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept.72 Imediatamente cantou o galo segunda vez. Pedro recordou-se da palavra que Jesus tinha dito: "Antes que o galo cante duas vezes, me negarás três vezes." E começou a chorar.
